Love vs Parents

This was a request. I am finally getting to some old requests that I did not get to before, so if you did request something last year, I'll be getting to it. Especially since school ends on Wednesday for me. So after next week, I'll have all the time in the world to update. Enjoy!! :)
-------------------

Rainbow Dash and Applejack knew from the start that their parents did not approve of their relationship.

When Applejack met Rainbow's dad, he had looked at Applejack for a moment. Rainbow's father gave her look of disgust, eyeing Applejack.

"Dyke." He had said under his breath.

Applejack had looked at Rainbow Dash to see her looking at her dad in disappointment, crushes that her dad didn't approve. Her dad was a homophobe. Applejack wasn't as hurt as Rainbow Dash when Lightning said that offensive word under his breath.

To sum it up, Rainbow's father yelled at his only child, screaming every curse word under the sun. Rainbow yelled back, defending herself and Applejack. If wasn't until Lightning had grabbed Rainbow Dash that Applejack intervened. She had karate chopped the crook of man's elbow, making him let Rainbow go. She took Rainbow by the hand and they quickly left without another word.

Meeting Applejack's mom and dad wasn't as great as they'd hoped either. Rainbow remembered the way Applejack's parents looked at her in surprise, obviously Rainbow wasn't what they was expecting.

Mrs.Smith looked her up and down and then asked "Her??. This is your girlfriend??."

Rainbow had felt her stomach drop. She had known right then and there, that they didn't like her. Applejack dad was totally scary. He took notice and had as much fun with that as possible. He had taken out it hunting gun. Rainbow had frozen up, eyes wide.

They two adults interviewed her, asking questions and making comments about Rainbow's clothes and hair and how ugly she was, and then it got worse the topic of Rainbow's mental health conditions came up.

They began to list all the bad things about Rainbow to Applejack, claiming it so she knew what kind of person Rainbow was to them.

They called her lazy, crazy, insane, unstable, dangerous, incapable of taking care of Applejack or a future child or being able to love Applejack the way she deserved. It had gotten so bad, Rainbow had nearly started to cry and started to have a panic attack.

Applejack had noticed and immediately called it a day, yelled at her parents and led Rainbow out of there as fast as possible.

Applejack never went back to Rainbow's house, and it took a few months before she could find the courage to go back to Applejack's home.

The two were now in Applejack's room, watching a comedy tv show. Rainbow was laying in between Applejack's legs, holding the blonde teen's Stetson hat in her hands. The two lovers laughed.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

Applejack looked at the door. She felt Rainbow tense up. Placing a comforting hand on Rainbow's arm, Applejack called, "Come in!."

The door opened. Applejack's mom walked in. She looked at the teens.

"Applejack it's time for lunch." She said.

"Alright." Applejack said.

She and Rainbow climbed off the bed and stood up. Applejack's mom looked at Rainbow, her face twisting into a look of disgust.

"What the hell were you doing in her bed??." She sneered angrily at Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow looked up at the woman. She knew this would not turn out good.

"Uh- I.... um we were only watching tv. Applejack-."

"I don't care!." Orange hollered, making Rainbow nearly jump out of her own skin. "You know what?? Whatever. Come on."

Rainbow and Rainbow looked at each other. Rainbow looked uneasy and Applejack looked annoyed. She took Rainbow's hand and squeezed it. The two followed Orange down to the kitchen where Applejack's dad and siblings were already eating at the table.

"I have your plate on the table, honey." Orange said as she sat down. "Rainbow. Your plate is in the living room."

Orange sat down beside her husband. Rainbow nodded, though kind of hurt that Applejack's parents did not want her to eat with the family.

"Why can't Rainbow sit with us?." Applebloom asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Because." Orange replied as if it were normal for them to behave that way. "There's no room for her here. I'm sure she won't mind eating alone."

She looked up at Rainbow and gave her a hard stare.

"Right, Rainbow??."

Rainbow saw the death in her eyes. She nodded.

"R-Right." She stammered. "I-I-I don't mind. Um, I'll um- I'll go eat now. Thank you, Mrs.Smith."

Rainbow turned and quickly walked out of the room. Applejack, Applebloom, and Big Mac looked at each other. They immediately grab their plates and silverware and got up and left the room.

"Where do you three think you're going??." Jackson asked.

Applejack looked at her parents. She shrugged.

"To be with mah girlfriend." She said simply.

"And we're gonna spend some time with Rainbow Dash." AB spoke up. "She don't come around a lot and we miss bein' with her."

