Rarity and Sunset Shimmer looked at each other from across the room. Rarity gave a thumbs up and then went back to looking at her phone.
It took a bit of discussing and a few weeks of actually getting a day where Applejack and Rainbow could be comfortable. Applejack had been quite busy the past month or two. With interviews and performances. A bit of traveling to other towns. Rainbow had gone with her a few times, the girls wanting Rainbow Dash to see the world and not stay cooped up in Applejack's large house.
Rainbow was so excited to see all the new faces and places. Her adventurous side came out during those trips.
The magazines were now filled with updates on pics of Rainbow Dash and Applejack, still wondering who Rainbow was and even questioned her beanie and lack of display of ears on the sides of her head.
Applejack had kept Rainbow out of her interviews, not wanting anyone to ask Rainbow questions Rainbow was for certain not going to want to answer, but brought her to recording sessions along with whatever of their friends that had nothing else to do on those days, to keep Rainbow company. Rainbow Dash got to meet her dad as well. All their friends had come with them that day.
Her dad had loved Rainbow Dash immediately.
He treated her like his own kid. He showed her around the studio and talked to her and even played with her. He was pretty okay with Rainbow being part animal. After the initial shock wore off, he was fine and accepted Rainbow Dash with a big fatherly hug.
Applejack showed her the recording booth. The sound guy showed her the controls and what they did. He even let her play with the controls.
Everyone that worked there was sworn not to tell anyone about Rainbow. They let Rainbow walk freely around the place, already getting use to her. Of course Rainbow got some weird looks as she walked around all fours down the halls of the building. Applejack just told Rainbow to ignore it. The two had spent a while exploring the place together, Applejack bring the watchful eye over Rainbow. Rainbow returned the favor by sticking to Applejack's side.
That day, she had been like a guard dog and warily eyed any adult that got close to Applejack or talked to her. It was hilarious to watch for the other girls.
They knew Rainbow Dash was jealous. At times Applejack displayed some jealousy when Rainbow was inspecting someone, smelling their hand to get their scent, or being carried on someone's back. Applejack would try to hide a pout or a scowl and she would call Rainbow to look at something and Rainbow Dash would be right back by her side.
Everyone loved Rainbow Dash.
After that they had went out to eat pizza. Rainbow tried it for the first time, which she loved. Rainbow got a side order of chicken tenders. Applejack also bought fries for the group to share and a cheeseburger. She had split it between Rainbow and herself.
Rainbow had claimed to have had the best meal of her life that day. Rainbow was particularly hungry that day, so she ate her portion of food after trying and loving all of it. Of course, she shared the meal with their friends if they asked for a bite.
Now they had gone to that spot to eat every time they went to the studio.
Sunset looked over at where Rainbow Dash and Applejack were sitting on the living room couch. Applejack had her guitar on her lap, working on a song, with Rainbow sitting cross cross, eating a large chocolate chip cookie, listening and watching with pure interest. But it was probably just the sugar she was consuming at the moment.
Sunset knew that Applejack working on a love song. She took the opportunity.
"Hey, Applejack." She spoke up. "How's the song going??."
Applejack looked up at her.
"Pretty good." She replied, looking up. "Ah think ah'm done."
"Can we hear what you have??". Twilight asked.
Applejack looked down at a notebook she had laying in front of her.
"Ah don't know." She said uncertainly. "I-It might not be good."
"Are you kidding??." Rainbow spoke up, smiling.
The girls looked at her.
"Your songs are always awesome." She complimented. "You write and sing songs for a living, for Pete sake."
Rainbow leaned forward, pouting.
"Can you show us your song?? Please?? You don't have to even sing. Just strum."
Applejack was still not sure if she wanted to. She looked at Rainbow Dash. Rainbow looked so hopeful and excited. Man. She was a sucker for this girl. Applejack couldn't find it in herself to say no to her.
She sighed and smiled, reaching over and scratching behind of her ears. "Alright. Just a little bit."
