Rainbow groaned. She had been scrubbing the ballroom floor. For hours. It was just that big.

Rainbow's arms hurt. She been running around all day. The Apple family was having people over later and Applejack's dad told her to have everything as amazing as it could be.

There was a few problems already. 1) Rainbow was sick. 2) Rainbow's depression had came back.

Rainbow was normally a happy girl but the reason of her being mute was also the reason of her depression. It wasn't that bad. She didn't do anything rash. She didn't do anything at all.

She didn't feel like doing ANYTHING. Today she didn't want to get out of bed but she had to. This was important to Applejack's dad so she would do everything she could.

"Hey stranger".

Rainbow looked up. She saw Applejack. She smiled for the first time that day. Then it left as soon as it came.

She gave a small half-hearted wave then got back to work. Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder. Rainbow didn't move or look up.

"What's wrong??", she heard the thick accent that belonged only to AJ.

The multi-colored hair girl shook her head. She stared at her hands. Looking up she forced a smile on her face. It was so hard to smile that it physically hurt her.
Applejack didn't believe it for a second. She asked again. "What's wrong Rainbow??. You can tell me".

Rainbow suddenly had the urge to cry. She didn't know why.

"Come on. Clean up. We're going somewhere".

Rainbow looked at her confused. She finished scrubbing the spot she was on and picked up the stuff. Bucket in one hand, rag, scrub and bottle of soap in the other.

She disposed the water down the drain in her personal bathroom and but the stuff away.

Wiping her hands on her apron she walked back over to Applejack. She gave her a questioning look. Applejack took off her apron and hung it up.

Applejack took her hand. "You'll see when we get there".

The two left the house. Applejack texted her dad when they got in the car. Putting her phone away she started the car and drove down the road.
----------------

Rainbow was torn between depressed and curious. They finally arrived at............. a carnival??.

There weren't many people there. Barely anybody at all. Rainbow looked unsure of getting out.

"Come on", Applejack said.

They got out the car. The walked into the entrance. Rainbow looked around boredly.
She looked at Applejack pleadingly. She didn't want to be anywhere but her bed.

"Don't give me that look. C'mon. Let's go have some fun".

The blonde took her hand. Rainbow blushed. They walked over to a game booth. It was a water gun game. Applejack smiled at her.

Rainbow looked at the guy at the booth. She smiled. Little did she know that guy could read her like an open book. He smiled back at her.

"Would ya like to play??", he asked.

Rainbow shook her head and took a step back. Applejack smiled softly.

"Cmon. You can do it. Just once".

Rainbow bit her lip, rubbing her arm gently.

"For me??", Applejack tried, knowing that Rainbow would do it if she said that.

Rainbow looked at her. She finally sighed and nodded. Applejack smiled.

She looked back at the man and nodded. Rainbow stepped up to the booth. Taking the water gun in her hand, she looked at the target.

Applejack smiled and stepped up behind her, putting her arms around her, her hands over hers. Rainbow smiled a bit. The bell rung and she started. As the balloon filled up she couldn't help but become concentrated on the game.

Applejack noticed her smile and felt her heart flutter once again. She felt herself fall deeper in love with the mute girl. Though she wished she could say something, anything to her, this would have to do.

The bell rung. "You earned a prize!!", the man exclaimed.

"Choose your pick".

Rainbow looked up at the different toys. She looked at Applejack. She held out her hand. Applejack took her phone out and handed it to her. Typing something down Rainbow handed back to the blonde teen.

'The panda please'.

Applejack smiled and nodded. Looking at the man she said, "the panda please".

The man smiled and got the panda. Handing to her Applejack thanked him. The two walked away.

"Wanna go on a ride this time??", Applejack asked.

Rainbow looked at her and nodded slightly.

Applejack smiled. "Then let's go!!".

The two spent the whole day playing games and going on rides. Rainbow had a great time. They even shared cotton candy. Rainbow looked so adorable with her jacket sleeves up to her palms, hiding most of her hands.

Applejack smiled as she told her a story. Rainbow paid complete attention to her.

"And they fine. Just a but scared was all".

Rainbow looked surprised. 'Wow', she mouthed silently.

Applejack looked behind her.

"Hey, you wanna go on the Faris wheel??".

Rainbow shrugged and nodded. They got up. Rainbow held on to her arm as they walked along.

She had completely forgotten why she was sad in the first place. She was having such a great time.