Big Mac gave a nod. "Eeyup."

The three walked into the living room. Jackson and Orange, not soon after, heard the living room TV and chatter echo from down the hallway.
-----------------------

Rainbow rolled her eyes.

"Dad. I don't like Soarin."

Dad took a swing of his alcohol. He looked up from his dinner plate and up at his daughter. The two sat alone together in the brightly lit dining room. Rainbow's mom was working, so they were alone in the house.

"He's a great boy." Lightning pointed out. "He's smart and respectful, gets good grades, a star athlete. He was raised as a gentleman. Give him a chance."

Rainbow sighed. "Dad. He's not my type. Plus, I'm already taken, remember??. Applejack?."

The man snorted, looking away.

"Applejack. What's so great about her anyway??. Her family is all rich and important and own a big company."

"But they're humble." Rainbow shot back. "Applejack never flaunts her money in my face. She's not like that. She's sweet and generous and honest and likable. She's great, Dad. Really. Can't you be happy for me??."

"She's a girl." Her father said flatly. "So no. I will not be happy for my dyke daughter."

Rainbow felt as if she had been punched in the face. That hurt, even though she's heard that a million times alright.

Rainbow ducked her head and they continued eating without so much as a peep to each other.
------------------------

Applejack hummed, strumming the strings of her acoustic guitar. She soft tunes rang out in the open space of the music room. Applejack had her feet propped up on the table, the guitar on her lap.

She suddenly heard a knock on the door.

"Come in." She called, not looking at the door.

She heard the knob turn and the door open.

"Hey, Kiddo." She heard her dad's voice.

Applejack looked up. She saw her her dad walk in. She smiled.

"Hey, Papa." She said. "What's up?."

Jackson walked over to the sofa Applejack was sitting on and sat down beside her.

"Listen." He said, "We need to talk."

Applejack frowned. What could he possibly want to talk about?

"What about?."

"Rainbow."

He sounded concerned. Applejack took her feet off of the table and sat up straight.

"Is she okay??." She asked immediately.

"She's fine." Jackson said. "But um...... people have been telling me and your mother some things. They've seen Rainbow with someone else. Like, holdin' hands n' kissin."

Applejack raised an eyebrow. Was this a joke?? Seriously?? Applejack didn't believe it for a second.

"Wait. Are you serious??."

Jackson nodded. "Yeah. Ah didn't want to tell ya because ah knew it'd break your heart, but you have the right ta find out from me than from someone else. Ah'm so sorry, Applejack."

Applejack snorted. "You're such a liar." She scoffed. "Rainbow would NEVER cheat. She may seem like the type, but she ain't. She's never hurt me like that. Why're you so against her??."

Jackson looked a taken back.

"Ah'm telling you the truth, AJ, and ah don't think you should talk to her anymore. Probably break up with her now that you know. Ah'm tryin' ta protect you, AJ."

Applejack put her guitar down. She faced her body towards her dad.

"Who did people see her with??." She asked.

"A boy." Jackson asked. "I think his name is Soarin."

Applejack laughed.

"That's so stupid. Soarin likes someone else. Not Rainbow. They're just friends, Dad. Rainbow would never cheat on me with him. Soarin wouldn't do that ta me either. He's a good guy, but not Rainbow's type. Trust me. She told me, but nice try, Dad."

Applejack picked up her guitar, chuckling.

"Rainbow datin' Soarin. What do ya guys take me for?? An idiot??."

"Applejack." Jackson said. "Rainbow is no good for you. You can do so much better. You need someone better than her. Rainbow is a no good low life with an alcoholic father and an abandoning mother. She's not in a stable home and that can rub off on her and I just want you safe. Can't you see that?."

"Ah know you do." Applejack said. "But you also just don't like her. You didn't have ta lie to me. Ah can tell a lie from the truth. Now, if you'll excuse me, Ah'm tryin' ta get some work done."

Jackson sighed. He stood up and walked out of the room. Applejack heard the click of the door closing. She huffed. She picked up her phone and unlocked it. She went to her contacts and found Rainbow's number. Clicking on it, she listened to it ring.

It was picked up.

"Hey, babe." She sighed. "You're not gonna believe what mah dad just told me."
---------------------------

Rainbow and Applejack laughed. Rainbow attempted to push Applejack away, but Applejack found an opening and wiped her cookie dough covered finger across her left cheek.

"Applejack." She laughed. "That's a waste of perfectly good cookie dough."

Applejack released her and went back to scooping the dough and putting it onto the cookie sheet. Rainbow stuck her tongue out at Applejack as she wiped the cookie dough off her face with a paper towel.

