So this is a Mother's Day themed one shot.

Today was the big day. Mother's Day.

"This is gonna be so awesome".

Rainbow was beaming with excitement, her face stuck with a huge toothy smile.

Applejack chuckled watching her girlfriend. Rainbow was getting ready for her competition. You see, Rainbow Dash and her mom, Eden Dash, we're famous ice skaters. They've won many competitions and did many celebrity guest show ups in performances.

Today was Mother's Day. The day Rainbow could show her appreciation and love for her mom. Eden was her number one role model and her best friend and Rainbow was Mommy's little girl. Of coarse she wouldn't dare say it out loud. But it was true. She loved her mom more than anyone in the whole world.

Rainbow adjusted her outfit, looking at herself in the body mirror. She had her hair pinned back, a little bit off makeup on. Her mom didn't put much. She always told Rainbow Dash that she was beautiful with and without it and that she had natural beauty. Plus Rainbow wasn't a big fan of makeup at all, so she didn't put much on. Just chapstick and a smidge of eyeshadow.

Rainbow saw Applejack walk up to her and smiled. Applejack wrapped her arms around her waist, resting her head on Rainbow's right shoulder.

"You'll do great", Applejack said, smiling.

"Thanks", Rainbow said. "I'm so excited I could squeeze something to death".

Applejack laughed.

"How about you not kill anythin', alright??".

Rainbow giggled. "Alright".

"Rainbow??". The girls turned around. There in the doorway was Eden Dash. The woman looked just like Rainbow Dash. But instead of cyan colord skin like her daughter, Eden had skin as white as snow. Her long rainbow colored hair was paler than Rainbow's bold and bright colors. They both shared the same magenta hued eyes and bright smile.

Rainbow smiled.

"Hey Mom", she said.

She walked up to her mom, motioning to her outfit.

"Like it??".

Eden placed her hands on her hips.

"I like the person in the outfit a lot more, to be honest", she laughed.

Rainbow giggled.

"Thanks Mom".

Eden walked up to her daughter, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"You look beautiful. Like always".

"Well I do have a super model gorgeous mom", Rainbow said. "So yeah. I'm pretty".

Applejack came up beside her.

"Ah can second that", she said.

Eden smiled at Applejack.

"Keeping an eye on Rainbow??", she asked

Applejack laughed. "Yup. Who else can you trust ta make sure Rainbow doesn't get lost somewhere, gett'n distracted by somethin??".

"Good point", Eden said. "Now. It's almost time. C'mon".

Rainbow grabbed her skates and they walked out.

The three made their way down to the main area. Tonight was a performance. People from all over Canterlot were coming to see them.

Rainbow had been super excited for this day all for months.

"Now remember", Eden said. "Just have fun. It'll be just us two. Your father won't be here to ruin the fun. Focus on me and we'll be okay".

Eden smirked. "And if one of us messes up, the audience won't know. Just keep going. Only we and Twirl (their choreographer) know the routine so we'll just go along with it".

Rainbow nodded. "Got it. Let's do this".

The performances were amazing. Rainbow and Eden had alot of fun skating together. Rainbow noticed the paparazzi there as well. Then again her mom was famous.

Then it all happened so quickly.

Rainbow glided around her mom, smiling. Her and Eden had just finished another song. Rainbow looked out at the crowd. She saw Applejack, their friends and her Uncle sitting in the audience. Suddenly someone caught her eye. A man stood up, pointing something at her. A gun.

Rainbow froze. Oh no. She swore she saw her life flash before her eyes.

Suddenly Rainbow felt arms wrap around her. A body pushed her onto the ice, getting on top of her. A gunshot sounded, echoing throughout the large room. Screams from the crowd were heard. Rainbow felt the body weigh on her. She twisted around. She gasped.

Eden was on top of her, shielding her.
Eden rolled off of her. Rainbow sat up. She looked back at the man, to see him being held down and then led away by security. Rainbow turned her head. She gasped.

Eden had been shot. Blood stained her clothes, a large, dark red stain was where she had been shot. Eden clutched her side wound, gasping.

"Mom!!".

Rainbow was by her side.

