Applejack sighed boredly. She looked up at her girlfriend, Rainbow Dash. The teen was sitting next to her reading a book.

"Hey Rainbow??".

Rainbow looked at her quietly.

"What do you wanna do??. Wanna go to the movies??".

Rainbow shrugged. "Do you??", she asked back.

Applejack nodded.

Rainbow put her book down. "Then, we'll go".

Applejack smiled. "Ah heard there's a new scary movie that was just released, Ah've been dyin ta see it".

Rainbow bit her lip.

"Then..... let's go see it".

Applejack covered her ears and shut her eyes tight. She tried to hide her fear but it was kinda hard with her eyes shut so tightly.

She felt a tap on her shoulder. Jumping, she looked to her left. She saw Applejack looking at her.

"You alright??", Applejack asked.

Rainbow smiled and nodded. "Yeah".

Applejack gave her a concerned look.

"You sure??. We can leave".

Rainbow nodded. "I'm sure. Plus, you really wanted to see this movie. Enjoy it".

Applejack held her hand and looked back at the screen. Rainbow covered her eyes again. But didn't make another sound.

"Babe??. Let's go out to dinner".

Rainbow looked up from her book. She mentally groaned. She was just getting to the good part.

She said, "Kay", and got up to put her shows on. The girls soon left and drove on out.

Rainbow stared at the window. She brought the book with her. The book in her lap

"So, where do you wanna go??".

Rainbow looked at her.

"Whatever you want", she said.

Applejack raised an eyebrow. This was normal for Rainbow Dash to say. She usually let Applejack pick everything. Where they went, what they did together. It, of course, bothered Applejack to no end but she never voiced her thoughts to the younger girl.

"Umm, how bout' five guys??".

Rainbow shrugged. "If you wanna go there, then okay. It's your choice".

Applejack was silent as she made the turn. Something was not right here.

Rainbow as she finally was able to have a moment of peace and silence.
Sitting down, she curled up on the couch and opened her book.

Suddenly, a door slamming was heard. Rainbow looked up to see and angry Applejack walking into the room.

"You know", Applejack said marching up to her. "Ah'm getting really fed up with you".

Rainbow sat up straight, closing her book. She was silent. Applejack crossed her arms.

"Why don't you ever tell me anythin??", Applejack asked. "Why do ah always gotta find you reading those books??".

Rainbow shrugged. "I love reading. You know that".

"But you're always readin. Ya don't talk ta me. That's real selfish of ya. Don't cha think about how she's feel when ah come home an ya don't even say hello sometimes. You just sit there an ignore me. What the hell??".

Rainbow looked down at her lap guiltily.

"I'm sorry".

Applejack rolled her eyes. "Sorry??. That's it??".

Rainbow shrugged. "What do you want me to do??".

"Ah want cha ta start paying attention to the world around you. And ah don't me just me. You read in class and don't pay attention. You ignore the gals when they're talkin' to ya. Everyone had noticed it. Not just me".

Rainbow hugged her book to her chest, and looked down at her lap.

"Oh".

"Yeah".

Applejack looked really mad.

"Okay. I'm sorry I hurt you. I'll do better".

Applejack raised an eyebrow.

"Huh??".

Rainbow sighed. "I said. I'm sorry. You're right. I'm selfish and self centered and I hurt the people around me. If you want, I can just not read in public or in front of you".

Rainbow looked at her book in her hands. She slowly put the book on the coffee table in front of her.

"Just stop yelling. Please".

Applejack walked up to her. Kneeling down, she looked up at Rainbow.

"Rainbow. Ah never said anythin like that. You're gunna hate me for this but uh...... Ah lied".

Rainbow looked at her questioningly.
Applejack rubbed the back of her neck.

"Ah made that whole story up".

Rainbow stared at her for a moment.

"Oh okay".

Applejack stared at her. "Now, there's the actual problem here. You never argue back with me. You always agree with what ah say".

Rainbow shrugged. "Ah don't know what cha mean??".

Applejack got up and sat down beside Rainbow Dash. She and her faced eachother.

"Yes. You do", Applejack said. "You let me pick everythin we do. You never say anything back or argue when ah say somethin rude or jokin around with ya. You just agreed that you're selfish when you are not. Why do you do that??".

It was quiet.

"I don't want to start an argument".

Applejack stared at her.

Rainbow sighed.

"Can I explain??".

Applejack nodded. "You don't have to explain yirself but it would help".

Rainbow looked at her lap.

"My parents..... they fought alot when I was growing up. They were never happy and swore at eachother. My dad would sometimes hit my mom".

Applejack gasped. Rainbow sighed. "They always argued. They stopped loving eachother. It always was because they disagreed on something. I don't want that to be us".

Applejack reached out and took her hand.

"Rainbow. Baby".

Rainbow looked at their joined hands.
"Are you afraid of me??".

Rainbow didn't respond. The silence spoke itself. Applejack's eyes widened.

"Baby. Why??. Is it because ah'm taker than you??. Have muscles??".

