"New foster kids??", Applejack asked.

Twilight nodded.

"Yeah. Both girls. One is about our age and the other is 10. They're sisters. It's so sad".

"Why??".

Applejack sat on Twilight's bed. Twilight sighed.

"This is their fifth foster home in the past two years. My dad told me that they were abused and so they were taken away".

Applejack's mouth fell open.

"Oh wow. Well ah think that they'll like it here", Twilight said lookimg around her room. You see, Twilight's parents were foster parents. She was their biological daughter. They just decided to open their house for foster kids. They have been doing that for a few years now.

Everything was nice and neat as usual.

"When are they comin??".

"In a bit".

Applejack smiled. "Can ah meet em??. Bein next door and all. We could be friends with the girl our age. Ah could bring Applebloom over some time an she could make friends with the little one. She needs friends".

Twilight smiled.

"That's a great idea. C'mon. Let's go get a snack before they get here".

The two teens got up and walked out of the room. Heading downstairs they saw Twilight's parents.

They headed into the kitchen. The girls sat down with a plate of apple slices.

Applejack bit into one.

"So", she said. "You think the teen girl will be cute??".

Twilight rolled her eyes.

"Seriously??. That's what you're thinking??".

Twilight giggled. "Not sure. But try not to scare her away. She's been through enough. She doesn't need a blonde country girl as a neighbor that hits on her".

Applejack lightly pushed her.

"Shut up. Ah won't", she said grabbing the last apple slice.

"Girls??", they heard Twilight's mom call. "They're here!!".

Applejack and Twilight got up and walked out to the front door, where Twilight's parents stood. The door opened. A woman came in. She was obviously the social worker. She had pink and purple hair.

"Hi", she said. "I'm Cadence. Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo's social worker".

She shook the other adults' hands.

"Now. They're shy and a little uneasy about being here. They're not going to talk much for a while. Rainbow has trust issues with people and Scootaloo doesn't like to be away from Rainbow for more than a few minutes. After all, they're all they have left".

Applejack and Twilight looked at eachother.

Twilight's parents nodded. The front door opened again. Two girls walked in. The taller and older had rainbow colored hair and light blue skin. She had magenta colored eyes. The smaller girl, her sister, had orange skin with feathery purplish colored hair. She had a weird shade of purple. They weren't sure.

But man, the older one was cute. Applejack looked her over. She looked smaller than them from the distance she was at.

Everyone was quiet. The smaller girl clung to her sister, who had protective arms around her. They pulled in their backpacks and one luggage for each of them.

"This is Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo", Cadence said smiling.

"Say hi girls".

Scootaloo looked at Rainbow Dash. The older girl nodded and mouthed something to her. Scootaloo looked at Twilight's parents.

"Hi".

Rainbow Dash waved quietly.

"Hi", Twilight's mother said smiling.

"I'm Moonlight and this is my husband Orion".

Rainbow Dash looked around. Her eyes landed on Applejack and Twilight. Moonlight saw them. She motioned for them to come over.

"This is my daughter Twilight", she said placing a hand on Twilight's shoulder.

Twilight smiled. "Hello".

"And this her friend Applejack. They were excited to meet you girls".

Applejack smiled at Rainbow Dash.

"We can show you to your room", Twilight said.

Scootaloo's eyes widened. She clung to Rainbow Dash. She thought they were gunna be separated.

Cadence shook her head. "Scootaloo. They're not taking you away from Rainbow. You'll be sharing the room with her. You'll sleep in separate beds if you'd like".

Rainbow smoothed her sister's hair. Scootaloo relaxed a little. The two girls timidly followed Twilight, her mother and Applejack to a room. It was the decent size. It had two already made beds.

"You girls hungry??".

The girls shook their heads.

Moonlight smiled. She knelt down.

"Okay. Well uh, we'll let you girls get settled in. Remember. I'm Moonlight. You can come to me if you have any problems".

Rainbow and Scootaloo nodded. Moonlight stood up and left. Rainbow looked at Twilight and Applejack. The two teens smiled.

