Applejack sighed, escaping her lips. The teen wrapped her coat tighter around herself.

Why of all days did it have to snow so much today?? Applejack couldn't wait for the spring to come back. She hated the cold.

Applejack looked at her friends, who were walking beside her in their little group. The group of girls were walking through the city. They had met up at a cafe for lunch and were on their way to Rarity's car.

The streets were near empty. Most the people in town were at home, getting ready for the holidays and the shops were mostly closed because of the weather. It had snowed heavily the night before so not many people could leave their houses, let alone drive in the snow.

The snow made it seem even colder that day.

Applejack was not happy about it at all.

"Ah can't wait till this stupid cold goes away".

"Stop being such a downer", Pinkie Pie said, a grin on her face. "Winter is amazing. It had snow and Christmas and we can sled and play in the snow. But if you don't like the snow and cold, there's fireplaces to light, decorations to put up, movies to watch while snuggling with the one you love".

Applejack rolled her eyes.

"Well ah don't have anyone ta snuggle with, remember??. Ah'm as single as ah'll ever be".

"C'mon now", Rarity said. "Cheer up. I'm sure things will turn up for you soon".

"Guys", Fluttershy suddenly said. "Do you hear that??".

They stopped and listened. They did hear something. Or someone. It was yelling.

"Where's it coming from??", Fluttershy asked.

Applejack listened.

"C'mon", she said, jogging down the sidewalk.

The girls jogged down the following the sound. They stopped in front of an alley.

They immediately saw a sight that made them gasp.

There were three men beating up a girl. The men, from the distance, looked buff and tall. The three grown men were pushing around and tossing the girl around.

Applejack felt her blood boiling.

"Hey!!", she shouted.

The men stopped and looked at the girls.

"Leave her alone", Rarity ordered, hands on her hips.

The girls ran towards the men and the girl. One of the men scooped up the girl and they bolted. The girls chased them down the alley, into another block.

"Twi!!", Applejack shouted. "Use yir magic!!".

Twilight shot out a stream of magic. The men suddenly slipped. The girl was let go of. The men got up and ran away, leaving the girl on the sidewalk.
The girls ran over to her. Applejack knelt down beside her.

"Are you okay??".

The girl flinched. She cowered away from Applejack in fear.

"Please don't hurt me", she whimpered.

"We're not gonna hurt cha", Applejack said. "We just wanna help ya".

The girl looked up at her. They recognized her. Her name was Rainbow Dash. She went to the same school as them. Rainbow was the captain of the soccer team.

Applejack also had a crush on her. They weren't close friends but they did have a few classes together in school and talked.

Rainbow looked up at Applejack. Applejack reached out. Rainbow moved away.

"Hey, it's okay", AJ said softly. "I'm gonna help you up".

Applejack took hold of Rainbow Dash. She helped her sit up slowly. Rainbow winced in pain. She grunted.

"Why were those guys beating you up??", Fluttershy asked.

Rainbow sighed. "My dad isn't exactly the nicest person. I know he sent them after me".

The girls were shocked. They had no idea Rainbow Dash would be getting abused.

"Does he hit cha himself??", Applejack asked.

Rainbow nodded. "Yeah but you get use to it".

Rainbow looked at the ground. "He's gonna spend a few days with his friends so he kicked me out until those days are up".

Rainbow shrugged. "So I'll have to just find somewhere to sleep. I don't have to eat anything since I rarely eat anyways so I'm use to nor eating for days on end".

Her face fell. "All the shelters are probably full since there's a snow storm coming tonight".

Applejack couldn't even think of Rainbow out here on her own. With nothing to keep her warm and out I the open for anything to happen to her.

No.

"You're stayin' with me", she said.

Rainbow looked at her. "You don't have to do that. I'll be okay on my own".

A gust of wind blew by. Rainbow wrapped her arms around herself, shivering intensely. She was only wearing a hoodie so it didn't keep the cold out. Applejack looked at the others. They all looked concerned.

Applejack looked at Rainbow Dash. The teen was miserable. She was injured, freezing, and probably terrified of the possibility of being alone tonight.

That was it.

"Rainbow", Applejack said. "You're staying at mah apartment whether you like ir not. Ah will not take no fir an answer".