Rainbow nodded. "You're bigger and that scares me. You could hurt me if you wanted to. So I don't want to get you mad at me. You're scary when you're mad. That's why I always agree with you and all that. I'm kinda scared of you".

Applejack felt her heart break. She stared Rainbow, not knowing what to say. Finally she shook her head slowly.

"Rainbow".

Applejack reached up and touched her cheek. Rainbow froze under the touch. Then she flinched slightly when Applejack's thumb ran over her cheek slowly.

"Rainbow. Please don't be scared. Ah would never hurt chu. You should know that".

Applejack smiled softly.

"Why didn't cha tell me about your parents??".

Rainbow shrugged. "I didn't think you'd be interested to know".

Applejack's mouth fell open.

"Not care??. This is your life. Of coarse ah wanna hear about it. It's about you. You're mah girlfriend and that's somethin that ah think would be very vital fir me ta know. Now, please listen. Don't be afraid ta voice yir thoughts around me. Whatever you feel, whenever, tell me if ah ask you. When somethin is botherin ya, tell me so ah can make it better. Ah don't want ya ta be afraid of me. That's not a healthy relationship. It ain't and ah want cha ta know that ah will never hurt you. Ah love you too much".

Rainbow's eyes widened.

"You do??".

Applejack nodded. "Yeah and ah don't want cha ta be afraid of me. Ah promise ta never be like yir father. Ah would rather die than hurt you physically or yell at you. It ain't yir fault. Ah'm sorry if ah scared you a while ago. Ah was only tryna see how you would react. From now on, if you disagree on somethin ah say ir want, tell me. We won't argue. No fighting. No arguing. No yelling. None. We'll talk it out quietly. Okay??".

Rainbow nodded. Applejack pulled her in for a hug.

"Ah love you", Applejack said smiling. Rainbow snuggled into her hug.

"I love you too".

Pulling away, Rainbow looked at her book. She reached for it but froze. She pulled her hand back and looked at Applejack in fear.

"I-I wasn't gunna read it, I swear. I just w-wanted to put it away".

Applejack smiled. "It's alright. You can read yir book".

Rainbow bit her lip.

"Ya sure??. Didn't you say a while ago that I-".

Applejack shook her head. "Ah didn't mean a word ah said. Promise. You're not selfish or greedy or self-centered. Ah just made that up ta try an getcha ta react. Ah wanted you ta yell back. But cha didn't".

Rainbow looked at the floor. Applejack reached out and touched her shoulder.

"Ah'm sorry for scarin ya. From now on you tell me if you don't agree with me".

Rainbow nodded and kissed her cheek.

"Okay. I will".

Applejack stood. "Now. Let's go watch a movie. There's a scary movie a wanna see".

Rainbow looked doen, biting her lip.

"Yeah...... about that..... uhhh".

Applejack frowned.

"Rainbow. What's wrong??".

Rainbow looked at her hands.

"I'm afraid of scary movies".

Applejack's eyes widened.

"Why didn't cha tell me??. You must've been terrified of that movie we saw last weekend", she asked.

Rainbow shrugged. "I like seeing you happy and you really wanted to watch it".

Applejack's fell open. She felt bad.

"Baby. C'mere".

Rainbow stood up and looked at Applejack. The blonde wrapped her arms around her waist, pulling her close.

"Then you lied when ah asked you if you were okay".

Rainbow looked down, feeling bad.

"Sorry. I just didn't want to ruin the movie for you. You were enjoying ir alot and us leaving, I thought you wouldn't be happy with just being with me".

Applejack laughed. "Baby. Th at is crazy. Of coarse ah would be happy with you. You make me happy. The reason ah was happy at the movies was cuz you were there with me. It's you that makes me happy, nothin else. Now promise me you'll tell me what you think from now on".

Rainbow nodded. She looked back at the book on the coffee table then back up at Applejack. She looked down at her hands.

"This is gunna take a while to do", she mumbled out loud.

Applejack smiled kindly. "Babe. Tell me. What is it you want??".

Rainbow bit her lip, looking at her.

"Can I read my book now or are we doing something else??. I'm up for anything you wanna-".

Applejack placed a hand on her mouth. Rainbow looked at her. Applejack chuckled.

"Enough of what ah want. What do YOU wanna do??".

She told her hand off of Rainbow's mouth. Rainbow looked at her for a moment.

"What do you wanna do right now??", Applejack asked quietly.

"Read my book", Rainbow answered.

Applejack nodded. "Okay. Then. If that's what you really wanna do, you can read. Ah'll just watch tv while you read. Okay??".

Rainbow nodded. It was quiet for a moment. Rainbow looked between Applejack and the book, a hesitant look on her face.

"Can I uh...... pick up my book now??".

Applejack nodded. Rainbow grabbed her book and whipped it open, flipping to where she left off.

Applejack grabbed the remote control and turned the tv on. Rainbow leaned on her. Applejack smiled and wrapped an arm around her shoulders. Rainbow curled up beside her, silently reading.

Applejack looked at the girl. Rainbow had a smile on her face. A real smile.
Applejack smiled herself. Everything was right in the world once again in the Appledash house. For now.
