Rainbow Dash looked out of the window at waiting crowds. The screams of excitement from the fans were deafening, even inside the limo. Rainbow turned her head.

She looked at the girl in front of her. Sitting across from her in all her glory and beauty and awesomeness, was Applejack Smith. The most famous teenage country singer/actress in Equestria.

Applejack had been performing since she was small. About two years ago she signed a record label. In no time at all she was a hit. She traveled the world, making movies every now and again. People knew her all over Equestria, adoring the blonde teen.

Rainbow could see why. She was beautiful. Long golden hair, perfect tan skin, skinny yet toned, grassy green eyes that twinkled when she smiled. Applejack was perfection.

"You ready??", she asked.

Applejack looked at her. She smiled, white pearly teeth showing.

"Yup".

"Now remember", Rainbow said. "You can wave and say hi and all that, but don't let any of them touch you. Got it??".

Applejack nodded, grinning.

"Ah've been doin this fir years RD. Ah think ah know how ta walk through a crowd by now".

"Just keeping you safe is all", Rainbow said turning back to look out the window. "It's my job after all".

Rainbow was one of Applejack's bodyguards. Top bodyguard if I do.say so myself. Not to brag of course. Rainbow Dash went everywhere with Applejack. She did her job and protected Applejack. She even taught the young singer some self defense tricks. It would come in handy.

Rainbow nodded.

"Alright", she said to the other security guards and Applejack.

"Come on".

They group opened the door. The crowd became even louder as Applejack stepped out of the vehicle. She smiled and waved at the crowd.

As she walked, she glanced over Rainbow who was walking beside her, a stone cold serious look on her face. Applejack smiled and nudged her.

"C'mon", she said, raising her voice so Rainbow could hear. "Loosen up a little".

Rainbow gave a smile. The two talked as they walked. Rainbow's eyes scanned the crowd at they went through. Finally they got inside.

As soon as they got backstage, Applejack was whisked away backstage to get ready. Rainbow stayed behind with her team members.

Rainbow called a good luck which Applejack was able to flash a smile at her before dissappearing.

The crowd was enormous. Rainbow looked around in amazement. All these people were coming to see Applejack. The teen was suddenly filled with pride. Applejack had done an amazing job. She was a celebrity, adored by thousands and thousands of people, Rainbow being one of them.

Rainbow was stationed at the foot of the stage. Some men who were also security were on either side of her. Rainbow glanced around at the crowd. She kept her gaze on the people as the concert started.

The crowd suddenly went wild. Rainbow guessed Applejack had come out. She wished she could turn around to see what Applejack looked like at that moment but couldn't. She only stared ahead. She could only stand there and do her job. She was sure Applejack looked amazing as always.

It all happened too quickly.

Rainbow was scanning the crowd. She suddenly saw a man that stood out in the crowd. She saw the gun. She gasped.

"Gun!!".

Rainbow realized the gun was pointing at something. Following the trail of the gun she saw it was pointing right at Applejack. Oh no.

Rainbow thought quickly. She turned and jumped up on stage. Applejack looked up at her confused and shocked.

Rainbow ran towards her. Everything seemed to go in slow motion. Rainbow ran up to Applejack. She blocked Applejack from the crowd. Not even a second later a gun shot was sounded. It rang out through the arena, along with terrified screams.

Rainbow fell to the floor, a scream of pain erupted from her. She fell on her side, her hands clutching her side. Applejack knelt down beside her.

What the heck just happened??.

"Rainbow!!".

Rainbow was gasping her pain.

"A-Are you hurt??", she asked.

Applejack shook her head. She looked down at the wound on Rainbow's side. It was bleeding.

"No. Rainbow. How-".

A medical team and security rushed on stage. Applejack was whisked away, not having a say in the matter. She looked back at Rainbow as she lay on the floor, a medical team surrounding her.

Applejack couldn't believe it. Rainbow took the bullet for her. The singer sat in the chair, thinking back to the events of earlier.

Rainbow was rushed to the hospital. The man that shot her was nearly beaten to death by the crowd had not the police got him out and arrested him.

Applejack was told all from videos that were posted online. Media was going crazy, especially twitter. Applejack wasn't allowed to send a tweet saying she was fine just yet. Right now, the blonde teen was sitting in a waiting room. Rainbow was in emergency surgery. She was terrified yet grateful yet relieved yet worried yet........ angry.

Applejack was angry at the man that shot that stupid bullet. She was mad that the security him by, the gun unnoticed. She was mad at Rainbow for taking the bullet for her when it should've been her in surgery right now.

Rainbow didn't do anything to deserve this. She was was a good person who was just doing her normal every day job of protecting her. Oh.

Applejack realized that Rainbow did exactly that. Her job. She protected Applejack from the bullet. Applejack had always thought of Rainbow Dash as the best bodyguard in the world. She was also Applejack's friend. The teen was a hard worker. She was funny, laid back, protective of Applejack at times.

Applejack also had feelings for her. Though she knew Rainbow liked girls as well, she didn't think Rainbow liked her back. But after tonight, she didn't think she could hold back her feelings anymore.

