Rainbow rolled the cart across the tile floor. She ignored the stares she recieved. The other students walked past her as they left the building. It was the end of the school day.

Rainbow was at her job. Though she was suppose to be in class she had to work. She was the janitor in the school.

Her family was poor and she had to get a job and drop out of school.

She passed by a group of girls. She didn't notice them looking at her. One of the adjusted her hat and followed her with her eyes.

"Gosh, why is she here??. It's the end of the week and she's never in class. She's always working".

"She needs the money", Twilight explained.

"I hear her family is like, almost dirt poor and she needed to drop out and get a full time job".

Applejack leaned against her locker. Holding her bag she looked at the floor.

"You've had a crush on her since like 7th grade. You should at least say hi to the dear", Rarity said.

"I think she likes you back".

Applejack looked up at her. "Really??".

The fashionista nodded. She flipped her hair over her shoulder.

"Go say hi. She's over there".

The group looked over and saw Rainbow mopping the floor. She was dancing while she did. It was after school and everyone had gone home except the girls.

AJ sighed and walked over to her.

Rainbow felt a tap on her shoulder and took her earphones out. She turned around and dropped her mop.

"Oh god".

Both girls kneeled to pick it up. Reaching for it they accidentally touched hands. Applejack pulled away and the two stood up blushing.

"Um hi", Applejack said awkwardly.

Rainbow stared at her dumbly. She couldn't believe it. Applejack was talking to her.

"Uh Rainbow??".

Applejack waved a hand in her face. She blinked in surprise.

"Oh um sorry. Hi".

"Seriously??. You're gunna go stupid NOW??", She thought.

"I just wanted to see how you were".

Rainbow smiled.

"I'm great", she said. "How are you??".

"Ahm good, thanks fir askin".

The girls suddenly heard a gasp.

They turned and saw Diamond Tiara and Silverspoon. They were "friends" of Applejack and her friends.

Diamond Tiara walked over to them and pulled Applejack away.

"Why are you standing with her??. She'll get you all dirty. Your clothes will be all dusty and have dirt on it".

Diamond gave a disgusted look at Rainbow. Applejack shrugged.

"I don't mind getting dirty. Clothes are just clothes. They aren't that important ta me".

Diamond and Silverspoon gasped at the statement.

"How could you say that??. Clothes are very important and SHE is an embarrassment to the fashion world", Diamond said pointing at Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow backed up a bit.

"Okay first of all. I have to wear this for my job. And second you don't even know me, so why are you talking about me and I'm right here".

Diamond looked at her, a disgusted look still plastered in her face.

"Why are you talking to me??. You're just a janitor, I'm rich and you're dirt poor and everyone knows it".

Applejack did not like this one bit.

"Okay, first off DON'T talk to her like that. You don't know what she's goin' through so butt out. An second, ya don't have ta talk back to her. You don't like her, stay away from her". Applejack got in between them. "In fact, I'm tellin you ta stay away from her. Cause if I see you messin with her again, I'm gunna report you fir bullying. And if you dare touch her in any way ta hurt her, I will personally beat you up".

Diamond stood there speechless.

"Why are you standing up for her?? A janitor, Applejack. A JANITOR. She's a poor pathetic excuse for a member of society. Canterlot is for the rich and wealthy people, not homeless people. Now let's go back to the girls and we can all go out for lunch and let this THING starve to death for all she deserves".

"NO".

The girls turned and saw Applejack's friends there. They heard the whole thing and was not about to let it go on any longer.

"I can't believe you would say such a thing", Rarity scoffed.

The girls walked over to Rainbow and clung to her protectively.

"Rainbow is not a thing. She has feelings too. She might not be wealthy like the rest of us but she is still a nice and caring person. We can tell".

Rainbow looked at the girls in shock.

"She is our new friend and you're not, so we would like it if you walk away and never talk to us again", Twilight said.

Diamond Tiara and Silverspoon looked shocked. They turned and began to walk away.