"Meanie."

Applejack smirked. "Ah know."

Rainbow walked up to her and wrapped her arms around Applejack's waist. She smiled, looking over her shoulder.

"I hope these cookies come out good." She said. "The only time cookies ever come out good for me is when Pinkie is there to help."

Applejack looked at her, grinning. "Ah know, right?."

"Get your hands off my daughter."

Rainbow jumped and backed away from Applejack. The two turned their head over to the entrance of the kitchen. Applejack's mom walked in.

"What the heck are you two doing?? Messing up my kitchen??."

Applejack frowned. "It's just cookies, mom. We'll clean up as the cookies bake. Promise."

Orange looked at Rainbow Dash.

"Rainbow. May I speak with you in the hall??."

Rainbow pulled on a fake smile. She nodded.

"Of course." She said.

She followed Orange out of the kitchen and down the hall. Rainbow was getting nervous. No doubt this was another plan to bring her down and or to try to break her and AJ up. Orange stopped suddenly, making Rainbow Dash nearly crash into her. Orange turned and looked at her.

"Rainbow." She said. "I know about your home life and so I know that money is pretty tight, right??."

Rainbow swallowed and nodded.

"I guess."

"And you want to go to college, right??."

"Actually." Rainbow said, smiling. "I want to be a professional athlete, but to get noticed I'll want to go to college and and try and get a scholarship for track and run for a college team and get an education so I'm not completely relying on track for a future so I'll be able to get a job in case it doesn't happen right away when I get to college. So, yes. I want to go to college. Why do you ask?."

Orange crossed her arms and smiled.

"How would you like it if I paid for your college intuition??." She asked.

Rainbow's jaw dropped. She must've looked stupid with her mouth hanging open like that. She couldn't believe it. Pay for her intuition??

"You'd do that??." She asked.

Orange nodded. "Of course."

Then she got serious. "But there's a condition."

Rainbow frowned. Damn it. She knew there'd be a catch.

"What is it??."

Orange held up a finger. "You either A) break up with my daughter and leave her alone"

She held another finger for two

"or B) whatever college she goes to, you pick the college that's furthest away from her as possible if you get in. Deal?."

"Wait what?. You're bribing me to break up with Applejack?? That's low."

Orange crossed her arms. "I'm just looking out for my daughter and doing what's best for her. What's your answer?."

"No way." Rainbow said. "I am not choosing money over Applejack. I'm not an idiot. I really really care about and like your daughter. Applejack means a lot to me and if never ever break up with her for all the money in the world."

"Rainbow." Orange said, her voice softening. "I'm offering you a ticket to a great future. You'll be able to attend any college that accepts you. And I'll be frank. You're really good."

Rainbow was shocked. She had just complimented her. That was a first.

"You are." Orange continued. "And you'll be able to get into amazing colleges around Equestria. Recruiters will see you and want you immediately. I know so."

She smiled. "This is a great opportunity, Rainbow. Don't let a silly relationship jeopardize your future."

Rainbow thought about it. A free pass to college. Any college that would accept her. Money was her ticket. To stardom. To her dream come true. This was a miracle on earth.

She paused. A miracle with a hidden selfish motive. This woman didn't care about Rainbow fulfilling her life long dream. She didn't care about Rainbow or Rainbow's future. She just wanted to make sure Rainbow wasn't in Applejack'a future.

The realization shattered her. She looked up at Orange. Tears of disappointment and anger burned her magenta hued eyes. She'd never felt so crushed in her life.

"No." She said. "Because I know what this is really about. You don't care about me or my future or what happens to me. You just want me out of Applejack's life. But no. I'm not going anywhere. And I don't care what you say or do. I'm not going anywhere and I will not hurt your daughter. That's so evil that'd you want someone to break your own daughter's heart because of selfishness. You don't like us together. You hate us together. We may be young and not know what love is, but we know what isn't. And that is what my parents and you and your husband is trying to do. Hurt us. What kind of parents are you? You should be ashamed of yourself. Trying to break us up will only cause Applejack to hate you. I'm no parent expert but I'm pretty sure that trying to sabotage your kid's relationship will only damage your own relationship with them."

Rainbow crossed her arms.

"The day I stop loving Applejack is the day I die. And she'll have to be the one that breaks up with me, because I don't ever want to. So there is your answer. No. Never ask me that question again."

Rainbow huffed.

"Now if you'll excuse me, I have cookies to bake."

