"So".

Rarity looked around at the group of friends with a smile.

"I came up with a brilliant idea for this year".

"What is it Rarity??", Applejack asked. "Ya haven't told us yet".

Rainbow smiled brightly.

"Secret Santa!!", she exclaimed with joy.

Rainbow raised an eyebrow.

"Seriously??. Secret Santa??".

The girls looked at the multicolored haired teen. Rainbow gave her an 'are you serious??' look. Rarity crossed her arms.

"What's wrong with that??. It's fun".

Rainbow snickered, crossing her arms. She shrugged.

"Seems kinda cheesy to me", she said.

"Oh come on Rainbow", Applejack said.

Rainbow looked at her. Applejack smiled at her.

"It'll be fun", Applejack said. "Plus, it'll only be us gals. It'll be excitin' ta get eachother gifts. You never know who or what you'll get. You could get mah name fir all you know".

Rainbow blushed a little, but dipped her head down so noone would notice.

"Well. Okay".

Rainbow smiled. "I'm in. Twilight if I get you, I'm giving you a mug that says wordless biggest egghead".

Twilight rolled her eyes.

"You won't get me".

Rainbow smirked. Rarity squealed.

"Then it's settled. Let's start".

Rarity held out a hat.

"Inside are pieces of folded up paper with our names on it. You choose one. You girls know the rules. You can't tell the person you got that you got their name and we all have one week to find them a gift in time for Christmas. Twilight. You go first".

Twilight took a step forward. She looked away and picked a piece of paper. Twilight went back to her spot. Fluttershy went and them Pinkie.

"Alright. Rainbow Dash. C'mon".

Rainbow stepped foward. She reached into the hat and pulled out a piece of paper. She put it in her jacket pocket, not looking at it. Then Applejack went and got hers. Rarity took the last one.

"Okay", she said. "Now we all turn around and see who we get".

Rainbow turned around. She took her hand out of her pocket, the piece of paper in her hand. She unfolded it and looked at it. Her eyes widened.

Applejack stared down at her paper in shock. She couldn't believe the name got in her paper. Both girls didn't notice the others giving eachother silent high fives, grinning at them.

Rainbow Dash and Applejack looked up from their paper, staring ahead at the wall in front of them, blushing. Just their luck.

'I have her'.

"What am ah gunna get er??".

Rarity rolled her eyes.

"You're best friends", she said.

"You'll figure something out. I'm sure of it".

Applejack sighed. "Ah just want it ta be perfect. Somethin' she'll like. Cuz Celestia knows how hard that gal is ta please".

Applejack chuckled.

"Maybe you should give her a note that says, will you go out with me??", Rarity joked.

Applejack rolled her eyes. "Shut up".

You see, Applejack has had a crush on Rainbow Dash for the longest time. Which was about four years. Rainbow had come out to her friends almost two years ago. That sent Applejack's crush into a storm of falling in love with her. Applejack of course didn't tell her. But she might someday.

Applejack wanted to give Rainbow Dash the perfect gift. But what??. Not clothes. Not jewelry. Not sports stuff.

This was gunna be a hard one.

Rainbow groaned, gripping her hair.

"My braaaiin".

Twilight rolled her eyes.

"Rainbow. Stop it. You're gunna hurt yourself if you keep doing that".

Rainbow sighed, releasing her hair. She looked up at Twilight.

"How hard is it to come up with a gift for someone??. Hint, if it's someone like Applejack, HARD".

Twilight smiled.

"I'm sure she'll like anything you give her", she said.

Rainbow made a forced laugh come out.

"Yeah right. It's Applejack Smith we're talking about. I need a present she'll like".

The placed a handon her hip.

"Maybe your should give her a talking toy that says 'Go out with me. I'm in love with you and I can't stop thinking about you. I'll die if you say no, so don't have a choice'. I'm desperate".

Rainbow shot a glare at her.

"Shut up. I am not desperate".

Twilight giggled. "You've liked her for almost 5 years. Just tell her".

Rainbow sighed. "You and I both know that's not gunna happen anytime soon. She probably doesn't like me back".