"Wait".

Diamond Tiara and Silverspoon stopped and turned around.

Rainbow took a breath and said, "I forgive you for what you said".

The girls were stunned.

Rainbow sighed. "Just thought you should know".

She took the cart and rolled it down to the end of the hall. She began to mop the floors. She looked up and saw Diamond Tiara and Silverspoon walk past her. She looked over at the girls.

The girls walked up to her.

"How??", Twilight asked.

"How what??", Rainbow asked in confusion.

"How can you forgive her so easily??".

Rainbow smiled. "It's just who I am".

"Oh, we forgot to introduce ourselves. I'm Twilight Sparkle. That's Rarity, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, and Applejack".

Applejack smiled. "Hey uh ya don't mind if we uh stick around and help out, do ya??".

Rainbow shook her head. "Nah, don't mind at all. But you could just relax. You guys have been sitting in chairs and learning all day. Must be tiring. What have you guys been learning now anyways??".

Twilight began to explain everything Rainbow would have been learning if she was still going to classes.

"Oh that seems important, but boring. Too bad I can't be in school. My parents can barely to keep me in school, let alone have food on out table".

The girls felt bad.

They spent a few hours cleaning b the school. Rainbow told them to go home when it was around 5. Reluctantly they did.

Rainbow sighed quietly. She was cleaning up some spilled drink in the middle of the hallway.

Suddenly she heard a voice.

"Hey Rainbow!!".

Rainbow Dash turned around and smiled. She saw Applejack walking towards her. She felt her heart beat faster when she saw Applejack. Little did she know that Applejack was feeling the same way.

The girls met up.

"Hey. So uh how was class??", Rainbow asked.

"Great. We didn't do anythin but watch movies", Applejack said.

Rainbow smiled.

"That sounds like fun. So uh why did you stay after school??".

Applejack smiled took her hand. Rainbow looked at her hand then at Applejack.

"So I can ask you out on a date".

Rainbow was shocked. "YOU wanna go out..... with ME??".

Applejack nodded.

"Why??".

"What do you mean why??".

Rainbow replied. "Well. I'm a janitor and you're rich. Not exactly the perfect match. I'm poor and you're nowhere near that. I have three jobs to work so I won't get to see you anyways if we do start dating".

"Woah, woah, woah. Three jobs??".

Rainbow nodded. "They're all low paying so I have to have more than 2 to get enough to get something to eat every now and then".

Applejack smiled.

"I still wanna date you. I don't care about our social pyramid status. I love you for you. Not any other reason. Plus, on a completely unrelated topic, I swear. I wanna help you, now that I know about your home life".

Rainbow raised an eyebrow. "You do??".

AJ nodded. "I'm not doin it because I feel sorry for you. I'm doin it because I can't stand to see you struggle everyday. Everyday when you would pass me and my friends in the hall, I can see the tiredness in your eyes. You always look so exhausted and sad. Those other girls dont exactly make it any easier on ya and I won't stand fir it if I can do somethin about it. Plus I like you. So what do ya say. Go out with me??".

Rainbow felt tears rise up. She smiled and hugged her. Applejack lifted her up.

Rainbow pulled away. "I can't wait to tell my parents. Now I have a girlfriend".

Suddenly she frowned. "But..... what will your parents say??. What if they, you know, want to meet me??. They probably won't like me. I'm just a janitor after all".

Applejack smiled and shook her head.

"You're more than just a janitor. You're a strong, brave girl who faces challenges an suffers everyday and is still goin and puts other before herself. They'll see that in ya an your heart. They'll love ya".

Rainbow smiled. "I'm so glad to have you as a girlfriend".

"I'm the lucky one Rainbow".

Applejack pulled her in for a hug. Rainbow hugged back.

"This is nice. Can't wait to see what else happens. After all, now I'm more than just all janitor. I'm the girlfriend of one of the most richest daughters in the world. That. Is. Awesome"