"Oh my gosh".

Rainbow looked around. She then looked at her mom.

We have to get you backstage", she said.

Eden looked at her. Rainbow helped her sit up. Eden was in obviously horrible pain. Rainbow had her lean on her, her right arm around Eden's waist. The teen basically carried her mom across the rink towards the door, leading to backstage.

Once they got there, paramedics were there. They took Eden and laid her on the stretcher, rushing away. Rainbow stood there, watching in shock.

"Rainbow!!".

Applejack, Rainbow's uncle and their friends ran towards Rainbow. Applejack pulled her in for a hug.

"Are you okay??".

Rainbow didn't respond. Applejack pulled away, looking at her girlfriend. Rainbow had a distant look in her eyes.

"She got shot", Rainbow whispered out loud.

Rainbow was in shock. The girls looked at eachother. Applejack wrapped her arm around her waist.

Suddenly, Rainbow's eyes rolled to the back of her eyes. Her body became limp as she collapsed.

"Rainbow!!".

Everything was blurry. Rainbow moved her head, slowly coming to consciousness. Where was she??. Rainbow Dash blinked, her vision becoming clearer. She immediately saw Applejack sitting there.

Rainbow turned her head slowly. She saw Applejack, Uncle Strike, Twilight and Pinkie Pie, sitting in chairs around the room.

Suddenly Strike looked at her. He gasped, standing up.

"She's awake".

Applejack and the others looked at Rainbow Dash. They rushed to her side. Applejack was by her side, looking at her with worry.

"Rainbow. How do you feel??".

Rainbow looked at her, rubbing her eyes.

"What happened??".

"Don't you remember??", Strike asked. "You fainted".

Rainbow looked at him in confusion.

"I did??. When??. Where am I??".

Rainbow suddenly noticed the heart monitor. She looked around the room.

"What the.........".

She was in a hospital room.

"Why am I in the hospital??".

"Ya mean, you don't remember??".

Rainbow shook her head. She looked around, her eyes widening.

"H-Hold on a minute", she said. "What happened??".

It got silent. The others looked at eachother, uncertainty on their faces. Applejack bit her lip, looking at Rainbow Dash.

"Rainbow", Applejack paused.

"Yeah??", Rainbow asked, fear etched in her voice.

"Yir mom was shot during yur performance a fee hours ago. Ya fainted after she was rushed to the hospital".

Rainbow's grew wide in horror. She immediately tried to get out of her bed but Applejack held her back.

"Let go!!", Rainbow yelled, trying to fight her off.

"You can't go see her right now, Rainbow", Applejack said.

Rainbow managed to climb off the bed but Applejack grabbed her around her waist. Rainbow struggled and fought.

"Let me go. I have to see her!!".

"You can't right now!!".

"Let me see my mom!!".

Rainbow started sobbing. Tears ran down her face. She stopped fighting. Applejack put her back on the hospital bed. Rainbow broke into tears. She sniffled and looked at Applejack.

"I want my Mommy".

Applejack felt her heart break. She pulled the teen to her body. Rainbow hugged her, crying loudly. Applejack rubbed her back comfortingly.

"Ah know babe. But she's in surgery right now-".

"What??!!", she pulled away, eyes wide.

Applejack sighed. "Yeah. But the doctor said he'll let us know when she's out and in a room".

Rainbow sniffled.

"If she dies, I'm going to feel so horrible".

"We'll go see her once we're allowed to", Strike promised.

The doctor came in later on. The group told him about Rainbow's memory loss. He diagnosed Rainbow with post traumatic stress and a minor concussion from when she hit her head after collapsing. He told them that she would have to stay in the hospital for a bit, to make sure that her memory loss wasn't serious or long-term.

Applejack and Strike slept over while the others went home. They came back the next day.

Rainbow was allowed to see her mom.

"You sure about this??", Strike asked.

Rainbow nodded. She, Applejack, and Strike walked down the hall. They came to a room. Rainbow Dash slid open the glass door. She slowly walked in.

Eden was sitting on her bed, in a hospital gown, watching her tv.

"Mom", Rainbow said.

Eden immediately saw them. She gasped.