Rainbow crossed her arms. "I'd be humiliated and then ruin our friendship. No thanks".

Twilight smiled. "Well. She does need a guitar".

Rainbow's eyes widened. She smiled. "Oh yeah. Hers broke. She's always wanted a new one. Great idea. And I know just the place".

Applejack smiled, Rainbow's present in her arms.

"You sure she'll like it", Pinkie asked.

Applejack nodded, looking at the small boxes in her hands. "Coarse", she said. "Ah know she will. She's always wanted this".

Twilight grinned. "Alright then let's wrap them up".

-skip to Christmas day-

"Yay!!. It's Christmas!!".

Rainbow smiled. "After this can we go outside. I hear the snow calling my name".

The girls laughed.

"Sure sugarcube", Applejack said. "We'll go outside later. Fir now, present time".

The girls were all dressed. Spike was there too. Pinkie had made some pancakes that morning. Now they were ready for the opening of the gifts.

"Rarity", Twilight said. "Since this was your idea, you go first".

Rarity smiled. She took out her gift which was wrapped in purple paper.

"Spike, this is for you".

Spike grinned. The kid took the present. He tore open the wrapping paper. His eyes widened.

"Woah. Cool!!. A new game!!".

It was a videogame. Spike looked at Rarity.

"Thanks so much. You're the best".

Rarity smiled back.

"No problem dear. Now, you give your present".

Spike smiled. He crawled underneath the tree and grabbed his present. Spike held it up to Twilight. Twilight smiled.

"For me??".

Spike nodded. Twilight took the gift. She thanked him and unwrapped the gift. She gasped.

"A telescope!".

Twilight smiled brightly. It was the latest model. She had always wanted one. The purple haired teen pulled the boy in for a hug.

"Thank you. Thank you. Thank you".

"Alright", Applejack said. "Twilight. Give yir gift"

Twilight looked at the girls. She grinned.

"Come back to me. Rainbow. You go".

Rainbow's eyes widened. "Uh okay. Be right back".

Rainbow got up and walked out of the room. Twilight and Rarity grinned at eachother.

Rainbow came back in, holding a guitar.

"Woah", Applejack said smiling.

She whistled.

"Shoot. That there is the best guitar Ah've seen around. Who's it fir??".

Rainbow walked over to her and knelt down. She held out the guitar.

"Merry Christmas".

Applejack's eyes widened in shock.

"Fir me??. You're mah secret santa??".

Applejack took the guitar in her hands. She ran a hand over the neck and the strings. Applejack tested it out. It sounded great".

"Wow", she said.

Applejack looked at Rainbow Dash, smiling.

"Thanks so much, Rainbow. This is the best gift ever. It really is".

Rainbow smiled. "You're welcome. I knew you wanted a new guitar and I just had to get you one".

Applejack grinned. She got up and walked over to an empty guitar stand. She put the guitar in and walked back over to the group. Sitting down on the floor, Applejack grinned.

"Then this is ironic because ah'm your secret santa".

Applejack reached under the tree and picked up two boxes. One was square shaped and the other skinny and rectangular.

"This here present had two parts in it. The actual gift needs the first gift in order fir it ta work".

Applejack handed Rainbow Dash the smaller box. Rainbow top off the top. Her mouth fell open. She reached in and took out a necklace.

"Wicked", she said. "Man Applejack. This is so awesome".

Applejack grinned. Rainbow examined the necklace. She suddenly realized something.

"Hey. I've seen this necklace before. In a movie".

Rainbow looked at it for a moment. She suddenly gasped.

"This is from a Disney movie. Anastacia".

Rainbow looked at the floor, in thought.

"Her grandmother gave her that. It was the key that winded up the........".

Applejack held out the second box. Rainbow slowly reached out and took it into her hands. She tore off the paper. She was looking at a green and gold box. Rainbow looked at Applejack then back at the box. She slid off the top and peered inside. Rainbow's mouthfell open.

"Woah".

The teen took out a music box.

"It wound up the music box".

Rainbow smiled. Applejack nodded.

