Unusual animal

Enjoy :)

The audience clapped as the little spider monkey was carried away off the stage.

The talk show host chuckled.

"That definitely was something else. Huh, AJ??."

Applejack laughed, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear. "Ah liked that monkey. It was cute."

"Yeah." The show host said, "and nearly ripped my face off."

They all laughed, including the audience. Applejack was having the time of her life on the show. She was glad for a chance to take a break from recording and performing. It was definitely interesting to be on a talk show with animals.

She was glad her manager had told her about the request to come on here this morning. She had nothing better to do to spend her time. The host was named Charm. He was funny beyond belief and had Applejack laughing most of the time there.

The man was in his thirties but was acting like a big baby around the animal and had refused to go near any of them, cracking jokes about the animals wanting to kill him and that Applejack was his sacrifice.

Applejack took the liberty to interact with the animals as best she could. She had held a black bear cub and a chicken, fed a toucan, and touched a lion cub.

She looked at the animal specialist, Paw.

"What's next??." She asked.

Paw laughed lightly, crossing his toned arms.

"Now. This animal....."

He made a face, uncrossing his arms.

"Well, it's not completely an animal. It's something that has never been seen much and once you see her, you won't believe she's real. You'll think I'm making this up, but it's real."

Applejack was intrigued, wanting to meet whoever or whatever Paw had in store for her.

"What do you mean??."

"She's a human-animal hybrid."

Human-animal hybrid?? What are those??

"Can you tell us what that is??." Charm asked.

Paw nodded. "Of course. It's a mix between a human and an animal. She'll look mostly human but with a tail and ears of whatever animal she's mixed with."

Charm nodded in understanding.

"Now." Paw said, a serious tone in his voice.

"She looks like a human, but."

He looked at the audience.

"She does have the instincts of an animal. She'll probably get aggressive if she feels like she's in danger or she'll try to hide so we can't make any sudden movements or loud sounds or she'll get scared. We never know which one she'll do. Most of the time, she he's aggressive because that's her human personality showing. Another thing about her is that she can do everything a normal person can do. She uses the bathroom like us, eats with a fork and spoon like us. She can talk if she wants to, but we tend to keep her quiet."

He chuckled and looked at Applejack. "Once she starts to talk, it's hard to get her to stop. So let's hope she doesn't start."

Paw stood up from his chair.

"Her name is Rainbow. She's very curious about everything. The thing about human-animal hybrids is that they have the mental age of a much younger human age. In people years, she'd be 16, so that means she has the mental age of about a 6 year old child most of the time. She has her mature moments where she acts her human age. She's a cutie."

"Wow." Applejack said, sincerely fascinated, shifting in her seat. "Is there anythin' else we should know?? Does like ta climb?? To nibble?? What??."

"Um." Paw thought for a moment. "Yes, she does like to climb. So she might try to climb up on the desk or something." He said, looking at the host.

Charm stood up and backed up, eyes wide.

"Then it's all hers." He said quickly .

The audience laughed.

"Don't worry." Paw said. "But don't be surprised if she tries to climb up on ya. She likes being held and carried for some odd reason."

He reached into his pocket and took out a little remote control that had a single button on it.

"If she does, I just gotta press this button and she backs off. But remember, we need to stay quiet and calm for not only our safety, but hers as well. She's mixed with a wolf so she'll probably growl or do something that resembles a wolf."

He clapped his hands. "Enough talking and let's bring Rainbow out here."

Applejack, Paw, and Charm turned and looked at the entrance way to backstage. A large, buff man slowly came out, holding a leash.

"She's a bit shy at first." Paw commented.

The man walked out, pushing a cage large on wheels. He pushed the cage over to the three. He stopped and released the cage. The man walked away. Applejack got closer to get a good look.

Applejack felt her heart melt

Rainbow was a girl with cyan blue skin and crazy rainbow colored hair. She looked so small as she was curled up in the cage.

"She's adorable." The talk host fawned over the hybrid.

Paw nodded. "She's a real cute one. Rainbow."

Rainbow heard her name and looked at Paw, her ears standing up. Applejack thought it was so cute. But she couldn't help but notice Rainbow looked scared.

"If you're a good girl, can we let cha out for a bit??."