She turned around when her arm was suddenly grabbed. Rainbow flinched as she was whirled around.

A hand made contact with her cheek. Rainbow stumbled into the wall. Rainbow gasped, holding a hand to her cheek. Her cheek stung badly. She looked at the woman in shock. Orange stood there seething.

"Don't you dare speak to me like that you little wench." She growled. "This is why I can't stand you. Your parents obviously use foul language around you and so you don't know how to control that tongue. You should know better than to mouth an adult, you little bitch. And not to mention your clothes. What? Did you get that from Good will?? And forget what I said about you being a good athlete. I hope you fail at life. I hope you end up on the street, starving and cold. I'll drive by your little corner every day to see you beg for food and laugh at you."

Rainbow could not believe this woman was so cruel. For what?? Rainbow swallowed. But before she could respond, a voice came from behind her.

"How dare you say that to her."

The two turned and saw Applejack standing there.

"Ah heard everythin." She said. "How could you??."

She walked up beside Rainbow Dash. She glared up at her mom.

"You seriously tried ta pat her ta break up with me??. Are you kiddin' me?. That really hurts, Mom. It does. But Ah'm more angry than upset. Ah am so done with this. You, Dad, and Rainbow's dad are always tryna break us up. Especially you guys. Ah don't get why you're so determined. We're happy together. If it doesn't work it out, then it won't work out. No need ta push it. Can't you be happy for me??."

Orange sighed. "Honey. It's not that. It's just. Your dad n' I want the best for you and we really don't think Rainbow is the best for you. We don't think you two could be happy together. She comes from such a rough background and we just want you safe. She's set up for failure and we don't want you to have the burden."

"Burden??." Applejack said. "Rainbow is not a burden. And she is good for me. She brings out the best in me, Mom. If you knew how we really are, you'd know that she makes me work hard. She always pushes me ta understand her and keep an open mind. Because of her Ah'm more wise and ah know more about how people are. Ah learn from her. And ah keep her grounded. Ah help her with her social skills and ta work hard and ah teach her ta never give up on herself even when everyone else does. We work hand in hand. We balance yet butt heads with each other. We rival at times, yet we're like the opposite of each other and the same. We new each other."

Applejack smiled at Rainbow who was blushing. Applejack reached out and slowly took her hand.

"She's everything ta me and ah love her so much."

Rainbow grinned. "Right back at cha."

Applejack looked at her mom.

"So ah don't care what you say or do. You will never put your hands on mah girlfriend like that again and you will respect her just like she respects you. Ah've had it with your threats and schemes. Stop it. If you don't like it, too bad. We're almost eighteen. Young adults. So that means we'll be able ta make our own decisions. Especially on who we date. So butt out of mah love life."

Applejack looked at Rainbow Dash, smiling.

"Let's go check on those cookies. Ah put em in the oven before ah came over here."

The two walked away, hand in hand. They walked into the kitchen. Rainbow suddenly stopped, making Applejack also stop.

"I wasn't gonna take the offer." She said

Applejack quickly turned to her and placed a finger on Rainbow's lips. She smiled.

"Ya don't have ta explain anythin' ta me. Ah know you wouldn't take the offer. But that's all said and done."

Applejack wrapped her arms around Rainbow's waist. She looked at Rainbow. She suddenly gasped quietly.

"Rainbow. Your cheek is red."

Rainbow touched the cheek where Applejack's mom had hit her. She winced at the pain and pulled her hand away from the stinging skin.

"Oh this. Yeah. It'll go away soon."

Applejack frowned.

"Let's go get some ice on that."

She turned to go to the fridge when Rainbow stopped her.

"Applejack?."

Applejack looked at her. "Yeah?."

Rainbow smiled. She leaned in and kissed her on the lips. Applejack kissed back, holding her by the waist.

Rainbow pulled away, smiling brightly.

"Thank you. That meant a lot what you said."

Applejack smiled back.

"No problem." She said. "Ah wouldn't let her get away with that. You told her off pretty good too. It was really sweet what you said."

Rainbow shrugged, her eyes lowering to the floor.

"Well I meant every word."

Applejack kissed her lips, pulling Rainbow closer.

"Cmon. Let's get cha some ice and then cookie time."

Rainbow poked her nose.

"I'm so lucky to have you." She sighed.

Applejack gave her an Eskimo kiss, rubbing their noses together.

"And ain't no one gonna tear us apart. It's you and me against the world."

Rainbow gave a determined nod.

"Agreed."

So yeah. Comment what you thought of this :)
