Applejack was anything but oblivious. She noticed whenever Rainbow's behavior changed. She knew her girlfriend like the back of her hand. Well... usually. However, the last couple of days had Applejack conflicted.

Rainbow was acting... weird. Well, weirder than her normal state of weird. For instance, Rainbow Dash seemed to have more energy. She was constantly moving around or talking. She was getting up much earlier. Rainbow loved her sleep, and usually didn't miss a routine nap every afternoon whenever she had to get up early in the morning. However, lately, Rainbow would be going all day without a problem.

Rainbow Dash was also constantly looking at information on astrology and crystals and herbs. She was constantly checking out the properties of plants and such. She always had a black notebook on hand. Applejack would see her writing in it, copying something down or reading from it.

Then, there was the weird items she'd been bringing home. Rainbow had told her that it was a project she was working on, and that she'd show her soon. She brought home a small, black cauldron, a pestle and mortar, tiny glass jars, candlesticks of different colors. The jars each had something different in them, though Applejack didn't get a chance to get a closer look before Rainbow disappeared into a spare room they had, closing the door behind her.

Applejack would repeatedly ask her what she was doing, but Rainbow Dash would always stammer and get nervous. It worried Applejack.

At some point, Applejack feared that Rainbow was doing drugs. She confronted her girlfriend about it and Rainbow had laughed and promised she wasn't. AJ, sensing that as the truth, was now more confused as to what on earth Rainbow could be doing. She didn't know what else to think.

Then, one night, Applejack woke up alone. She wasn't sure as to what had woken her. Turning around, she lifted her phone up, so the screen lit up. It was after three am. AJ looked over towards where her girlfriend would be, but she saw Rainbow's side of the bed was empty. A noise coming from down the hall grabbed her attention. Applejack's brows furrowed. The sound was coming from downstairs, the complete opposite of where the bathroom was. So, Rainbow wasn't using the bathroom.

Rainbow had to be the one making that noise. What was she doing up at this time?

Getting out of bed, she padded across the room, towards the bedroom door. Slowly opening the door, Applejack peeked out into the hall. She could see light coming from another room. Creeping down the hall, she opened the door the light was coming from. Looking inside, she stopped.

The only way to describe the room was... like it was from a fiction book or movie. There were a sort of circle of candles on the floor. The candles weren't lit, luckily. The there were the items Rainbow Dash had bought. AJ stepped into the room, deciding to inspect the scene, making sure to not touch anything. The pestle and mortar were out, along with the jars. The mortar had crushed up stuff in it.

Wanting to know what was in the mixture, Applejack looked at the labeled jars.

Thyme, rose petals, dragon's blood, salt, pyrite, lavender, basil, gold flakes, tiger's eye, cinnamon, camomile, nutmeg, pepper. There were more, but Applejack got the gist of what she was looking at.

She noticed a book sitting in the center of the circle of candles. Applejack leaned over to see better. To her surprise, the writing wasn't in anything she'd seen before. It was all in symbols and a few pictures, but it didn't make sense to her. Taking a step back, Applejack could only come up with one conclusion.

Rainbow Dash was a witch.

It certainly wasn't something Applejack had expected from Rainbow Dash. Rainbow had never seemed like the type to be into witchcraft. Applejack exhaled, taking it all in.

"Okay. This explains a lot." She said to herself.

Why had Rainbow felt the need to hide this from her? Did she think Applejack wouldn't approve?

Applejack was fully awake now. She decided to go find her girlfriend and talk to her about her discovery. Applejack left the room, closing the door behind her. She flicked on the hall light. Venturing downstairs, she called out for Rainbow.

She followed a sound of soft footsteps into the living room.

"Rainbow?" Applejack called, walking into the room, looking around.

For the second time that night, she was thrown in for a loop. Looking back at her, wasn't her girlfriend, but a small, blue, puppy. Applejack blinked. There was a dog in her house. The pup saw her and quickly ran behind the couch to hide.

"What in the..."

Applejack slowly walked towards the couch. Peeking behind it, keeping her distance, she could see the puppy hunched down. This dog was very different than most dogs. Its ears were pointed up. It's fur was thicker than most dogs, and it's muzzle was.....

Applejack's eyes widened. This wasn't a dog. It was a wolf. Applejack quickly backed up.

"Oh my gods. That's a wolf."

What should she do? Call the police? Try to get it out of the house herself? How did a wolf pup get in in the first place? Where was Rainbow Dash?

A bark got her attention. Applejack saw the pup come out of hiding. It slowly walked up to her, it's tail between its hind legs. It seemed harmless enough. Suddenly, the pup ran past her and out down the hall.

"Hey!"

AJ chased after it. The wolf pup made its way upstairs. Applejack hoped it wasn't going after any of her stuff. However, the pup stopped in front of the room Applejack had just been in, with Rainbow's new witch stuff. Applejack connected the two.

"You wanna go in there?" She asked.

The wolf pup yapped at her in response. Applejack's eyes widened. The pup could understand her. She had a feeling that nagged at her, the longer she thought about the whole situation.

"No way." She breathed.

Applejack opened the door, the pup going right in. Applejack hesitantly followed it into the room. The pup went right into the circle of candles. The candles suddenly lit themselves. Applejack jumped back, watching the scene unfold before her eyes. Within the circle of candles, a symbol began to glow on the floor. The glow enveloped the wolf completely. Applejack had to squint due to the brightness. Then, the wolf pup morphed into a human. A familiar human.

Rainbow was sitting on the floor, blinking. She looked down at her hands, checking herself over.
She then looked sheepishly up at Applejack. She smiled nervously.

"Hey, Apples. I can explain."

So yeah. Lemme know your thoughts :)