Rainbow nodded. "Yes, sir." She said quietly.

Paw smiled. He unlocked the cage. Rainbow was hesitant before she slowly climbed out of the cage on all fours. She looked around the studio, smelling the air and looking at everything.

Applejack took the opportunity to get a good look at Rainbow. She could see the ears of a wolf sitting on Rainbow's head. They blended in with her long hair. Heard ears were small and a little droopy, like a pup's. Applejack then noticed her tail. It was exactly like a wolf's tail but multicolored like her hair.

"Does she sleep in that cage??." She asked.

Paw nodded. "Yup." He said as if it wasn't cruel or uncommon to do so.

He looked at the hybrid girl.

"Cmon, girl." Paw whistled at her.

"She ain't a dog, Applejack thought.

Rainbow immediately walked up to Paw. Rainbow immediately reached up to him like a child wanting to be picked up. He gave her look.

"No, Rainbow." He said.

Rainbow put her arms down, a look of disappointment on her face. Applejack felt her heart ache now. She would love to pick her up. She probably could of given the chance.

"Rainbow." Paw said. "Look."

Rainbow looked at him. He was pointing at something. Rainbow followed his finger and saw the audience. She immediately got down on all fours and hid behind Paw's legs, getting awws from the audience.

Paw chuckled, looking at Rainbow. He stepped out of the way, but she followed. He did that a few times but Rainbow still tried to hide behind him. Applejack looked at his face and could see he was getting annoyed by it.

"Rainbow. Stop it and stand up or else." He threatened.

Applejack's eyes switched from Paw to Rainbow repeatedly. She didn't like the way Paw and his team was treating Rainbow. From the cage to his tone of voice to the little device that was in his hand, which was probably a shock collar remote.

He looked at Applejack.

"We're trying to train her. She's a pup so we're trying to cram it into her head not to do some things like climb on people."

Seems more like you're trying to teach her not to be near people at all.

They looked back at Rainbow who was standing beside Paw. Rainbow suddenly sniffed the air. She turned and looked at Applejack. She looked at Paw and pointed at the blonde.

"Can I say hi??."

The man nodded. "Sure. But don't touch."

Rainbow was already walking up to Applejack. She wasn't shy at all towards Applejack.

"I think she wants to investigate you." Paw said. "Either that or figure out whether or not she could eat you."

Applejack froze at the statement. Rainbow turned and glared at the man.

"I won't eat her." She said.

Applejack was surprised to hear her with an attitude. The man glared back at her.

"I forgot to mention." Paw added. "She can understand us. She does almost everything a normal human does. She understands us and can respond, so be careful what you say about her or to her. She'll give an attitude or snarky remark if she wants to, but I can handle her."

Rainbow looked back at Applejack. She stood up on her feet and walked up to her cautiously. She eyed AJ, taking her all in. She even sniffed her. Applejack tried not to seem nervous by her.

Rainbow was shorter than her and thinner. The sweater she wore went to her knees, the sleeves engulfing her entire arms. Applejack thought she looked like a little kid.

Rainbow circled her, touching her arms and clothes and hair, examining her. Finally, she stood in front of her, looking at her curiously.

"Hi."

Applejack smiled. "Hey. My name's Applejack."

Rainbow smiled. "I'm Rainbow Dash. You're really pretty."

Applejack blushed. "Thank you. That's very kind of ya ta say."

Rainbow held out her arms.

"Up??."

Applejack had a younger sister at home and knew what up meant. She was about to pick her up when Rainbow's collar lit up and Rainbow yelped and jumped

Applejack looked at her concerned as Paw came up to Rainbow and yanked her away from Applejack.

He gave her a stone hard look.

"No, Rainbow. No up."

Rainbow panted lightly, obviously in pain.

"What did you just do to her??." The host said, concern in his voice. "Was that a shock??."

Paw held up the small remote control.

"Gets her to behave. Nothing else will."

"Well." Applejack said, trying to not sound rude. "What about showing her a little kindness and gain her trust??."

Paw snorted. "It doesn't work like that. Rainbow is different and so she needs to be handled differently."

"Isn't that considered animal abuse??." Applejack chuckled, even none of it was funny to her.

Paw shrugged. "Maybe, but it's just how we control her. So there's nothing wrong with it."

