Applejack sighed. She watched still water as she relaxed. She loved coming to the cove every once in a while. She felt drawn to it. It was called mermaid cove. There have been sightings of mermaids in the cove but AJ had never seen one so she wasn't so sure.

The blonde had closed her eyes for a just a moment. When she opened them her heart nearly stopped. There a few feet away were eyes looking up at her underwater. She blinked and whatever it was, was gone.

"What in equestria did ah just see??", she said outloud.

She got up and walked around trying to see if she could spot whatever it was she saw. Of coarse, she didnt.

"I probably just imagined that. There was nothing there", she told herself. She quickly grabbed her shoes, slippedbthe off and went home.

She stayed home throughout the while week. But those eyes, they wouldn't leave her mind.

So she decided to come back the next week. She forgotten all about what had happened.

Sitting down at the edge she she placed her barefoot into the water. Suddenly she heard a voice.

"Applejack!!".

She jumped and turned around. Her friends stood there.

"Ya'll nearly scared the death outta me", Applejack said.

Then girls walked over to her and sat down.

"So see anything??", Pinkie asked.

Applejack looked at her. "Like what??".

"Like a mermaid".

Applejack looked back at the water. "No. But I did see something".

The girls looked at her. "Really what??, Twilight asked. She was always fascinated with the tales of mermaids being in mermaid cove.

"I looked into the water and I saw eyes looking up at me from underwater. But then whatever it was was gone in the blink of an eye".

Applejack shrugged. "Musta been mah imagination".

She looked down at the water and froze.

"Uh guys. Don't make a sound", she whispered. The girls looked at her confused until they looked at the water. If they concentrated really hard they could see something. Or someone.

AJ stared down at the eyes. Those eyes. They were a beautiful shade of magenta. That's all they saw. Those eyes. But before they could do anything at all those eyes were gone. They saw a shadow move underwater.

They were silent for a moment.

"What was that???", Twilight asked.

Noone knew.

AJ looked at the girls.

"Let's go home".

The girls got up and grabbed their stuff and left.

"That was weird", Pinkie said.

They nodded. Way too weird.

The girls decided to go swimming the next day. Applejack hoped that whatever they saw would come back. She wanted to see those eyes again.

They arrived and looked around. Empty and still.

"LAST ONE IN IS A ROTTEN EGG!!".

Pinkie ran to the water's edge and jumped in. The girls laughed and jumped in after her. They stayed there, sunbathing, playing water tag, and just splashing around. They had so much fun.

Applejack splashed Twilight who giggled and splashed back.

The country girl turned around. She spotted Pinkie. The girl was looking at something.

Swimming over to her she asked, "What cha looking at??".

"Oh just that girl spying on us".

The girls a froze in place.

"Girl??".

They all swam over to Pinkie.

"What girl??", Rarity asked. "Where is she??".

Pinkie pointed at the water. Then girls quickly swam back over to shore. They ran to their backs and got their goggles. The carefully entered the water and dove under water. They looked around.

Applejack looked around. She saw nothing. She was about to go up to the serface when something caught her attention. At the very bottom of the pool of water, she saw someone peeking out from the seaweed that grew there.

Swimming up to the surface she took a deep breath.

"There's something down there", she announced. The girls gapsed.

"In the seaweed. I see something".

The girls all ducked underwater once more. Applejack looked at the seaweed. Those eyes still stared up at her. Suddenly something else caught their attention. A young girl swam in from a entrance underwater, but she didn't have legs, but a tail. The girl had short magenta hair, and orange skin. She looked pretty young.

The girl seemed to notice them and froze in fear.

"Scootaloo!!".

The girls turned and nearly gasped. Another girl bursted out of the seaweed. It.....was a mermiad. The mermiad swam towards the other mermaid.

Scootaloo was probably her name. The mermaid took her and pushed her out of sight. They both dissappeared out of sight.

Breaching the surface the girls gasped in air. They looked at eachother in shock.

"We just saw mermaids", Twilight beamed. She looked ready to burst into with joy.

