Rainbow walked into the school, hoping to the gods no one would notice the black eye. She walked through the school, doing her absolute best not to make eye contact with anyone or even look from the ground. She glanced up occasionally so she wouldn't bump into anyone as she slunk down the hall, walking as if every person she passed was out to get her and she was their prey.

Rainbow made it to her locker. Unlocking it, she began to take out her history and English notebook. She was grateful she hadn't had any homework.

"Rainbow!."

Rainbow jumped, partially slamming her hands onto the locker next to her. She looked over her right shoulder to see Pinkie Pie bouncing towards her, a huge grin on her face. The girl has her books in hand, wearing glasses that Rainbow hadn't seen the day before.

"Hey, buddyyyy." Pinkie said, smiling.

Rainbow smiled shyly. "Oh uh, Hey, Pinkie Pie."

"Are you allergic to cake??." Pinkie asked.

Rainbow raised an eyebrow at the odd question. "Um... no."

Pinkie put her books down and took of her bright blue book bag and placed it on the floor carefully, kneeling down. Unzipping it, Pinkie took out a paper plate with another paper plate on top. Pinkie stood up and held it out with both hands.

"I baked a cake the other cake and I thought you'd like some."

Rainbow was surprised. No one had ever given her something. Or even thought about her. She smiled.

"Really? For me?."

Pinkie nodded. "Of course, silly. Your the only Rainbow Dash I know."

Rainbow took the cake. She peeked inside. Chocolate. Her favorite.

"Thanks." She said. "This means a lot."

Pinkie shrugged. "No problem."

She suddenly frowned. "What happened to your eye??."

Rainbow frowned. Uh oh.

"Oh uh this. It's nothing. Don't worry about it. It didn't happen here, so don't tell any teachers. I'm fine now."

"Are you sure-."

"Rainbow. Pinkie."

Rainbow and Pinkie turned their heads to see Applejack and her friends walking towards them. Rainbow gulped, still shocked that Applejack knew her name and wanted to be her friend.

"Oh my gosh."

"Play it cool, Rainbow." Pinkie whispered, nudging her. "Just act like you normally do and you'll be fine."

Rainbow looked at her. Pinkie smiled brightly at her, obviously not knowing how panicked Rainbow felt right then and there. Rainbow nodded, trying to breathe.

"Hey."

Rainbow nearly jumped out of her skin. She turned her head to see Applejack looking at her. Applejack frowned, her face turning to concern.

"What happened to yir eye, Rainbow??." She asked.

Rainbow felt her anxiety rise.

"I don't wanna talk about it." She said, looking away. "It's nothing."

"Are you sure??."

Rainbow looked up at who the voice came from. Twilight Sparkle. The smartest girl in school. She was a nerd like Rainbow and Pinkie, but she was a cool nerd that other people in school actually liked.

Rainbow nodded. "Mhm. Yeah."

"Alright then."

"Rainbow." Applejack then said remembering why she said brought her friends over to the two. "Ah almost forgot. These are mah best friends. Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Fluttershy, and Sunset Shimmer."

Rainbow smiled shyly and gave a small wave.

"Hi."

She memorized each name to the correct face. She knew who these girls were already, but just to be sure.

"And this." Applejack said. "Is Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie. Our new friends."

The bell rang for homeroom.

"We better get ta homeroom." Applejack said.

Rainbow shut her locker and locked it, making sure she had her stuff and then me they walked off.

Rainbow walked beside Applejack. She couldn't help but feel eyes on her. She kept walking, shoulders scrunched up, eyes down at the floor.

"Rainbow??. Are you alright??."
Rainbow looked at Applejack.

Applejack seemed concerned. Not sure why. Rainbow nodded.

"Y-Yeah." She lied. "I'm fine."

She looked away. Applejack didn't believe it for a second. That black eye came from somewhere, and she needed to know who hurt Rainbow.

They went on with their day. Rainbow had all her classes with Pinkie Pie and Applejack and some with one of the other girls. Sunset for Psychology, Rarity For English, Fluttershy for History, and all the girls for Math class. The rest of her classes she had with Pinkie and Applejack only.

He say went by painfully slow.

Rainbow was thankful when the bell rang to for dismissal.

She, Pinkie, and the other girls walked out of the room and down to

"You need a ride home?" Applejack suddenly asked Rainbow.

