Black lives matter
Hey so I know this isn't an update and y'all been waiting for an update but I felt it was mandatory for me to talk about this.
So we all know about the protests that are happening where I live, in the United States because of the murder of George Floyd, a black man. Racism has always been a major problem for this country. Some of the presidents of America owned slaves. When the constitution was created, it was only intended for white men. Not for blacks or women. It's always been around, and if you live here and don't know that, you either are ignorant, which isn't necessarily a bad thing all the time..... or you're a racist yourself. Now i refuse to believe that any of my followers are racist or homophobes or sexist. I do not and will never support racism.
Black lives matter.
Yes, all lives matter, but for hundreds of years, black lives have not mattered as much as white lives, and that's the problem. When people say black lives matter, they mean that yes all lives matter but right now, the black lives are in danger and they need the most help RIGHT NOW.
During the past few weeks, there have been protests. They were peaceful. The only time it got violent was when the police officers started something or there was one person who took advantage of the situation and started trouble.
Protestors have died. They were shot at, shoved, gassed, and unfairly arrested. This makes me angry.
Instead of listening to the protestors and the needs of the people, the president decided to tell the military to attack the protestors and use force on innocent people.
That pisses me off and it should piss you off too. If you didn't think Trump was a terrible person before, you should now. And if you still believe he's a good person, unfollow me. I mean it. Do it. I don't care.
Trump is a racist and it's time more people realize it. The country is in chaos and this may be the first big event that some of you have experienced in your lives. Some of you are young, and maybe can't do much about this situation. Maybe you can't go protest in the streets and I don't think that would be safe. If you want to, you can, but I don't recommend it to my younger followers cuz the police sometimes don't care how old you are. You can get hurt or arrested. So be careful and stay safe if you do go out.
Maybe you don't have money so you can't give to fundraisers.
But what you can do it spread the word and talk about it. Read up on the facts and talk to others about it. Make people uncomfortable. If they don't wanna talk about it, ask why not. It's an important human problem and shouldn't be kept quiet about. Everyone should be talking about it. If you have a racist family member or friend, call them out if you can do it safely.
Go sign online petitions. They should pretty easy to find on google. There's a few posts on tumblr that I've seen that have info about that. There's a whole bunch of them.
But most of all, be aware. Know what's going on in the world, educate yourself and others. Take a look around you and the people you pass by and interact with every day. Don't go looking for trouble, but just be more aware of things going on. Especially if you're a white person.
You guys have that white privilege. Use it!! If you're old enough and capable, go help people of color in the protests (safely). Use your whiteness to talk to other white people who probably don't think the same way you do. They'll listen to you more than they'll listen to a person of color.
We can only fight racism by coming together and realizing that skin color doesn't make you better than someone and that it's wrong to assume someone is a certain way simply because of the color of their skin, that goes for everyone, not just white people. Just don't judge people! If you think you're better than someone because of sexuality or religion or skin color, there's a problem with YOU. So fix it.
And another thing. It's pride month. If you're in the lgbtq+ community, and you don't support black lives matter or the protests, just know that the first pride "parade" was a riot started by black trans women. So the lgbt community and the black community have always been linked together. Remember that. If you're queer and racist, or you're black and homophobic, you shouldn't be included in pride or black lives matter. Because if you support one minority group, you should also support another minority that has also been discriminated against.
If you think I'm wrong, get off my page. See ya.
I know this year has been one hell of a storm, but remember, you're strong, you're stubborn, you can do it. You're not alone in this world, no matter how lonely it feels. I'm here for you guys. As a bisexual woman of color, I stand with black lives matter.
So, stay safe you guys. Remember you're all important and strong and worthy and loved by someone in this world. You matter.
I know, this post was a mess and jumbled up. I'm not good at speeches XD
I'll be posting a one shot based on this prob by tomorrow. Not sure. Anyway, I'll see you all in the next update :) Happy Pride Month 🏳️🌈
