Applejack sighed. She watched her best friend play basketball with some guys from the basketball team. Rainbow Dash. The school's best player at any "cool" sport, as Rainbow would call it. She was beautiful, sporty, hot tempered, sweet, shy and Applejack's four year old crush.

"Earth to Applejack!!".

Applejack jumped, her head snapping up. She turning she looked at her friends.

"Huh??".

Twilight rolled her eyes. "Oh please. You've been drooling over Rainbow Dash since the beginning of middle school. Just ask her out".

Applejack's eyes widened.

"Are you crazy??".

Rarity laughed. "No darling. She's telling you to stop being a scaredy cat and ask the dear out. She likes you, you know", she said grinning.

Applejack sighed and looked back at Rainbow. She sighed.

"What can ah say??. Ah'm a scaredy cat".

Applejack smiled as she watched the other teen. Maybe she should ask her out. She's had a crush on the girl for forever. Might as well go for it.

"This is nice", Rainbow smiled.

She looked around the trees. Applejack and Rainbow were taking a walk in the forest. The autumn leaves were beautiful that evening as they fell to the ground. Applejack couldn't help but smile. Everything was just perfect.

She turned her head and looked at Rainbow Dash. The girl was looking at everything in awe. She had a smile on her face, her eyes lit up with excitement. Applejack couldn't help but smile at the sight. Rainbow looked beautiful in the sunlight.

Applejack could feel her heart skip a beat when Rainbow looked at her.

"It's great to hang out with you for once", Rainbow said. "I ways liked being around you".

Rainbow's eyes widened. "N-not that I don't like the others. I-I just meant that I like you better. No wait. That's not what I meant".

Rainbow face palmed, blushing.

"I'm going to go stand over there for a minute".

Applejack laughed. She placed a hand on Rainbow's shoulder.

"Ah know what chu meant. You like spendin' time with me more than the others".

Rainbow nodded. "Yeah. That's what I meant".

She let out a breath. Applejack smiled. She thought is was cute when Rainbow tripped over her words like that.

"It's nice out today. A bit windy, but just perfect".

Rainbow nodded and looked around. The two kept walking through the forest. They came to an apple orchard.

"Oooh".

Rainbow looked around at the apples.

"Cool. Apple trees. I've never seen one before".

Applejack frowned. "You've never seen one before??".

Rainbow shook her head. "We don't have these back in Cloudsdale. We only have regular trees. I use to sit outside with my mom when I was little and we'd sit under a tree and she'd read to me a good adventure book".

Rainbow smiled. Applejack was worried the memory would make her upset her but Rainbow just smiled.

She looked around. She suddenly smiled. Looking at Rainbow, she asked, "Did you know that these are mah trees??. This is mah family's orchard".

Rainbow looked at her surprised.

"Really??".

Applejack nodded. "C'mon".

The blonde led her to a tree.

"Now. Ahm gunna show ya how ta applekick".

Rainbow was surprised.

"Uh okay".

Applejack had her stand beside her.

"Now. Ta applekick, ya gotta kick with the whole bottom of yir foot and hard enough. But ya gotta be careful. Otherwise you could tear or pull ah muscle. Let me show ya how it's done".

Rainbow stood back a foot or two. Applejack looked up then back down. She pulled up the sleeves on her sweater. Applejack picked her foot up and rested it on the bark. Then she stomped her foot against it. The tree shook and an apple fell. Catching it Applejack smiled and looked at Rainbow Dash.

"Now you try. It's alot harder than it looks so be careful".

Rainbow walked up beside her. She placed her hands on Rainbow's sides. She couldn't see Rainbow madly blushing.

"Turn this way so ya get a better angle", she said.

Applejack's hand were shaking a little from the contact. She put Rainbow in the right position.

"There ya go. Put chur foot on the tree".

Rainbow did as told. Applejack held her to balance her. She let go and stood in front of her smiling.

"Put your hands out an cup em".

Rainbow did as told. Applejack cupped her own hands with Rainbow's hands.

"And stomp on it hard".

Thump!.

Rainbow and Applejack caught the apple in their hands. Rainbow backed up a little, the apple in hand. She beamed.

"I did it!!", she cheered with joy.

Applejack laughed. "Ah knew you could", she said.

Rainbow smiled. She looked at the apple.

"My first apple from an apple tree. And I did it with you. You think my mom would have been proud??".

Applejack smiled. "You know ah do. She would have been very proud of you. Now, we eat. These apples can be eaten right of the trees, fresh".

Rainbow looked at her apple. She took a perfect bite.

The girls walked some more as they are their well earned apples. Rainbow was so happy, she had a bounce in her step. The pair suddenly noticed that it was getting dark.

"We better getcha home", Applejack said.

Rainbow nodded. She seemed to be what Applejack thought was...... disappointed. They turned and walked back the way they came.

Soon it had gotten dark and chilly. Rainbow's hair was blown, chills ran through her body as she shivered. The girl rubbed her arms trying to get warm. Suddenly she felt something dropped onto her shoulder. She looked at it. A jacket.

Looking up at Applejack she saw the blonde without her jacket on.

"You don't have to-"

"It's fine Rainbow", Applejack interrupted. "Ah don't want cha ta catch ah cold".

Rainbow smiled. "Thanks AJ. You're awesome".

The girls walked through the night, occasionally brushing arms. Finally, they got to Rainbow's small house. They walked up to the front porch.

Rainbow turned to Applejack, eyes sparkling.

"Thanks for the walk and the apple. This was amazing".

Applejack smiled. "No problem. Anytime".

Ask her out already.

Rainbow turned to the door.

"Wait".

Rainbow looked at her.

"Yeah??".

Applejack rubbed her neck nervously.
"You wanna do this again sometime??. Or go somewhere else like the park or the movies ir somethin??".

Rainbow smiled. "Are you asking me out on a date??".

Applejack gulped and nodded shyly.

Rainbow giggled. "I'd like that. So Friday night??".

Applejack's eyes widened. "Wait, really??".

Rainbow laughed. "Yeah. See ya Friday. Oh your jacket".

She went to take it off when Applejack stopped her.

"You keep it. Ah got plant more at home", she said smiling.

Rainbow smiled back. "Okay. Well, goodnight AJ".

"Goodnight".

Rainbow went inside closing the door.
Applejack smiled at me walked to the porch. She suddenly heard a noise. She peered intl the window. She saw Rainbow talking to a painting of her mom on the wall. Rainbow did that so she could at least feel like her mom was still around.

Rainbow looked so giddy, telling everything that had happen today. Applejack could hear the excitement in her voice. She saw Rainbow Dash hold up the apple cord in the air.

The teen blushed as she told her "mom" about Applejack asking her out. She was the happiest person on earth.

Applejack couldn't help but smile. She made Rainbow happy. Turning she walked out into the night. The chilly night bit at her skin, but she didn't notice. She was sky high. Just the thought of Rainbow Dash kept the cold away. Applejack was proud of herself. She got out of her phone. She texted Twilight.

Aj: Hey XD

Twilight: Why so happy??

Aj: I did it. I asked her out!!

Twilight: Finally!! Why did she say??.

Applejack felt butterflies in her stomach.

Aj: she said yes!! 

Applejack smiled. She kept walking, a smile on her face and skip to her step. She couldn't believe she did it.

"Ahm such uh scaredy cat", she laughed. "Why didn't ah ask sooner??".