"Oh Rainbow, sweetheart".

Rainbow speed walked over to her mom's bedside. She sat down on the bed. The two embraced eachother.

"Rainbow", Eden said, giving Rainbow a kiss on her head.

Rainbow pulled away and looked at her.

"Are you alright??", Eden asked, checking her for injuries. "Did you get hurt??".

Rainbow shook her head. Then she shrugged.

"If can't remember even if I did get hurt".

Eden gave her a confused look. Strike came foward.

"Eden".

Eden looked up at him.

"Strike", she said in surprise.

The man walked over to the two, Applejack behind him. He stood in front of Eden.

"Rainbow can't remember a thing that happened yesterday".

"What??. Why??".

Strike sighed. "The doctor said it's post traumatic stress. She went into shock and I guess that blocked the memory of you getting shot. She fainted soon after you were taken away to the hospital. We tried to catch her but she just collapsed suddenly and she must've hit her head, because the doctor also said she has a concussion. Nothing major. A little bruising and a alot of confusion and fear of not being able to remember what happened".

Strike looked at Rainbow, who was looking at her mom. The man looked back to Eden.

"And so she doesn't remember", he finished.

Eden looked at her daughter.

"How do you feel??", she asked, brushing Rainbow's bangs out of her face.

Rainbow shrugged. "I don't know. Happy that I finally got to see you. I was terrified when they told me what happened".

"I mean physically", Eden said softly.

Rainbow sighed, leaning on her. "Exhausted. I feel sore everywhere, my head hurts. My legs hurt, but I'm guessing that's from the skating we did yesterday??".

Eden nodded. Rainbow noticed she looked like something was bothering her.

"What's wrong??. Something on your mind??".

Eden looked at her. She sighed, tucking Rainbow's hair behind her ears.

"I can't believe that man", she said, shaking her head. "He was pointing that gun at you".

Eden stared at Rainbow Dash.

"I nearly lost you. He tried to kill you".

Rainbow's eyes widened. A picture came to her mind. She saw the gun pointing right at her, the man standing up.

Then she remembered feeling arms wrap around her, them both falling to the ice. Eden had protected her from the bullet.

Rainbow's eyes widened.

She mom had taken the bullet for her. She caused her mom to get shot. This was all her fault. Rainbow's eyes filled up with tears.

"I remember", she said, her voice cracking. "I remember everything now". "You do??", Applejack asked in alarm.

Rainbow slowly nodded, looking out into space.

"I saw the gun pointing right at me. I saw my life flash before my eyes. Then.....".

Rainbow looked at Eden.

"You saved me. You took the bullet for me".

Eden nodded. "Yeah. I did, honey. I wasn't going to let anything happen to you".

Eden took her hand. She felt Rainbow Dash shaking. She looked up at her daughter. Rainbow had tears running down her face.

"This was all my fault. I caused this".

"No!!".

Eden sat up quickly.

"Rainbow Eden Dash. No you did not".

Tears ran down Rainbow's cyan colored skin.

"Yes I did", she cried. "You got hurt because of me. I hurt you".

Eden shook her head, holding Rainbow's wrist.

"Rainbow", she said. "Listen to me" .

Rainbow tried to run out, but Applejack grabbed her. Rainbow fought against her, trying to push her away.

"NO. LET ME GO!!".

"Rainbow. Please", Applejack said. "Calm down and breathe".

Rainbow looked up at her.

"Don't tell me to calm down", she sobbed. "I almost got her killed. I can't be near her or I might get her killed this time".

"Rainbow!!".

Applejack took her by her arms and shook her lightly.

"Listen ta me!!".

Rainbow calmed a down a little. She sniffled, her body trembling. Applejack stared at her for a moment.

"This wasn't yir fault", Applejack said.

Rainbow nodded. "It was, Applejack".

"No, Rainbow", Eden spoke up.

Both teens looked at the woman. Eden motioned for her to sit down. Rainbow looked hesitant but did as told anyways. She kept her distant, keeping her hands to herself.

Eden reached a hand out. Rainbow Dash flinched away, retracting her body. Eden sighed.