"Come on".

They took a really deep breath and dove in deep. They looked at around. They spotted the mermaid looking up at them. She looked fascinated by them.

Applejack thought she was beautiful. She had Rainbow colored hair, light blue skin and a dark blue tail. But her eyes were what captivated Applejack. Those were the same eyes she saw before. The mermaid staring up at her was magenta eyes.

The girl looked at the for a while. She reached a hand up and waved. Applejack's eyes widened.

She returned the favor and waved back. The mermaid seemed to be thinking. Suddenly she turned around. She turned swam towards them.

"You gotta get out of here!!", she shouted. The took Applejack and Pinkie Pie and pued them to the surface.

Once breached the girl told them to swim for the shore.

"You gotta go now. Sharks entered the cove!!".

Panic took over and the girl started swimming for shore. They stopped when something swam in front of them. A fin came out of the water. A shark fin. They were frozen in fear.

Suddenly the mermaid got between them and the shark.

"Go I'll distract them!!".

The girls wasted no time and swam for their lives. They got to shore and climbed out. Standing on the stone they watched the mermaid dissappear underwater. A few minutes passed and she didn't come back up.

"Maybe she led them out", Twilight said.

Applejack was concerned.

"She saved us". They couldn't believe it. A mermaid saved them from sharks.

"Come on. I'm sure she's fine", Rarity said though she sounded unsure.

The group shakily grabbed their stuff and went home.

They didn't speak of what happened to anyone but eachother. The girls decided to try and see if they could spot the mermaid again. They had to thank her.

Everyday they went to the cove and waited for those magenta eyes to appear, but they didn't. The girls began to worry. Had something happened to her??. Had the sharks hurt her?? Killed her??.

"I don't think she's coming guys", Twilight sighed.

The girls sat at the water's edge, bathing suites on but none dared to enter.

"Well I'm not going to check. Unless she is in thinkhere with us, I'm not goin in", Applejack stated.

"Me neither", Rarity agreed. "I just hope she's alright. I can only imagine what the poor dear went through".

Suddenly Applejack shushed them. Magenta eyes stared up at her.

"She's back".

The girls looked at the water. The girl dissappeared. Applejack followed her shadow. The shadow went behind a large rock in the middle of the cove.

They almost didn't see a head peaking out from behind it. The girls got int ok the water and put on their goggles. They dunked under and looked.

There was someone peaking out at them. They saw her. The mermaid that saved them. The mermaid looked a bit scared. The girls looked at eachother thinking the same thing. They had to make the girl see they weren't dangerous or going to hurt her.

Surfacing they talked.

"She's afraid. I don't blame her", Rarity said.

"The poor dear was probably by the sharks".

The 5 turned and looked at the rocked. They saw the mermaid just barely from the side of the rock.

Applejack turned to her.

"Hey", she called not too loud.

"We won't hurt cha. Promise. Why are you spying on us??".

The girl dissappeared under.

Applejack sighed.

"She's gone".

Suddenly she spotted a shadow. The mermaid was close by.

"She's trying to get closer without us noticing", she told the girls.

"Let's all just relax and just play it cool and let her watch us", Twilight suggested.

They thought it was a good idea. So they just continued doing whatever they would normally did. Rarity sunbathed, her sunglasses on and a magazine in her hand.

Fluttershy and Twilight sat calmly by the edge with some books and watched Applejack and Pinkie swim around laughing.

"Marco!!", Pinkie laughed. Applejack blindly swam towards her voice.

"Polo!!". Suddenly she was grabbed.

Applejack opened her eyes. Pinkie laughed.

"Found ya", she giggled.

AJ laughed. "How do you-". She stopped suddenly. "Hey ain't I suppose to get YOU??".

Pinkie shrugged. "It's fun either way right??".

AJ nodded. "Alright, alright, you win I guess".

"Guys".

Everyone turned.

Twilight whispered, "Look over there".

The girls turned and gasped quietly. The mermaid was watching them from afar.