Rainbow sighed. "Fine".

Applejack smiled. "Good".

Applejack scooped her up in her arms and stood up. Rainbow blushed a light red.

"Um ok".

"Let's go", Twilight said.

"There".

Twilight smiled. She had just finished attending Rainbow's injuries. Rainbow was on the sofa in the living room, Twilight sitting to her left.

Rainbow had been beaten pretty badly.

Rainbow had many cuts and bruises along with bruised ribs. The girls had seen the damage when Applejack and Fluttershy were helping Rainbow Dash change into comfortable clothes.
Applejack still couldn't believe someone could do that to a teenage girl that has done nothing wrong.

"Thanks, you guys", Rainbow said. "I don't know what I'd do without you".

"No problem at all", Rarity said. "Now I think is a good time to let you rest and we'll come back tomorrow".

"Yeah", Twilight agreed. "We'll come back. In the meantime, get some rest and keep warm".

She looked at Applejack.

"Keep an eye on her. Don't let her go anywhere without assistance".

Applejack nodded.

The girls left, leaving only Applejack and Rainbow Dash. Applejack looked at her. She went over to her and sat down beside her.

"So Rainbow. You said that yir dad beats ya often?".

Rainbow nodded. "Once every few days I guess. He gets angry with me alot and hates me because I'm a lesbian".

Applejack was shocked. Rainbow liked girls??.

"Oh. Well that ain't right".

Rainbow grinned. "At least someone agrees with me".

Rainbow sighed, looking away. "I tend to spend Christmas alone ever year. Ever since my mom died when I was little, my dad became the devil so he can't stand me".

Applejack smiled. "Well then, you'll be spendin' it with me this year. How does that sound?".

Rainbow looked at her. "I don't want to bother you or get in your way. I'm sure I can -".

"Rainbow??", Applejack cut her off. "Shut up".

Rainbow stopped. She sighed in defeat. "Fine. I don't have a choice, do I??".

AJ grinned and shook her head.

"Nope".

Rainbow suddenly yawned quietly. She must've been exhausted after everything she's been through. Applejack thought it'd be best to let her sleep.

"Well", she said. "You should rest and get some sleep".

Rainbow's face turned to a nervous one. She bit her bottom lip.

"Um actually. Do you think you could stay here?? Just until I fall asleep".

Applejack didn't expect that request. She couldn't pass up the idea of staying with RainbowDash longer.

"Sure", she said, smiling.

Applejack helped Rainbow Dash lay down. The lights were turned off. The teens laid down, the fireplace giving a soft light in the room. Applejack pulled the blanket up, making sure Rainbow would be warm.

"Thanks Applejack", Rainbow said.

Applejack smiled. "It's no trouble at all, sugarcube".

As Applejack tucked her in, she couldn't help but say, "Ya know. Ya didn't deserve what those guys did to you. You didn't deserve to be treated like that".

Rainbow smiled gently. "It's fine, Applejack".

"No, it's not", Applejack argued, frowning. "Those guys attacked you and hurt cha. Ah was about ta kill them when me and the gals found ya. If I had been there, they wouldn't have had the chance ta hurt cha".

Rainbow giggled. "You make it sound like we're dating".

Applejack was quiet. Rainbow noticed.

"AJ??".

"Do you want to??".

Rainbow wasn't expecting that.

"Want to what??".

"Date", Applejack replied.

Rainbow's eyes widened. Applejack and Rainbow stared at eachother for a moment in silence.

"You like me??".

Applejack nodded. She knew she was talking a big chance here.

"Yeah....... ah do".

It was quiet.

Rainbow looked away. "I didn't know that".

She then looked at Applejack, grinning.

"I like you too", she admitted. "I've had a crush on you for a while".

Applejack smiled. Yes!!

"So you wanna go out sometime??. To the movies ir somethin??".

"Okay", Rainbow replied, smiling.

Applejack laid her head down.

"Good night".

"Good night".

It went quiet. Applejack began to hear the soft breathing of the athlete. She looked over at her to see Rainbow fast asleep. Applejack smiled. She scooted closer and wrapped her arm around Rainbow's waist. Rainbow unconsciously snuggled into her warm embrace.

Applejack could get use to this. This was gonna be a great winter.