Rainbow cheered. She ate the last of cookie, chocolate getting in her cheeks and fingers which she licked away.
The others looked at each other. Of course Applejack would do whatever Rainbow asked her to do, just to make her happy. It was hilarious and they would have to use for later purposes in life.
Applejack sighed, adjusting her guitar on her lap. She put her fingers on the first chord, looking at the notebook in front of her. She began to play and sing. The girls listened to the song, swaying to the rhythm. As she sang, Applejack looked at Rainbow Dash. Rainbow was smiling, swaying as well. Applejack smiled.
Rainbow looked more beautiful than usual. Her eyes entrancing the young country singer.
The singer stared at Rainbow throughout the song, occasionally looking down at her guitar. If someone were watching, just seeing them for the first time, they'd think Applejack was serenading Rainbow Dash.
The two locked eyes as the song ended. Applejack exhaled softly. The girls all clapped. Applejack looked at the others.
"That was great." Fluttershy complimented, smiling.
Applejack smiled. She looked at Rainbow.
"That was amazing!." Rainbow exclaimed, practically bouncing on the sofa.
Applejack blushed a little red.
"Thanks, guys. But, it's just a rough draft. Ah wanna look it over n' see how ah can make it better."
Rainbow made a pshh sound.
"How can a song get better than that?. That song is better than anything I could write."
"Have you ever written a song, Rainbow??." Sunset asked, genuinely curious.
Rainbow paused. She noticeably shrunk back at the question.
"I-I didn't say that."
"But have you?." Sunset pressed.
Rainbow shrunk back even more. She smiled and nodded shyly.
"It's not great. One of the people that took care of me helped me write it. I think the music with it is called jazz or something."
The girls were immediately interested. Especially Applejack.
"Wait." She said, leaning forward.
"You wrote a song?? Do ya have it with you??."
Rainbow nodded timidly. "Yeah. In a notebook."
"Go get the notebook." Applejack said. "Ah wanna see what you've written."
Rainbow looked away.
"Oh um, I-It's not that good. You don't wanna see it. It's pretty terrible."
"Rainbow." Applejack said.
Rainbow looked up at her. Applejack smiled hopefully at her.
"Please?? Ah just wanna see the lyrics. Ah'm sure it ain't that bad."
Rainbow sighed. "Fine. I'll go get it."
Rainbow got up. She got on all fours and scampered out of the room. Applejack chuckled, watching the younger girl leave.
A few minutes later, Rainbow came back with a red composition notebook in her mouth. She walked over to the couch and sat back down. Applejack laughed and took the notebook out of her mouth.
The other girls went over to them. They leaned in to see what Rainbow had written as well.
Rainbow let her friends read the lyrics she had written for the song. The song was called Turn up the stars.
Rainbow sat silently, watching for their reactions. Applejack smiled. She glanced up at Rainbow Dash.
"These are really good lyrics." She said, impressed.
Rainbow smiled. "You think so??."
Applejack nodded, handing her back the red notebook.
"Yeah. Maybe one day we can turn it into a track, with music n' record it, if you would like to."
Rainbow was shocked. Her eyes were wide.
"Really?? You'd do that??. But why?? My song-."
"Is amazin" Applejack cut her off, smiling brightly. "Rainbow. You're amazing at writing. Did ja know that?."
She nudged Rainbow Dash's arm.
"Ah'm so proud of you, RD. And kinda impressed. Ah really am."
Rainbow beamed at the praise. She felt good knowing Applejack liked her song.
"Hey, Rainbow." Pinkie said, getting her attention.
Rainbow looked over at her. Pinkie was laying on the floor, her phone in hand.
"Do people animal hybrids have crushes on humans??"
Rainbow nodded. "Yeah. We can like humans, but it's kind of rare for a hybrid to date a human. Humans think we're freaks or weird, so they tend to stay away from us."
"Really?." Twilight asked. "What do you prefer?? What's your sexuality??"