One thing was for sure. She was getting answers.

Suddenly a woman came up to her.

"Are you here for Rainbow Dash??".

Applejack nodded.

The woman motioned for her to follow her. Applejack stood up and followed. The two walked through a few hallways. They came to a room.

"She just got out a while ago so she's on medication. She'll be pretty tired and might not stay awake for long".

Applejack nodded.

"Thank you".

The nurse smiled and left her. Applejack opened the door and walked in. She drew back the curtain. She stopped. Rainbow Dash was laying on her hospital bed, sleeping.

Applejack quietly walked over to the bed. She pulled up a chair and sat down. She sat there, silently.

Applejack nearly fell asleep until she saw movement from the girl. Looking up, she saw Rainbow shifting around, her eyes blinking open. The rainbow haired girl looked around before looking at Applejack.

"Applejack", she said.

Applejack sat up.

"Rainbow", she said.

It was quiet for a moment.

"Ah don't even know what ta say", Applejack admitted. "What happened?".

Rainbow sighed. She laid back. "I was lookimg at the crowd. A man stood out to me for some reason. Then I saw the gun. It was pointing at you. He was going to kill you. I shouted gun and got up on the stage and..... you know the rest".

Rainbow looked at her.

"Are you sure you're alright??", she asked.

Applejack chuckled. "Rainbow. Ya got shot and you're askin me if ah'm alright??".

Rainbow nodded. "Yeah, and??".

"I'm fine", she said. "But why would do that??".

Rainbow slowly shook her head.

"I'm wasn't about to let you get shot. I had to do something. One second I'm running towards, then I'm on the floor, in terrible pain and bleeding".

Rainbow's hand slowly went to her side.

"Hurt like never before", she said.

Applejack sat up a little.

"Rainbow??", she said.

Applejack got up and sat down on the bed. She stared at Rainbow Dash for a moment. Then she wrapped her arms around her, pulling her in for a hug. Rainbow hugged back.

"Ah'm so glad you're alright", Applejack said. "Ah was so scared. Ah didn't know if you'd make it ir not".

Rainbow pulled away. Applejack looked at her worriedly.

"How do ya feel after the surgery??".

Rainbow shrugged.

"I don't remember half the things that happened since I was shot. I guess I feel fine. Just a little pain".

"If you need anythin', tell me".

Rainbow nodded. She smiled.

"Thanks".

Applejack laughed. "Thanks??. Rainbow. You saved mah life. Thank YOU. I really mean it. Thank you so much for what you did. You didn't have ta".

Rainbow shrugged. "I know".

"Why??".

"Because I'd rather die than have something bad happen to you", Rainbow said honestly.

Applejack bit her lip.

"Rainbow. Ah love you".

Rainbow raised an eyebrow.

"Um, love you too".

Applejack sighed. "No", she said. "Ah mean it. Ah love you. Ah'm not just saying that because of what you did fir me. Ah'm tellin' you because ah realized you could've died and I wouldn't have been able ta tell you. So ah thought you should know now".

Rainbow smiled. "You seriously mean it??"

Applejack nodded. "Yeah".

"I love you too".

Applejack was so glad that Rainbow felt the same way.

"After this is over and everythin calms down, ah'm takin' you on a date".

Rainbow blushed.

"Sure".

Rainbow suddenly yawned. Applejack smiled.

"Get some rest", she said. "Ah'll be right here".

Rainbow nodded. "Yes ma'am".

The teen laid her head down, closing her eyes. Asami laid down beside her. The blonde took her hand in hers. She ran her thumb over her knuckles lightly. Rainbow was out like a light.

Applejack had to admit, she looked cute asleep. Just like every other time. Applejack would look at her chest every now and again to watch the rise and fall of her chest. She needed to reassure herself Rainbow Dash was still alive.

At some point, Applejack pressed her ear against Rainbow's chest. She listened to the strong steady heartbeat. She was alive. She was okay.

"I'm not going anywhere".

Applejack jumped back. She looked up to see Rainbow looking at her, a smile on her face. Applejack blushed.

"Sorry".

"Don't be", Rainbow said. "You have your reasons".

Applejack wrapped her arms around her.

"Just makin' sure you're alive. Ah get scared".

Rainbow laughed lightly.

"Applejack. I'm fine. I'm not dead. But I would do it again if it comes down to it".

Applejack grunted. "There better not be a next time".

Applejack slipped her hand into Rainbow's.

"Bodyguard ir not, you're never doing something crazy like that again, ya hear??".

Rainbow smiled at the singer. "I was doing my job, AJ".

She pecked her cheek. "I'll always protect you. No matter what".

Applejack sighed. "Fine. Ah know that. Next time, ah wanna do the savin".

Rainbow laughed. "It's official. We're eachother's bodyguards".

Applejack smiled. "Yup. You need protection too".

Rainbow looked at her and gave a aww.

"I feel so loved", she said. "It's feel like a celebrity".

Applejack smiled. "Good".
