Applejack had noticed Rainbow had been acting different lately. Rainbow was usually loud and obnoxious. Always a smile on her face and talking about anything she pleased.

But ever since she started dating Blaze, Rainbow had become quieter and didn't smile as much. The girls had noticed right away but didn't say anything. Their group was much quieter as they sat around the are tree in the school yard. Usually Rainbow would be talking to Twilight about a new Daring Do book she read or was sharing some food with Pinkie Pie.

Today, she was quietly sitting beside Blaze as he talked to the girls about the football game he played the day before.

Applejack couldn't care less about football when he talked. When Rainbow talked about soccer, she could listen to the girl speak all day.

She didn't like Blaze. Another reason, she was kinda in love with Rainbow Dash. Ever since the girls had defeated Nightmare Moon, Applejack realized her feelings for the athletic girl.

She was the first to notice the change in Rainbow. She was now watching her sit quietly. This wasn't the Rainbow she knew.

Applejack looked over at Twilight, who looked at her. She stuck her tongue out and crossed her eyes. Twilight silently laughed.

Applejack smiled when she heard Rainbow giggle. Turning she smiled at the girl. Suddenly Blaze jabbed Rainbow in the stomach with his elbow.

Rainbow held in a groan and held her bruised stomach. Her smile was gone. She looked up at Blaze.

"What did I tell you about laughing??", he hissed.

Rainbow flinched. "Sorry".

Blaze rolled his eyes, obviously angry. He smacked the back of Rainbow's head and got up and walked away.

Rainbow rubbed her head and watched him leave. She slowly brought her knees to her chest, wrapping her arms around them.

She looked up at the girls with a fake smile.

"He'll be okay".

Applejack crawled over to her. She touched Rainbow's arm.

"What the heck was that??. He just hit chu".

Rainbow shrugged, her eyes downcast. "So??".

Applejack eyed her.

"Rainbow. What's goin on??. Ya don't laugh anymore around us, ya don't speak as much. Plus, you wear that sweater all the time".

Rainbow looked down at her red sweater. She crossed her arms self-consciously.

"And??".

Applejack sighed. "What's goin on with you??. And why did Blaze smack your head like that??. He has no right ta do that".

Rainbow looked away.

"It's not so bad. Just drop it".

Applejack went quiet.

"Okay".

She pulled the younger girl into a hug.

"We're just worried about cha. That's all".

"I know", Rainbow said hugging back. -----------------------

Applejack groaned. Her bookbag must've weighed more than she did. The blonde walked out of the school, relieved the day was over with.

She sighed and stopped at the end of the staircase.

"What the hell is wrong with you??".

Applejack heard a voice from a bit away. Turning she saw Rainbow Dash and Blaze standing there. Applejack hid herself and watched.

Blaze was angry. He smacked Rainbow Dash. Rainbow touched her face, a look of fear in her eyes.

"I was only texting Twilight".

"You don't text your friends when I'm around. Your thoughts and mind should be on me. Not them. Me and me alone".

Rainbow was shaking. Applejack was not happy about that.

Rainbow nodded.

"C-Can I leave now??. I-I have to go meet up with Applejack".

Blaze rolled his eyes.

"Applejack. Applejack this. Applejack that. Is everything about her??!!".

Rainbow Dash jumped.

"Don't yell", she said. "And no it's not. Don't be stupid".

"What did you just say??", Blaze growled.

He grabbed Rainbow's wrist tightly. Rainbow whimpered.

"Please stop it".

"Don't tell what to do. If anything you're the stupid one here".

Rainbow looked at floor, afraid to look up at him.

"Now shut up and listen. You are nothing. We're only a thing so that people will notice me. You just stand beside me and say nothing. I don't need a little annoying chatterbox as a girlfriend. So you should be grateful to be my girlfriend. I could have chose any girl, but I chose you".

Rainbow was shoved away.

"If I see any bruises on you that aren't covered up the next I see you, we're going to have a problem. Understand??".

Rainbow nodded.

"I understand".

Blake walked away, bumping shoulders with her. He began to walk up the stairs when he stopped. He saw Applejack standing there. Applejack got up and came out of hiding, crossing her arms. Blaze backed up.

Rainbow saw her. She wasn't sure what to say.

"A-Applejack. I-I can explain", she began.

Applejack looked at her. She walked up to Rainbow and stood in front of her. She faced Blaze.

"Do you really think I'm that stupid??", she asked.

"Ah knew somethin was up. But ah never thought it would be this. You two are finished. She isn't going to be your little sidegirl. Rainbow isn't a thing. She has emotions and feelings too".

Applejack glared at Blaze.

"Rainbow is not stupid or annoying, or anything bad. She's amazing. She's funny, loyal, amazing, beautiful. Why would ya bruise her an treat er like crap??. Rainbow doesn't deserve someone like you. She's been through enough in her life as an orphan. She doesn't need you in her life messin it up".