Applejack and the show host looked at each other, both not liking how Rainbow was being treated.

Charm cleared his throat, pulling on a smile. They had to remember they were still live.

"Well. She is definitely something unique. Well that's all the time we have for today."

He looked at Paw.

"Thank you so much for coming on here. I hope to see Rainbow on here again sometime."

Paw smiled. "I'm sure she would love to come back. And thank you for having me here."

Charm signed off. The three waved at the camera.

"And we're off." One of the camera crew members announced.

A stage crew member came to collect their microphones and gave them a bottle of water each.

Charm looked at Paw. He walked up to him, crossing his arms. Applejack walked up to the men. She wanted to check up on Rainbow Dash.

"I don't think that's right." Charm commented. "You can't use a shock collar on an animal or a human being. So you shouldn't be using it on a mix of the two. Get away from her."

Applejack looked at Rainbow who was standing beside Paw, watching the whole thing with fear in her eyes. Applejack walked up to Rainbow. The wolf hybrid girl saw her and she backed away.

Applejack smiled. "Hey, Rainbow. It's okay. Ah won't hurt cha."

Rainbow eyed her. She seemed to be afraid to even be near the celebrity for some reason. Applejack reached a hand out, holding it a few inches from Rainbow. Rainbow leaned in and sniff it. She really did remind Applejack of a dog.

Rainbow looked up at Applejack.

"Hi." She said quietly.

Applejack smiled. "C'mere. I wanna talk to you."

Rainbow looked at Paw.

"Rainbow." Applejack said, getting Rainbow's attention. "You don't have ta get his permission. Can you come here? I wanna ask you somethin."

Rainbow hesitated. She slowly walked up to Applejack. Applejack held out her hand. Rainbow stared at it for a few seconds. Then she slowly reached her own hand up and took Applejack's hand in her own.

Applejack led Rainbow away from the men.

She looked over at Paw. He looked suspiciously at her, but was trying to hide it. She looked at Rainbow Dash.

"Hey, Rainbow." She said as polite as possible. "Can ah ask you somethin?? And I want you ta be completely honest with me, alright??"

Rainbow nodded. "Yes, ma'am."

Applejack thought about how to word her question. How would you ask a child a question like this??

"Do these people treat cha good?."

She kept her voice to barely a whisper so the others couldn't hear her on the small microphone that was on her shirt.

Rainbow tilted her head to the left.

"What do you mean??." She asked

"Do they hurt cha??." Applejack simplified. "Are the people that take care o' ya nice to you??."

Rainbow shook her head.

"No. They're scary and mean to me."

Applejack frowned deeply.

"How??. What do they do to you??."

Rainbow looked back at Paw then at Applejack. Her ears lowered.

"Well, um......." She began, wringing her hands. "He uh...... hits me sometimes to get me to do something I don't want to do, like um, be on tv shows like this where there's a lot of people and uh, do performances in front of crowds. He pretends to be nice, but if I disobey him, he shocks me. Then he'll lock me in my cage all night as punishment and I don't get any food or water either the next day. He doesn't let me play or walk around the house. He keeps me in my room all day by myself. He's evil."

Applejack felt bad for her. The poor girl was being abused and neglected at the same time. That was not gonna cut it with Applejack. Rainbow was not leaving with this guy. End of story.

She looked at Charm, who was standing beside Paw, watching them.

"Hey" She called him.

The man looked at her. She motioned for him to come over. Charm walked up to the two girls.

Applejack put her finger to her lips, telling him to be quiet.

"This guy is bad news." She whispered. "Rainbow said that that guy abuses her. Keeps 'er locked up all day, shocks her n' hits her."

The talk show host looked at Rainbow in sympathy and shock. Rainbow looked at the floor.

The man lowered himself to her height.

"Is that true?" He whispered.

Rainbow nodded. "Yeah."

Charm smiled. "How would you like to come with someone that'll keep you safe??. We won't let you go home with that man of he's hurting you."

A flash of hope sparked in Rainbow's eyes.

"I don't have to go home?"

Charm shook his head.

"No. Do you want us to tell someone that can help you??."

Rainbow but her lip, scratching her arm.
She looked at Applejack.