The girls were greeted by a nice man. He let them on. They sat down. Rainbow held on to her stuffed animal with a good grip. The bar was pushed down. Rainbow and Applejack smiled at eachother. Soon they began to move.

Rainbow watched the view as they went higher and higher. They reached the top and it stopped. The view of the sunset was beautiful.

Rainbow sighed and leaned back. Suddenly her earlier thoughts returned. She buried her face into her panda, trying not to cry.

Leaning against the metal wall of the cart she didn't notice Applejack watching her with worry.

"What's wrong??".

Rainbow sighed and curled up a bit. She looked so depressed to Applejack.

"Not ta be nosy, but do you get like this alot??".

Rainbow shook her head.

Looking at her she mouthed, "every once in a while".

Applejack scooted over. She wrapped an an arm around Rainbow's waist. Rainbow immediately leaned on her, her head on her shoulder.

"It's okay Rainbow".

Applejack rubbed her arm.

"I've gotcha. I've gotcha".

Rainbow pulled away wiping tears away. She looked at her feet, hugging her panda again.

"Rainbow??".

Rainbow didn't look up. Applejack reached a hand out and raised Rainbow's head so their eyes met.

"What's wrong??".

Rainbow held out her hand. Applejack took out her phone and handed it to her, not once breaking eye contact.

Rainbow typed and then handed it to her.

'I've been depressed since I was small. Today was one of those days. I didn't feel like doing anything today but since your dad told me to clean for the guests, i had to. I've never told anybody this before, not that I would or could. I have depression'.

Applejack looked up at her sadly. She wrapped her arms sround her in a hug. Rainbow hugged back, burying her face in Applejack's shirt.

Applejack right then and there made it her mission to make the girl in her arms smile everyday. And then maybe find out the cause of this.

'Maybe it has ta do with her parents' death', she thought.

That didn't matter at the moment. What mattered was the girl in her arms.

Finally Rainbow pulled away.

"You okay now??".

Rainbow nodded. She looked really tired.

Suddenly the cart began to move. Rainbow and Applejack jumped in surprised.

They lowered on to the ground to a stop. Getting out they waved at the man. He smiled back at them.

"Wanna go home??", Applejack asked.

Rainbow nodded. The girls walked to the car and got in. As she drove Applejack noticed Rainbow had fallen asleep. Her arm was wrapped around her stuffed animal.

Applejack pulled up the large driveway into the garage. Getting out she went to the other side. Opening the door. She unbuckled Rainbow and lifted her out.

Rainbow was dead asleep in her arms. But she was as light as a feather. That didn't surprise Applejack since Rainbow was so small. Actually she hadn't realized how small she was until that moment.

Walking inside she was met with her dad.

"So how did it-".

He stopped mid-sentence when he saw Rainbow sleeping.

"So.... how did your date go??".

Applejack snickered.

"Shut up", she whispered. She smiled and then said, "It was fun. Ah learned a bit about Rainbow an she had ........ a weak moment. She wasn't feeling herself and depressed so ah decided ta take er' to the carnival. Took a while to get er' ta open up. But she did eventually. We had fun".

Her dad smiled. "I'm happy you did. I wish you took me with you. It was boring here with all those snobby rich folk here".

AJ smiled. "Ah bet. Goodnight".

She turned around.

"Hey AJ??".

She turned back around. Her dad looked at her confused.

"How can you have so much communication...... and she hasn't said a word to you??".

Applejack smiled softly and looked around the girl in her arms.

"Actions speak louder than words".

Her dad smiled. Saying goodnight they parted for the night. Applejack went to Rainbow's room. Keeping the door opened for the light she walked over to the bed.

Laying the girl down she took her shoes off. Pulling the blanket up she looked at her for a moment.

Rainbow began to shift. Her eyes fluttered open. Applejack smiled.

"Hey. You fell asleep in the car so ah just took you up here".

Rainbow smiled a bit. She motioned for Applejack come near. Applejack leaned down. Rainbow leaned up and kissed her cheek. Applejack was surprised. Looking at Rainbow she smiled.

Rainbow snuggled into the the sheets, falling asleep. Applejack just sat there. She smiled at the girl. Standing up she leaned over and kissed her forehead gently.

"Goodnight", she whispered. Backing away she turned and walked out. Closing the door behind her.

Walking into her room Applejack closed the door. Leaning against the wooden door she smiled.

"Ah guess actions do speak louder than words".
