Christmas word: Gingerbread
Day 5! Enjoy :)
"Okay. Let's do this."
Rainbow looked down the box in front of her, a smile in her face, hands on her hands. Today was going to be great. Rainbow had gone to the store and bought something she couldn't go the holiday without. A Gingerbread house set. Aka, a box full of candy. Rainbow asked Applejack if she wanted to build it with her and Applejack happily said yes.
So there they were, sitting in their kitchen, the candy pieces laid out in front of them. The two looked at each other.
"Ok." Rainbow said. "How're we gonna do this?"
Applejack looked at the pieces. Gumdrops, M&Ms, DOTS, mints, two tiny candy canes and an icing tube that she had prepared before they started. Applejack picked up the icing tube.
"Let's get started on the walls. You know. Actually building the house."
"Smart idea." Rainbow said. "How about you-."
Rainbow jumped when she felt something smear on her cheek. She gasped in surprise. She whipped her head to the side and looked at Applejack. Applejack was laughing, holding the icing tube. Rainbow wiped her cheek and looked at her hand. Yup. White icing was smeared on her hand. Rainbow glared at Applejack.
"And you think I'm immature." She said.
"Ah'm just havin' fun, babe." Applejack shrugged. "Ah love you."
Rainbow rolled her eyes.
"Let's get started. After we finish, we'll settle this fight. Like I was saying."
Rainbow gave Applejack a pointed look.
"You ice up the walls and I'll put it together."
Applejack gave a nod. The two did just that. Rainbow picked up piece by piece of the house.
"Hold still." Applejack said, concentrating as she iced the sides of the house walls. Once that was done, Rainbow worked on putting the pieces together. Applejack helped out, making sure it didn't all fall apart. Once the four walls were together, they let go.
"Aaaaaand...."
It stood on its own.
"Awesome!" Rainbow said in victory. "Now the roof."
Rainbow and Applejack put the last of the house together. They did a pretty decent job. It stood on its own and looked like it was suppose to.
Rainbow likes the next part.
"Now the candy." She said.
"Don't eat it." Applejack warned.
Rainbow looked at her.
"You don't trust me?"
AJ looked at her with a serious face.
"No." She deadpanned.
Rainbow pretended to take offense.
"Ok. I see how it is."
Rainbow Dash looked at the picture on the box and studied it. She then looked back at her options of candy. She picked the gumdrops.
"Ice the front edge of the roof."
Applejack, with as much care and precision as Rarity had with her sewing, made a perfect line on the edge of the roof. She pulled her hand back and studied her work. She was quite proud of herself.
"Your turn." She said.
Rainbow stuck on the gumdrops in a line, going by random order along the front edge. Then came the sour candy. Then candy canes, then the mints. One by one they stuck the candy where they wanted it to go.
Rainbow stuck the last tree shaped gummy in front of the house.
"And done."
Rainbow and Applejack looked at their finished work. It was pretty decent. A few mishaps on the icing and the candy was staying in place in one place or another. But it looked like the picture and it was making them hungry.
"Nice job." Applejack complimented.
The two girls gave each other a high five. Applejack snapped a picture or two to post online later and send to her dad.
"Can we eat it now?." Rainbow asked.
Applejack glanced up at her. Rainbow had a hopeful smile on her face. Applejack smiled.
"Go for it."
Rainbow dug in. She plucked off the pieces of candy, popping them into her mouth. Applejack joined her. They spent their precious time, devouring the house. They were like Hansel and Gretel, but without the witch to stop them from eating the candy house.
"This was fun." Rainbow said.
Applejack smiled at her.
"You make everythin' fun."
Rainbow blushed lightly. She picked up a gummy and effortlessly tossed it at Applejack. It hit her cheek. Applejack looked at her like "I know you didn't just do that." Rainbow smirked and stuck her tongue out at her. Applejack picked up the icing tube. Rainbow gasped, seeing what Applejack was about to do. She jumped out of her seat and ran. Applejack got out of her seat and chased after her.
"Get back here! It's just icing, RD!"
"No!"
Laughter filled the home. Just another winter day for them.
So yeah. A bit shorter than my other ones, but I hope you liked it. Comment what you think :)