"Try it", she said. Rainbow held the necklace charm in one hand, the music box in the other. She began to hum a tune as she placed the charm into a slot and wound it up.

In seconds the music box opened, music playing.

"Hear this song and remember", she sang.

"Soon you'll be", The girls chorused. "Home with me. Once opon a December".

Rainbow beamed. She smiled brightly at Applejack.

"This is the best gift ever. Thanks AJ".
Rainbow put down the objects. She took Applejack by the shoulders.

"I'm so happy I could kiss you".

Rainbow leaned foward and kissed Applejack on the lips. Backing up, Rainbow stared at her, smiling still. It was quiet. Rainbow suddenly realized what she had just did. Her smile slowly fell, giggling nervously.

Rainbow released Applejack's shoulders.

"Uhhhh".

Rainbow cleared her throat, a blush on her face. She looked around at the girls.

"Um. Your turn Twilight".

After the presents had been given out, they decided to have some friends over. They had a small party. There were cookies and chips and hot chocolate and other food.

Applejack laughed.

"Ah do remember that".

Derpy looked around.

"Hey. Where's Rainbow Dash going??".

Applejack turned her head. She saw Rainbow Dash sneaking out of the party and out the front door.

"Not sure. Ah'm gunna go find out what's she up to".

Applejack walked through the house. She passed by the others, slipping on a jacket.

"Where ya going??", Pinkie asked.

"Ah saw Rainbow walk out the front door. Ah'm gunna go see what's up".

Applejack turned and headed to the front door. Applejack stepped outside. She saw Rainbow sitting on the porch steps. Applejack stood there for a moment, watching her. Rainbow stared out into the winter afternoon. The snow looked beautiful that day. A partially cloudy blue sky.

Applejack walked over to Rainbow Dash.

"Hey", she said.

Rainbow turned and looked up at her. She smiled.

"Hey".

"Can ah sit with ya??", Applejack asked.

Rainbow nodded. Applejack sat down beside her. The two sat in silence for a bit. Applejack thought she should ask about earlier. After all, Rainbow had kissed her. Did that mean she liked her??.

Only one way to find out. Ask her.

Applejack looked at Rainbow Dash.

"We need ta talk", she said.

Rainbow looked at her. "About what??".

Applejack grinned slightly.

"Abut think you know. Remember, earlier??".

Rainbow looked away. "Oh. Right".

Rainbow didn't look Applejack in the eyes after that.

"Why did you kiss me??".

Rainbow rubbed her bare arm.

"I-I was happy about the gift. Thank you by the way".

Applejack smiled. "You're welcome".

Rainbow looked at her knees.

"I guess I was just happy about the gift. I don't know what came over me. I'm sorry".

Applejack chuckled. "It didn't bother me at all".

Rainbow looked at her.

"It didn't".

Applejack shook her head.

Rainbow looked at her confused.

"But..... I kissed you. I mean, I know you like girls and all, but if your best friend kisses you out of nowhere, I'm pretty sure you should be a little weirded out. Especially if they're the same gender. Like I said, I know you like girls and all. That's fine. I like girls too. But I'm your best friend and I kissed you. You're not the least bit weirded out??. You don't like me like that as far as I know so it's logical that it should bother you-".

Applejack rolled her eyes. She grabbed Rainbow by her shoulders and pulled her in. Theirs lips touched, making Rainbow's eyes widened. Applejack pulled away and smiled. Rainbow was frozen in shock.

"Ah do like you. The kiss didn't bother me one bit. You ramble alot don't cha??".

Rainbow stared at her for a moment, her brain processing what had just happened.

"Um...........".

Applejack chuckled. "Ah like you Rainbow. Like....... ah like you as in a big crush and or in love kinda way".

"You do??".

Applejack nodded. Rainbow smiled a little.

"I like you too....... if you haven't already put two and two together".

Applejack smiled. "Ah figured as much".

Rainbow looked at her hands.

"So uh...... what now??".

Applejack chuckled.

"Ah believe this would be a great time ta ask you out".