Rainbow's facial expression turned to confusion.
"Sexuwhat??."
"What she means ta say is do ya like guys or girls??." Applejack asked. "Or both."
"Oh." Rainbow said. "Girls."
Sunset and Rarity looked each other, grinning.
Rainbow frowned. "Are you guys okay with that??." She asked, a hint of fear in her voice.
"Rainbow." Applejack said, reaching a hand out and touching her knee.
"Ah like girls, too. Sunset is bi. The rest of em' are celestia knows what and might as well be gay anyway from how we're all over each other all the time and don't seem ta mind."
Twilight, Fluttershy, Rarity, and Pinkie playfully glared at Applejack, but then smiled.
Rainbow was a little shocked. "You like girls??." She asked Applejack.
Applejack nodded. "Yeah. So don't worry. You fit right in with us."
Rainbow exhaled in relief. "That's good."
She leaned back in the couch, curling up.
"Do you have a girlfriend??." Rainbow asked, out of pure curiosity. Applejack shook her head.
"Ah use to, but not now."
Rainbow tilted her head to the side.
"Used to??. What happened??."
Applejack shrugged. "Ah broke up with her. She was just after the fame and mah money."
She snorted. "Typical."
Rainbow pouted, feeling bad.
"I'm sorry. That's wasn't very nice of her."
Then she grinned. Rainbow scooted over towards her and hugged Applejack's arm.
"She was an idiot. Now you're mine to keep." She declared, jokingly.
Applejack giggled. "Ah have no problem with that, actually."
She shrugged. Rainbow looked up at her, smiling brightly, her pearly white teeth showing.
"Don't worry." She then said. "I'm sure you'll find someone to love you and date. I know I love you. I'd totally date you if you liked me like that."
Applejack raised an eyebrow. Wait what??
She looked at Rainbow Dash.
"You would??."
Rainbow nodded without hesitation or a second thought. "Yeah. What's not to like about you?. You're smart, beautiful, incredibly talented, cool, really nice, a great singer, and an amazing person. No wonder I have such a big crush on you."
She had said it with such confidence and without hesitation or shyness. A few seconds later, Rainbow's eyes widened when she realized what she had just confessed. Horror was written all over her face.
"Wait......"
It went silent as everyone in the room stared at her with wide eyes.
Applejack stared at Rainbow Dash.
"Rainbow. You-."
"Forget I said anything!." Rainbow nearly shouted, panic in her big, magenta eyes.
She got up and quickly ran out of the room. Applejack sat there, in shock. Did Rainbow just say she has a crush on her?? Did she mean it?? Did Rainbow like her back??
The other girls were surprised at Rainbow's random confession. It was silent, no one knowing what to do or say next.
"Well, that was unexpected." Pinkie said, breaking the silence.
Applejack fidgeted in her seat, looking at the doorway that Rainbow had run out of.
Should she....
"Applejack." Sunset spoke up, ripping Applejack out of her thoughts.
Applejack looked up at Sunset. Sunset was smiling gently at her.
"Go talk to her. And she was telling the truth. She does like you more than a friend. Really like you."
"Just know that Rainbow has never felt these type of feelings for anyone before." Twilight added. "So she's bit scared and confused."
Applejack quickly got up and went after Rainbow Dash.
The other girls looked at each other.
"What now??." Fluttershy asked.
"Let's wait here and see." Sunset said. "They need some privacy to talk."
She found the remote control and turned on the flat screen tv that up until that point, had been ignored that day.
"Girls." Rarity said, smiling. "If all goes well, we did it. Our work here is done. We've done all we can and the truth is now out. So, now we wait and let those two work it out and talk."
The group of friends high fives each other. They turned their attention to the tv screen, where a movie with spies was playing.
Now the only thing on their minds was what Applejack was going to say to Rainbow Dash.
So yeah :) comment below. The story is finally getting to the part you all love. I feel like this scene was a bit rushed into the confession. Let me what you think
