Christmas word: shopping
Enjoy :)
"It's busy today."
Rainbow and Applejack weaved in and around people, trying to avoid bumping into anyone. Rainbow barely missed getting ran over not even 20 minutes prior. She stuck close to Applejack afterwards, not really wanting to get lost on the crowds of people. The noise of people talking and walking, babies whining, children playing. It was chaos this time of year in the stores all over Canterlot. People were rushing to buy presents for the upcoming holiday season.
Rainbow and Applejack were no different. Except they weren't in a rush.
Rainbow yawned.
"Why're we here so early?" She complained. "It's too early for this."
"Because, RD." Applejack responded. "We're Christmas shoppin'. Christmas is next month and ah wanna decorate the house."
Rainbow smiled, her face lighting up and the mention of decorating.
"Oooh yay! Decorating!!"
Applejack pushed the cart down the isle, looking at the shelves full of stuff.
"Yup. Now what colors should we do this year? Last year we did gold and red."
"What about red and green?" Rainbow suggested. "Oh! Look at this."
Rainbow went over to the shelf and picked up a glittery wreath. She looked at it and then turned around. She showed it to Applejack.
"Do we have one of these?"
Applejack looked at the wreath.
"Nope. Ah like it. Let's get it."
Rainbow put the wreath in the cart.
"We already have our Christmas tree, right?." She asked. "We just need the ornaments and stuff?"
Applejack nodded as they continued down the aisle. Rainbow looped her arms around Applejack's. She laid her head on her shoulder with a sigh.
"I'm hungry."
Applejack kissed her forehead.
"After we're done, we'll go eat some pancakes, ok?"
Rainbow nodded.
"You're the bomb.com." She said, bumping AJ with her hip.
Applejack smiled. They turned into a new aisle. Rainbow noticed the items and lifted her head.
"Oooh stockings."
Rainbow all but ran over the collection of stockings. They were all really cool. They were tan with pictures of snowmen or Santa or a snowflake and reindeer or a snow covered field with a house on it.
"These are so neat." She said.
"Let's get some."
Rainbow looked over her shoulder. Applejack stood there, looking at the stockings.
"Those are nice." She agreed
"Don't we already have stockings?" Rainbow asked.
Applejack made a face.
"Well, we've used the same ones for years. They're old. Ah don't wanna use those anymore. Pick one fir you and ah'll pick one, too."
Rainbow agreed. The girls both picked a stocking. Rainbow chose a stocking with a reindeer on it and Applejack picked one with a snowman on it. They put them in the cart and kept on going. They got some ribbons and garland to wrap around the railing on the stairs and for the fireplace. They got candles with Christmas themed scents like cinnamon and candy cane and pine.
"I like shopping with you." Rainbow said randomly, carrying the garland around her neck like a feather boa.
Applejack looked at her and snickered.
"What're you doin' with that around yir neck? That can't be comfortable."
Rainbow shrugged.
"Feels fine to me." She said.
Applejack shook her head.
"Ah like shoppin' with ya, too."
Rainbow suddenly stopped and pointed.
"Look, AJ!" She exclaimed.
Applejack stopped and looked to see what Rainbow Dash was pointing at. She almost didn't see a woman passing by. She pulled Rainbow out of the way, apologizing and letting the woman pass. As soon as the woman went by, Rainbow pointed again. Applejack followed her finger to see shelves of Christmas tree ornaments.
"There they are." She said.
They went over to the section. Looking at the different plastic containers full of sparkly, colorful tree decorations.
Rainbow picked up a container full of red Christmas tree things. She showed it to Applejack.
"This is red. You like it?"
Applejack examined the stuff. Glass ornaments of many shapes and sizes. Beads to wrap around the tree and other stuff.
"Yeah. Ah like it. We can get it."
Putting it in the cart, Rainbow turned back around. She searched and found green decorations. She added that as well. The two walked around the whole store, looking at everything. They came to the baking section. Pots, bowls, cake batter, brownie batter, cookie batter, mixing bowls, icing. Pinkie would love this.
Rainbow looked around. She suddenly gasped, a smile appearing in her face. She looked at Applejack with the most happiest expression she'd had all day.
"Can we bake something?" She asked.
Applejack giggled.
"Sure. Let's buy some stuff. We need a cupcakes, bakin' pans and batter. Go grab whatever you want ta bake and we'll bake somethin' tonight."
Rainbow beamed. She walked down the aisle, looking around and pointing and asking Applejack "this thing?" And Applejack simply nodded or shook her head. Rainbow took a few trips from the cart to the shelves where she got the items. Rainbow picked out chocolate chip cookies, sugar cookies, chocolate cake, vanilla cake, fudge brownies with, and muffins.
"Is that all we need??." Rainbow asked. "Or is there more to buy??"
Applejack looked at the stuff in the cart.
"Ah think that's enough fir now." She decided. "C'mon. Let's go pay n' go home."
Rainbow climbed on the front of the cart, holding on tight. Applejack rolled her eyes and pushed the cart. They made their way through the store. Rainbow stared at Applejack the whole time, a goofy grin on her face. Applejack smiled at her.
"What?"
Rainbow shrugged. Applejack looked ahead of Rainbow and stopped suddenly. The force pushed Rainbow back and she fell off.
"Woah!"
Luckily, she landed on her feet. Rainbow looked up at her, unamused.
"You ok, Sugarcube?" Applejack asked.
Rainbow nodded.
"Why'd you stop like that?"
Rainbow looked over her shoulder.
"Oh."
A line was not even a foot in front of them. People with their own carts, full of things. Rainbow and Applejack looked around at the available registers.
"Man." Rainbow muttered. "That's gonna take a while."
Applejack scanned the lines, looking for a short line. Something caught her eye. A line at the end wasn't that long. The people in the long line must've not seen it.
"C'mon, babe." She said, pushing the cart.
Rainbow moved, letting Applejack go by and followed. They politely went through the line of people and made their way to the short line a few spots down. They got in line and exhaled in relief.
"Alright." Rainbow said, proud of their small success.
Applejack rested her arms on the bar of the cart. Rainbow walked up to her and hugged her from the side, resting her chin on Applejack's shoulder.
"I love you." She mumbled.
Applejack felt so happy hearing Rainbow tell her that. She turned her head, wrapping an arm around Rainbow's waist. She pressed a kiss to Rainbow's cheek repeatedly.
"I love you, too, beautiful."
Rainbow Dash felt herself blush. She pushed Applejack away.
"Stop." She whined.
Applejack smirked.
"You love it." She said.
Rainbow rolled her eyes, trying to deny it. She looked at the cart. She looked like she was searching for something.
"What're you lookin' for?" AJ asked.
"I forgot to put in cookie cutters. You know. The things that makes the shape."
Rainbow pouted.
"Wanna go get it??" Applejack asked.
Rainbow stopped pouting and nodded enthusiastically. Applejack waved her off. Rainbow immediately ran off to go find the baking aisle. Applejack grinned, watching her girlfriend run off. She was so lucky to have these days with such a great girl. Wouldn't trade it for the world.
So yeah. :) sorry for not updating for like 2 days. I haven't been feeling like myself . But yeah. Comment what you think :)