Rainbow smiled. "Yeah. It would".

Applejack took Rainbow's hand.

"You know. Ah've had a major crush on ya fir a few years now".

"Same", Rainbow replied.

"Would you like ta go out sometime next weekend??. To the movies ir go out ta eat??".

Rainbow looked at her lap, smiling.

"Okay. I'd love to".

Applejack scooted closer to her. She wrapped an arm around Rainbow's shoulders. Rainbow leaned on Applejack.

"Merry Christmas AJ".

Applejack looked at her. She kissed her cheek.

"Merry Christmas Rainbow".

After a few minutes they decided to head back inside. The girls walked, hand in hand. They suddenly stopped. Everyone was staring at them. Their friends were smiling widely.

"Soooo??", Twilight asked.

Rainbow grinned. "Yeah. We're a thing".

A roar of cheers exploded through the house. Rainbow and Applejack smiled. Their friends walked up to them hugging them.

"We're so happy for you", Twilight said. "So. Who asked who??".

Applejack chuckled. "Ah asked".

Rarity smirked and nudged her gently.

"Why you romeo you".

Applejack blushed. She laughed nervously.

"Yeah. Ah asked her out".

Rainbow placed a hand on her hip.

"Well. If you need me, I'm going to eat. I'm starving".

Applejack chuckled.

"Ah'll come with".

The two girls went into the kitchen. They both got a plate and served themselves.

Rainbow instantly fell in love with the food.

"Man", she said. "This cornbread is awesome".

Applejack smiled. "You got that right".

Rainbow scooped spoonfuls into her mouth. Applejack giggled.

"Slow down there sugarcube. Don't choke".

Rainbow did as told and ate slower. Her plate was empty pretty quickly. She went to get more. Applejack rolled her eyes. Typical Rainbow.

Applejack laughed quietly.

"You sure you gunna finish those??".

Rainbow tiredly nodded. She held a cookie to her mouth and ate it. The teen leaned on Applejack's shoulder.
The teen was devouring the chocolate chip cookies Pinkie had baked earlier. They were so soft.

Applejack watched as Rainbow was basically falling asleep on her.

After another minute or two, Applejack decides that was enough for her. The blonde took the plate of cookies from her.

"That's enough fir now".

Applejack looked up. She saw Pinkie walk by.

"Pinkie", she called.

Pinkie heard her and looked at Applejack. Applejack held out the plate.

"Save these fir Rainbow Dash. She really likes em".

Pinkie beamed. "Okey dokey".

She tool the plate and skipped away. Applejack looked at Rainbow Dash. The teen was almost asleep. Applejack smiled. She pulled Rainbow onto her lap and stood up. She carried Rainbow like a child. Rainbow was awake enough to wrap her arms around Applejack's neck.

Applejack walked through the house towards the stairs.

"Applejack", she heard. The blonde turned around to see her friends walking over to her.

"Where are you going??", Rarity asked.

Applejack turned around to show them a sleeping Rainbow. She turned back around.

"Gunna put her down for a nap".

The girls giggled.

"You said that as if Rainbow's a baby".

Applejack chuckled. "Well. She is hangin' on ta me like one and she's cute when she's asleep like a baby. But ah think she needs a nap. See you girls later. Save some snacks fir us later".

Applejack turned and headed upstairs. She went into the guest room. Applejack walked over to the bed and pulled the blanket down. She laid Rainbow Dash down. Rainbow's eyes cracked open.

"Stay", she mumbled out.

Applejack smiled. She couldn't say no to Rainbow. She was a bit tired herself.

"Alright".

Applejack took off her shoes and did the same with Rainbow's sneakers. Applejack laid down beside Rainbow Dash, pulling the blanket up. She wrapped an arm around her waist. Rainbow snuggled into Applejack's embrace.

"Hey Applejack??", Rainbow grumbled out.

"Yeah??".

"I'm glad you were my secret santa. Hohoho".

Applejack giggled quietly.

"Me too".

Applejack smiled. Maybe they should do this every year. Hopefully she could get her girlfriend for next year as well.