Applejack laughed half-heartedly.

"Ah wish ah could hurt chu right now, but ah can't".

Applejack walked up to Blaze and got in close.

"Listen here an listen well. Rainbow is one of the most amazing and most kindest and nicest people you can find on this planet. If ya ever touch her, talk ta her or look at her, you're dead. Got it??".

Blaze nodded. Applejack shoved him away. He got up and walked off. Applejack watched him leave. Then she turned to look at Rainbow Dash.

She walked over to her. Rainbow looked at her, shaking. Applejack hugged her tightly. Rainbow hugged back.

"I'm so sorry", she whispered.

Applejack pulled away

"Fir what??".

Rainbow looked at the floor.

"Fir not telling you sooner. I didn't know you'd do that".

Applejack reached out and touched her shoulder.

"Was he always like that??".

Rainbow shook her head.

"At first he was sweet and nice. But then after a while he started to call me names and stuff. Then it led to pushes and grabbing. Then came the bruising".

Rainbow laughed.

"The funny thing is, I never liked him. I was trying to fool myself into liking him".

Applejack looked at her weirdly.

"Why??".

Rainbow bit her lip.

"So I could try to get over you".

Applejack was shocked. Her eyes widened a little.

Rainbow backed away.

"Forget I said anything. I'm just gunna go home and..... do stuff".

Applejack reached out and grabbed her arm. Rainbow looked at her. Applejack gently pulled her back.

"Rainbow......".

Rainbow looked at her, biting her lip.

Applejack looked into her eyes.

"Ah like you too".

Applejack slid her hand into Rainbow's hand. She smiled.

"Ah've been in love with you fir a long time and ta be honest, ah hated Blaze from the start. Ah thought that he wasn't right for you. You're too beautiful, too innocent, too amazing ta be with a guy like that. He made your smile go away".

Applejack frowned. "When you stopped smiling, the world had no meaning anymore. When you stopped reading Daring Do books, ah thought the world would end. When ah saw Blaze hurt chu, ah felt like killin him. Just know that you mean everything to me. Ah feel sorry fir Blaze that he can't tell how beautiful and amazing you are".

Rainbow smiled. Applejack felt like all was right in the world once more.

"There's that smile ah love so much".

Applejack looked down at Rainbow's arms. She was wearing her sweater.

"Please take off that sweater. Ah can't stand ta see you wear that anymore".

Rainbow looked down at the sweater. She bit her lip and slowly slipped it off. Applejack's eyes widened when she saw Rainbow's arms covered in bruises. Applejack gently examined the bruises.

She saw hand marks on Rainbow's left wrist. The blonde looked up at Rainbow's face.

"He ain't gonna hurt cha again. Ah promise".

Rainbow smiled. "I believe you".

Applejack reached a hand up and gently touched Rainbow's cheek. She could see a bruise on the girl's cheek as well. Applejack and Rainbow looked into eachother's eyes.

Applejack leaned in and kissed her. The kiss was soft and sweet. Rainbow felt herself easing into it. It wasn't forced like Blaze's kisses. Rainbow actually felt loved. Rainbow pulled away. She looked at Applejack.

"You know. This is most loved I've ever felt ever since my parents died".
Rainbow wrapped her arm around her neck and hugged her.

"Thanks".

Applejack hugged back.

"Don't mention it".

She pulled away and smiled.

"You hungry??".

Rainbow nodded.

Applejack agreed. She was too.

"You want a burger??".

Rainbow nodded. "Where??".

Applejack shrugged. "Five guys has some pretty rockin burgers and fries. We can invite the girls".

Rainbow smiled. "Okay".

"Actually that won't be necessary".

Both girls jumped. They turned and saw the girls standing there. The girls were fangirling.

Rainbow and Applejack blushed.

"How much did you see??", Applejack asked.

Rarity shrugged. "The whole thing Shakespeare. I am so sorry Rainbow. He's dirt and didn't deserve you".

Rainbow shrugged. The girls walked over to her and gave Rainbow a comforting hug. Rainbow smiled.

"We missed your smile", Fluttershy said. "You weren't you" anymore.

Rainbow felt an arm around her shoulders. She looked at Applejack.

"I missed me too. But he's gone, I'm free and have a girlfriend that loves me. So who wants some burgers??".

The girls cheered. The six walked down the lawn and down the street. Applejack picked Rainbow up somewhere down the block and spun around. Her backpack didn't seem so heavy as it before.

Rainbow laughed. "I'm getting dizzy".

Applejack stopped spinning. She shook the dizziness off and they kept walking. The blonde held Rainbow's hand and held the girl close.

Rainbow was happy again and Applejack's world was all it should be again and better. With Rainbow Dash in her arms, there wouldn't be a bad day in her world. Only blue skies. Every single day.
