It was a hot summer day in Canterlot city. The girls were trying to beat the heat at Twilight's house. They were a laying around, sulking. None spoke because it was too hot to even try.

And worse. They. Were. Bored.

Applejack sighed. "Ah could really use a nice cool bath", she said. "But ah already took one an hour ago".

Pinkie sighed. "Me too. I'm bored".

Suddenly she perked up, a large smile on her face. She had an idea.

"Let's go swimming", she said.

The girls looked at eachother. They perked up at the idea. It was really hot and they could get out of the house for a change.

"Great idea", Twilight said. "Where should we go??".

"Mermaid Cove", Pinkie said immediately.

"Mermaid Cove??", Applejack asked, raising an eyebrow. "Where's that??".

"It's about a twenty minute drive", Twilight replied, not looking up from her Spell book. "Not far. Only we go there though. Not sure why. Although it's connected to the sea so anything could get in".

Twilight sat up, looking at the blonde teen. She put down her spell book.

"It's really huge. Like a lake. But it's partially surrounded by rocks and dry land".

"Why is it called Mermaid Cove??", Applejack asked.

It seemed like something you'd hear in a fictional story.

( AN: XD HMMMM IT DOES. GET IT??)
"Because", Twilight said. "Legend says that mermaids go there. Some people have reported spotted a mermaid".

"Sounds interestin", Applejack said. "Alright. Let's go".

The girls got up and went to get ready.

"We're here!!".

The teens looked around the area. It was empty. They guessed not many people come here.

The group set their stuff down.

"Did you guys put sunscreen??", Twilight asked.

"Yup", they all chorused.

"C'mon!!", Pinki said. She immediately ran towards the water. The curly haired teen walked in, the level of the sand slowly sloping further and further. Kind of like how sand at a beach slowly descends the further you go into the water but yet you can still touching the bottom until a certain point. It was like that.

Applejack and Fluttershy joined her. Twilight sat at the edge, reading a book while Rarity found a spot to sun bathe.

Applejack and Fluttershy were just chilling at the shallow side, sitting in the water.

Applejack noticed Pinkie was staring at something.

"Pinkie", she called.

Pinkie looked at her.

"What are starin' at??", Applejack asked.

"Oh just that girl over there", Pinkie said with a shrug, turning her head back to wherever she was looking at.

"What??".

All the girls looked at her. Applejack looked over at where Pinkie was looking. She saw someone looking at them from behind a giant rock that partially was submerged in the water.
Whoever it was hid when they realized they had been spotted.

Applejack looked at the girls.

"Who was that??".

No one knew.

"Maybe it was a mermaid", Pinkie said. "Maybe she finds us humans fascinating so she's watching us".

Applejack made a doubtful sound. It was possible. But a mermaid??. Here??. Today??.

"Let's just ignore them fir now n' see what happens", Applejack said.

Applejack sat back. The girls went back to doing whatever they were doing.

Applejack sighed and closed her eyes, soaking in the sun's rays. She sat on the rocks, in the shallow end of the cove, her legs dangling off. The cool water made the sun seem a bit less hot. This was amazing.

Suddenly she felt like someone was watching her. Applejack opened her eyes and looked down.

Applejack froze. Magenta colored eyes were staring at her from underneath the water.

But as soon as she blinked, whatever or whoever it was...... was gone. Applejack looked around, sitting up.

"Ah just saw somethin!!", she said in alarm. "Ah think there's someone down there".

The girls looked at her.

"What??", Twilight said. "Where??".

"Let's get in and see", Pinkie said.

The girls grabbed their swimming goggles that they brought along with them. Putting them on, the six girls dove into the crystal clear water. Everything looked so beautiful underwater. They could see the bottom of the cove, where the white sand and seaweed was.

The girls looked at eachother then around the clear water.

Applejack looked around, scanning the environment for anything out of the ordinary.

Suddenly she spotted something in the tall seaweed at the bottom. Or maybe someone.

Applejack had to stop herself from gasping in water. It was a person.

Applejack felt the need for oxygen. The teen tapped Twilight's shoulder, getting her attention. Applejack pointed up. The girls nodded and quickly breached the surface.

Applejack gasped in air.

"Ah see someone", she said. "In the seaweed".

"Really??", Fluttershy asked.

Applejack nodded.

The girls took a deep breath and dove under again. Applejack looked at the field of seaweed. The girls couldn't believe their eyes.

It was a girl.

Applejack realized something. Her eyes. It was the same eyes she had seen a few minutes ago. Magenta eyes.
Applejack and the girl look at eachother for a few seconds as if captivated by eachother.

The girl was close enough so Applejack could see her physical features. She had long straight Rainbow colored hair that floated around freely in the water. Her skin was the color of the morning sky. She was very beautiful indeed. Nothing like Applejack had ever seen.

Applejack then noticed something. Hr eyes went to where the girl's legs would be. But she didn't have legs. Applejack's eyes widened.

The girl had a tail.