"Dashie. Listen to me. You did not cause this to happen. Okay??. This was not your fault. I chose to take that bullet for you. It wasn't your choice, it was mine. I knew it would happen".

Rainbow shook her head. "Why??".

Eden smiled. "I love you so much, Rainbow. You're my daughter".

Eden wiped Rainbow's tears away.

"And I wasn't going to let anyone hurt my little girl. I'll always protect you. No matter what the cost is. I would give up my life for you".

Rainbow couldn't believe her mom said that. She meant it. Eden smiled and wrapped her arms around her.

"And you didn't put me in danger. You saved me".

Rainbow raised an eyebrow.

"I did??".

Eden nodded.

"Yeah. Rainbow".

Eden took her hands in hers. Rainbow relaxed, settling down to listen to what her mom had to say.

"I remember when I got shot", Eden said. "It hurt so badly. I remember feeling someone lift me up. It was you, Baby. You got me backstage all by yourself. You're so strong and you knew just what to do".

Rainbow nodded. "Of coarse. I had to get you to where the paramedics were backstage. If I didn't, you would die".

"Well thank good you did", a voice said.

Everyone turned their heads. A male doctor stood by the door. He walked closer, a smile on his face.

"I'm doctor Healthman", he said. "Eden here told me about what you did. You did a fine job, young lady".

Rainbow smiled a little at the praise.

The doctor then had a serious look on his face.

"If you hadn't gotten her backstage when you did, your mother wouldn't have lived very long. You saved her life. She'll make a full recovery and be back on the ice soon enough".

Rainbow was in shock. She saved her mom??.

"But she saved me. She took that bullet for me. I didn't save her. I just got her off the rink".

Eden laughed lightly.

"Rainbow. Darling".

Rainbow turned and looked at her mom. Eden smiled brightly.

"Yes. I did take that bullet for you", she said. "But you did save my life. You got me backstage to the paramedics. You knew just what to do and basically carried me off the ice all by yourself" .

Eden reached a hand out and smoothed down Rainbow's hair.

"You're my hero, Rainbow and I'm so proud of you. My brave little girl".

Rainbow smiled. "You are??".

Eden nodded, tears in her eyes.

"Yeah. I am".

Rainbow hugged her mom. Eden hugged back, running her fingers slowly through Rainbow's long hair.

"I love you, Rainbow", she said.

Rainbow felt herself tear up at her words. It meant the world to her when her mom was proud of her.

"I love you too", she said quietly.

Rainbow sighed silently. She suddenly felt sleepy. The events of the past two days suddenly crashed on her.

"I thought you were gonna die", she admitted. "And I thought it was my fault".

"It wasn't", Eden reminded her. "None of it. It was the man's fault".

Rainbow nodded, a tear running down her face. She wiped it away.

"Are you gonna be okay??".

"She should make a full recovery", the doctor spoke up, smiling. "She'll need to be in the hospital for another day or two, you as well. But she'll just fine".

Rainbow smiled in relief.

"Thank you, doctor".

"No", he said. "Thank you"

Rainbow looked at her mom, a small grin on her face.

"Some Mother's Day, huh??".

Everyone laughed. Eden rolled her eyes, smiling.

"Yup. Best day ever".

She then shrugged. "But you know what??".

They all looked at the woman. Eden looked at Rainbow Dash, smiling. Rainbow looked at her.

"What??".

Eden shook her head gently.

"I wouldn't want to spend it with anyone else. You being here, happy and alive made this the best Mother's Day ever. I'm so happy and proud to happy to have you as a daughter, Rainbow".

"Same here", Rainbow replied.

"Now. Lay down", Eden said. "I want my little Dashie with me".

Rainbow giggled. She laid down beside her mom, her arm around her. The two snuggled up together, smiling.

"Happy Mother's Day, Mom", Rainbow said.

Eden kissed her forehead gently.

"Best Mother's Day gift I've ever gotten", she said.

Rainbow raised an eyebrow.

"What gift??".

Eden poked her nose lightly.

"You".

So yup. Sorry this was late. I was too tired to finish this yesterday night. So comment your thoughts on this and I'll try to update tomorrow :)