Being spotted see me to have spooked her and she dissappeared again.

"Awww".

The girls were disappointed that she had left so suddenly.

"She's beautiful", Applejack said.

"Someone's got got a crush", Rarity smirked.

A blush rose to the blonde's face.

"No, I just think she's beautiful is all".

Suddenly a gasp was heard. Turning they all froze. Twilight was fave to face with the girl. The mermaid seemed to be watching her in curiosity.

"Hi", Twilight whispered.

The girl lifted her head out of the water.

"Hi".

"You can speak??".

The mermaid nodded.

"Yup". The girls didn't know what t I say.

"Uh I'm Twilight Sparkle. That's Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack".

The girl looked all each of them.

"I'm Rainbow Dash".

Rainbow dash.

'What a beautiful name', Applejack thought.

"So, um you're a......mermaid".

The girls watched Rainbow.

AJ swam up to her.

"Hey uh, we want to thank you, for Savin us the other day".

"Oh that. Are you okay??", she asked.

The girls nodded. Rainbow let out a sigh of relief.

"That's good"

"Thank goodness you were there. What happened??. You dissapeared. We thought you..... died".

Rainbow smiled. "No, but I didn't get out uninjured".

She lifted her arm out of the water. The girls gasped. Rainbow had a green wrap around her upper arm.

"I kinda got bit".

Applejack cautiously swam up to her.

"Can I see??".

Rainbow looked into her eyes. She had a bit of doubt in her eyes. She hesitated before letting the blonde take her injured arm.

"Are you alright??", AJ asked.

Rainbow nodded. "Nothing a little bit of healing coral couldn't fix. Though I got lectured".

"By who??".

"My dad", a hand slapped her her mouth, eyes wide.

"I-I meant umm-". AJ placed a hand on her shoulder.

"It's okay. We won't say anything".

Rainbow looked ant her hand. She smiled at her.

"Thank you".

Looking at the girls she said, "I've never been up close to humans before".

She looked at Applejack.

"What are you??".

"What do you mean??", Applejack asked.

"Like royal, not royal, farmer, guard".

Applejack looked at her confused.

"We don't have any of those here".

"Oh". Rainbow looked away.

"How about you".

Rainbow looked up at her. "Princess, I guess".

The girls gasped. "You're a princess??!!", Rarity exclaimed. Rainbow nodded.

"Not exactly, but yeah". The girls frowned.

"What do you mean, not exactly??", Pinkie asked.

Rainbow looked around but didn't say anything.

"Okay. You don't have to answer. We just met you after all. Don't wanna intrude into your peronal life", Applejack said, giving the girls a look.

Rainbow smiled thankfully at her which she returned. Applejack felt butterflies in her stomach.

Rainbow looked away and blushed when Applejack smiled back.

"I have to go", she said suddenly.

The girls frowned.

"My "family" doesn't know I'm here. Not that they care, but I have to go home".

The girls were sad that she had to leave. Rainbow looked around. "I'll be back, promise", she said trying to lighten their mood.

"Yay!!", Pinkie cheered scaring Rainbow. The mermaid dove underwater. She stayed under.

"Pinkie!!", Applejack scolded.

She put her goggles on and dunked under.

She saw Rainbow looking up at them.

She gave her an apologetic look. Rainbow swam up to her.

"I'm alright. It's my first time being around humans. Just a bit jumpy I guess".

Rainbow smiled at her.

"You're pretty".

AJ blushed but signaled 'you too'.

"Umm bye".

Rainbow swished her tail and swam away, blushing.

The blonde watched her swim away. When she was gone Applejack surfaced the water.

"She left".

The girls got out of the water. "I hope we see her again", Applejack said.

"You have a crush on her", Pinkie sang.

The older girl blushed.

"Shut up".

She totally had a crush on her.

"I think she likes you too", Rarity said a smile on her face.

"Really??".

Rarity nodded.

"Trust me darling. I'm an expert when it comes to crushes".

AJ smiled inside. She hope she was right.