"You promise he'll go away??."

Applejack nodded. "He won't hurt cha anymore."

Rainbow nodded. "Okay. Just please make him stop hurting me."

Applejack placed a hand on the smaller girl's shoulder.

"Ah will, Rainbow. You're safe with me."

Rainbow went to hug her, but she screamed in pain and doubled over. Applejack looked up to see Paw walking up to them.

"Did you just shock her??." She asked.

Paw looked at Rainbow, who had cowered in fear.

"Rainbow. Behave, please."

Paw looked up at Applejack.

"Sorry if she's bothering you. She seems to like you."

The man chuckled as he pulled Rainbow away from Applejack. Rainbow whined, her ears falling.

Applejack looked at Rainbow, concern in her green eyes. She looked at Paw, straightening up her posture.

"Ah wanna buy Rainbow, if you'd be interested." She stated.

The animal expert hadn't expected that. He raised his eyebrows, his eyes widened a little.

"You do??."

Applejack nodded. "Yes. Are you interested??."

Paw gave a nod. "What's your price??."

Applejack looked at Rainbow. She'd pay him all the money she had for a chance to save Rainbow, but she couldn't do that. She was smarter than that.

She looked back at Paw.

"Five thousand."

Paw looked at her skeptically. "And you'll pay me when??."

"Right now." Applejack replied. "I'll have mah assistant write chu a check."

Paw smirked. "She's all yours."

He all but shoved Rainbow towards Applejack. Applejack gently took her by the arm and pulled her to her side.

"She's your problem, now." Paw said, before he walked away.

Applejack turned to Rainbow, smiling. Rainbow smiled back.

"You saved me." She said. "Thank you so much, Applejack."

Applejack shrugged. "It was the right thing ta do. Ah couldn't just let cha stay with him."

She placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Now, let me get that shock collar off of ya."

Applejack unbuckled the collar, taking it off of Rainbow Dash. She turned it off, giving it to her assistant, who she knew would keep it in a safe place. She explained the situation to them.

"Go find an officer and tell them ta file an animal abuse report on him n' use this as evidence."

Her assistant nodded and hurried away.

Applejack looked at Rainbow. She opened her arms.

"C'mere, you."

Rainbow smiled. She ran into Applejack's arms, hugging her from around her waist. The two hugged for a while. Applejack laughed. Rainbow didn't want to let go, but did.

Applejack sighed. "Let's go sit down."

The two walked over to the sofa on the set. They sat down. Rainbow sat on Applejack's lap, going back to snuggling. She was too cute.

"That is so cute."

Applejack looked up to see Charm standing on the side of the couch. She smiled and looked at Rainbow.

Applejack giggled. Rainbow gripped her vest and laid her head on her shoulder.

"You're warm, Applejack."

Applejack chuckled. "Is that a good thing??."

Rainbow nodded. "Yeah. I like warm."

Applejack couldn't keep her eyes off the the hybrid in her arms.

Rainbow would look around the large room, then behind the chair, behind Applejack. Something would catch her eye and then she'd switch to going back into hiding her face Applejack's shirt. Applejack thought it was the cutest thing in the world.

"I think she likes you, AJ." Charm said, grinning.

"She's pretty." Rainbow said suddenly.

"Thank you." Applejack smiled. "You are too."

Applejack looked at Charm.

"Thanks for having me here." She said. "Ah gotta go."

"It was great having you here." Charm said. "Come back anytime. And bring Rainbow."

Rainbow raised her head, looking at Applejack.

"You're leaving??."

She thought AJ was leaving her. Applejack laughed, shaking her head.

"No, Rainbow. You're comin' with me. Ah won't leave ya. C'mon."

Rainbow climbed off her lap, standing up and Applejack stood up as well.

"You ready ta go??." AJ asked.

Rainbow's face lit up. She nodded quickly. She hesitated before holding out her arms.

"Up??."

Applejack couldn't say no. She nodded. She lifted the small hybrid girl up and held her on her hip. She smiled.

"Let's go."

Rainbow nodded excitedly. "Yeah."

Rainbow kissed her cheek, making the singer blush deep red. Applejack walked off with Rainbow Dash, prepared to give Rainbow a fresh start at life.

So yeah. Comment what you think :)