"Hi", Applejack said. "As you already know, Ah'm Applejack. Ah live next door so Ah'm here alot. If you ever wanna talk or somethin, just find us. We'd love ta get ta know ya".

Rainbow stared at her. Scootaloo nodded, not looking at her.

Applejack and Twilight said bye and walked out.

The girls looked around their room. Scootaloo began to sniffle. She hugged Rainbow Dash.

"I want mommy".

Rainbow put her stuff down. She picked up her sister and sat on one of the beds, Scootaloo on her lap. She rocked the girl.

"I know", she whispered. "But we have eachother. Right??. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere".

"I'm scared", Scootaloo cried.

Rainbow nodded. "Me too kiddo. Me too".

Applejack and Twilight stood in the hallway outside the door. They looked at eachother and frowned. Applejack felt bad for the girls. She decided that they should make them feel as welcome as they possibly could, without overbearing them.

Next few days were very quiet. The two sisters barely spoke to anyone. Scootaloo was by Rainbow's side at all times. The family and Applejack quickly learned that the girls had trust issues with adults. They didn't like it when either parent touched them.

Rainbow had spoken to Applejack once or twice but it was only a few words and nothing more.

Finally came the day they had to go to school. When they were told the girls simply nodded.

"What school??", Rainbow asked.

"Canterlot high but all grades are in there so you girls won't be apart for long".

"Oh okay. When do we go??".

"Tomorrow".

Rainbow nodded. They already had school supplies given to them by a foster care foundation. They were all set. All they needed, was to go.

"That's the foster girls in your home??", Rarity asked Twilight.

The girls watched as Rainbow sat down with Scootaloo at an empty table. The two sisters sat together and ate.

"That's not right", Pinkie said. "They shouldn't be alone. Let's go say hi".

The girls nodded, smiling. They all got up with their trays and walked over to the pair.

"Rainbow. Scootaloo".

The two looked up and saw them.

"Can we sit with ya??", Applejack asked.

They nodded. The girls sat down.

"These are our friends. Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Rarity".

The three waved and greeted them.

"What do you think of the school so far??", Twilight asked.

Rainbow shrugged. "It's okay. Noisy but everyone here very nice and friendly".

Applejack smiled at her.

"You're very pretty if ya don't mind me sayin. Both of ya".

Rainbow blushed and looked at Scootaloo. The younger smiled.

"Thanks. So you are. All of you".

The girls looked at eachother. They liked the sisters right away. They could tell they were gunna great friends.

So weeks went by. Then minths. The girls had been in the Sparkle home for 6 months. Scootaloo opened up a bit. She was very helpful around the house. Whenever Moonlight asked for something Scootaloo was more than happy to help. But she was never far away from Rainbow Dash.

Applejack introduced her to her sister Applebloom. The two and Applebloom's friend Sweetiebelle hit it off right away. They were already talking and laughing.

Rainbow wished it were that easy for herself. She had a hard time opening up the girls. But she felt herself attached to Applejack when not around Applebloom in school.

She went everywhere with the blonde. She also had formed a secret crush on her friend. Applejack was just so sweet and always made her feel comfortable and never pressed her to do or say anything. She even was there to get rid of any unwanted attention from nosy teens.

Applejack was very protective of her. She had a big crush on her best friend. She had gotten to know Rainbow Dash and she fell in love with her personality.

The girl was sporty and tomboyish. Rainbow didn't show much affection and was often rather quiet when upset. Which was alot.

Applejack would always come to the room to see Rainbow crying into her pillow when she thought noone was home. She, not including Scootaloo, was the only one to see this side of Rainbow Dash.

The teen only allowed this side to be shown only around the blonde girl. She just trusted Applejack on a different level than everyone else. She trusted her sister much more. But that's not the point.

They could talk about anything with eachother.

So one day, Applejack was really curious. So she asked.

"Rainbow??".

Rainbow looked up at her.

"What's it like bein in foster care??".