Rainbow stopped in front of her locker. She balance all her stuff in her one arm as she tried to unlock her locker.

"Let me help ya with that." Applejack offered.

Rainbow looked at her.

"Oh um, o-okay."

She took the pile of stuff from Rainbow's arms. Rainbow adjusted her bag and unlocked her locker. Applejack held her stuff as she put it away.

Once she finished, Rainbow Dash closed her locker. She smiled.

"Thanks, Applejack."

"Don't mention it." Applejack said, grinning.

Rainbow took out her phone and looked at the time. Her eyes widened.

"Oh my god. I'm gonna be late getting home." She said, panic in her voice. "My dad is gonna kill me."

"I'm sure he'll understand." Rarity said. "It is high school."

Rainbow shook her head.

"No, I mean he's gonna kill me if I'm late. I'll see you guys tomorrow. Bye!."

Rainbow turned and hurried down the hall without another word. She hurried out of the school, weaving and dodging other students and teachers. Rainbow exited the school and headed down the the street, catching her breath.

Rainbow hurried down the sidewalk, walking quickly to get home. She didn't notice Applejack following her at a distance.

Applejack wanted to see Rainbow get home safe. Maybe her black eye came from girls from school jumping her on the way home.

She walked down the street, keeping an eye on Rainbow Dash. She followed the girl all the way to her house. A man was at the front door, probably waiting for Rainbow. Applejack quickly hid behind a tree near the house. She peeked out, watching Rainbow Dash walk up to her house.

Applejack watched the two talk. The man then began to yell. He walked up to the Rainbow and punched her. Applejack gasped, covering her mouth. Her eyes widened. The man grabbed Rainbow and pulled her inside. He pushed her into the house, closing the door behind her.

Applejack stayed in hiding for a moment. Then she came out from behind the tree. Did he....... was he....... was Rainbow getting......

Applejack shook her head. She hurried acros the almost quiet street. She snuck onto Rainbow's lawn and went up to the front window, crouching down. Applejack peeked into the house. She gasped. She saw Rainbow on the floor, the man, who Applejack guessed was her dad, standing over her, kicking her and yelling. Rainbow cowered, curled up in a ball.

Applejack was horrified. So this is why Rainbow was so afraid all the time. That's where she got that black eye from. Her dad beats her.

Applejack got out her phone. She had to call the police. Rainbow was serious trouble. Applejack could stay by and do nothing.

Applejack crouched down. She dialed 911 and let it ring.

"Hello, 911. What's your emergency??"

"Mah friend is bein' abused by her dad." Applejack said quietly. "He's beating her up right now inside their house. Ah saw it and ah knew ah had ta call."

"Okay. What's your name??."

"Applejack Smith."

"Alright Applejack. Do you know the address of the house?"

Applejack knew the street but not the house number. She looked around for a number. She looked next to the front door. 425. Bingo.

"Um. 425 Coral Avenue."

"Alright. Help is on the way, Applejack. Just stay in the line with me and stay hidden. Police will arrive soon."

"Alright." Applejack said. "Tell them ta hurry."

"Will do."

Applejack didn't have to wait long. Soon she saw two cop cars and an ambulance driving down the street. It parked across the street. Police came out of the cars. Applejack flagged them down. The officers and paramedics came up to the house. Applejack got up and hurried over to them.

"They're inside. The yellin' hasn't stopped and he won't stop kickin and punchin' her."

"We got it." A female cop said, smiling. "You did the right thing, Applejack. Good job. We'll take him down."

The police approached the door. A man pounded on the door. The yelling stopped. A minute later the door opened. Rainbow's dad opened the door, panting lightly.

"Yes?." He said, looking at the cops confused. "Can I help you?."

The police barged in. The male cops took hold of the man and held tackled him to the floor.

"HEY! GET OFF OF ME!!." He yelled.

The female cop and Applejack went in after.

"Rainbow Dash!!." Applejack called, hoping to the gods Rainbow was okay.

"Rainbow??."

She suddenly heard coughing. Applejack turned her head to see Rainbow standing in the door way, leaning on it. The female cop hurried towards Rainbow.

"Are you Rainbow Dash??."

Rainbow nodded weakly. She was all bruised and battered. Blood ran from the left side of her mouth. She had an arm around her stomach, wincing in pain. The paramedics sprung into action. A male paramedics hollered for a stretcher to be brought in.

Applejack hurried over to them. Rainbow saw her and gasped.

"Applejack." She said, eyes wide. "You called the police??."

"Ah had to, Rainbow. Ah'm sorry but not sorry. Ah had ta do something."

Rainbow smiled. She shook her head. "No. Thank you so much. I wouldn't ever have the courage to call the police on my dad. You saved my life."

Rainbow took a step towards her, but collapsed. Applejack thought fast and caught Rainbow.

"Woah, nelly. Easy there."

Rainbow looked up at her, holding on to her. Applejack smiled.

"You're welcome. You would've done the same if ah was in that situation. Ah know you would."

Rainbow was rushed to the hospital, Applejack right by her side. She had to call her dad and the girls to let them know where she was. They'd meet up at the hospital.

Applejack agreed. She put her phone away and looked at Rainbow Dash. She looked like in so much pain. Paramedics were asking her a million questions, getting all up in her space. Rainbow looked freaked out and ready to have a panic attack. Applejack felt awful.

She reached out and took Rainbow's hand. Rainbow looked at their hands. She looked up at Applejack, blushing. The two made eye contact.

"You're okay, Rainbow. It's gonna be alright. Ah gotcha."

The paramedics noticed and stopped talking, noticing Rainbow's panicked state. They backed off.

Rainbow stayed calm the rest of the way the hospital.

Applejack stayed with Rainbow through the whole process. Being in the hospital, recovering from the bruises and wounds, moving in with her Uncle, court, her dad being put in jail, urging Rainbow to go to much needed counseling.

Rainbow had trouble sleeping at night. She told Applejack of her nightmares. She was diagnosed with anxiety and chronic depression. She was out on medication for both.

It helped. But it mostly helped to have her friends. The girls had become a group. People stopped picking on Rainbow Dash and Pinkie since they hung out with popular kids. The girls stood up for Rainbow and Pinkie in case anyone tried anything like tripping or embarrassing them in school.

They were happy to graduate the year after. They all went to the same college, funny enough. It was close by so they didn't have to leave home. They all worked and drove cars. Pinkie became the most famous party planner and baker in town.

Rainbow got a job as a kids soccer coach over the summer. She loved it. Applejack noticed a big difference in her. A good one. It made her more of a beautiful person.

Another that had changed was Applejack's feelings for Rainbow Dash. She had realized that she had a major crush on the young athlete. The girls teased her about it, but said nothing when Rainbow Dash was around.

The girls alway urged her to make a move. Applejack and Rainbow had even went to prom together for Pete sake.

But nope. Applejack was too chicken. Plus, she'd say, Rainbow has been through a lot. She didn't need a relationship to add on to the baggage.

Rainbow was doing just fine.

Little did she know their world would be turned upside one fateful rainy night.

Rainbow was in her bed, watching tv. Her dog, Tank was asleep on the carpet. Rainbow's uncle was working late, so Rainbow was home alone.

Rainbow had her phone in her hand, texting Applejack about whatever to keep her mind busy. She didn't like being alone. Her mind played tricks on her at night when she was alone.

So her heart nearly stopped when she heard a sound coming from downstairs. She froze.

Rainbow grabbed the remote and muted the tv. She heard the sound of the front door opening downstairs.

Rainbow quickly got up. She wet to investigate. Walking to her door, she opened it and peeked out.

"Strike??." She called.

It was silent. Rainbow closed the door and went back to her bed. She crawled in and grabbed her phone.

RD: Yo. I coulda swore I heard something downstairs. I'm trippin lol XD

AJ: Make sure the front door is locked

Rainbow suddenly heard the stairs creaking. It made her pause. Her heart began to beat in her chest. She quickly pressed call for Applejack and put it to her ear. Rainbow jumped out of bed and rushed to the light and turned them off. She scrambled under her bed, as the phone rang.

"Rainbow??. What's wrong??"

"Applejack." Rainbow whispered. "There's someone in the house. I mean. There's someone walking up the stairs. I-I'm scared."

"Woah. Calm down, Rainbow. Stay calms. Are you sure??."

The jiggle of the doorknob made Rainbow quietly gasp.

"Shh."

Rainbow was silent as the door creaked open. Rainbow saw someone walk in.

"Rainbow." A voice she'd never forget broke the silence.

Rainbow's stomach dropped. Her blood ran cold.

It was....... Her dad.
