Rainbow walked down the halls of CHS. The teen was aware of the stares and mumurs. They were about her.

Can't they go one day without talking about me??

She sighed and continued. She walked over to her locker.

"Witches don't belong here".

They were referring to Rainbow's wings and hair.

Yup. Wings. She was born with them and now stuck with them. She always knew she was different, but she never thought people would treat her this way.

Rainbow turned and saw a group of girls. The girls turned their nose up at her and left.

Rainbow rolled her eyes.

Frou frou girls.

Rainbow closed her locker and walked into her homeroom. She sat in the back of the class. Every now and then a piece of paper would be thrown at her to try and get her to look up.

"Come on you stupid bell, ring already for Celestia sake", she thought.

Suddenly the bell rang, signaling them to their first class. Rainbow sighed and stood up.

"Let's see what will happen today".

Rainbow sat in the back of the class, staring at the girl in front of her. Applejack. One of the most popular girls in the whole school.

Rainbow has had a crush on her since 8th grade. She had never talked to her though but that didn't stop her from liking her.

"Alright class I want everyone to turned to the person behind the and pair up. You're going to talk about what you're reading and what it's about".

Rainbow mentally died inside. She had to talk to someone. Good grief.

Suddenly she stopped when Applejack turned around.

She stared at the girl in front of her. Her grassy green eyes, tan skin, freckled face.

"So, what cha reading??".

Rainbow was stunned for a moment but shook it off.

She looked down at the book in front of her.

"Oh.... Daring Do and the quest to find the griffon ruby".

Applejack smiled.

"Tell me about it".

Rainbow shyly began to explain what the book was about. As she talked she got more and more happy and excited.

"And now she has to find a way out before the sun rises. Or else the griffon's curse will be activated and Daring will doom".

Rainbow sighed.

"But that was probably boring for you.and I'll shut up now".

Rainbow clamped her mouth shut and looked at her hands, which were fiddling nervously.

"Actually I enjoyed hearing that".

Rainbow looked up at her shocked.

"You did??".

Applejack nodded. "Yup and I loved how you love to talk.about it".

Rainbow smiled at her. Suddenly Rainbow was hit with something on the side of the neck.

"Ow!!".

Bringing a hand up to her neck she turned and saw Sunset Shimmer smirking at her.

"Oops sorry, freak".

Applejack stood up.

"What did you just call her??".

Rainbow's eyes widened. What in equestria was she doing??

Rainbow stood up.

"Applejack, it's okay. Don't start something. It'll just make things worse".

Applejack looked at her. "Fine".

The two sat back down. Sunset Shimmer raised an eyebrow.

"Why are you talking to that thing??. She doesn't belong in out world so she shouldn't be contaminating you with her.... whatever it is".

Rainbow looked away.

Suddenly the bell rang. Rainbow waited for everyone else to leave. Applejack waited with her.

"You didn't have to do that", Rainbow stated.

The blonde looked at the girl.

"Coarse I did. You needed me and I was there".

Rainbow was surprised by that. Noone had ever stood up for her before.

The two walked out of the class and to their next.

They had most of the same classes so Rainbow finally had someone to talk to.

Finally it was their last class. Rainbow was beyond miserable. Things were thrown at her, people tripped her, pushed her.

Rainbow was ready to cry at any moment if one more thing was said to her. And the bad thing was, Applejack wasn't there.

Rainbow tucked her wings in tightly. Se did that whenever she was scared.

"Aww the little beast is getting upset", a boy teased.

Rainbow looked at her lap. She refused to look up.

"The freak can't take a little joke", she heard someone else say.

"Hey beast, do your parents even like you??".

That's all they called her. The beast. The freak.

"Hey freak. I think this school would be better if it was freak and beast free. The world would be better".

Rainbow looked up at whoever said that.

"Why do you do it??. Why do you hate me so much??. What have I done to you that you feel like you gave to make my life miserable??".

The girl smirked. "Nothing. I just don't like you and it's fun".

She was done. She grabbed her stuff and bag and ran out. Tears ran down her face. She ran down the hall stopped. Dropping to her knees she curled up in a ball, leaned.agaimst the wall, and cried.

She cried silently but she cried alright.

What did I don't deserve this??. Maybe it would be best if i-".

"Rainbow??".

Her train of thoughts were interupted.

She looked up. Applejack was running towards her.

The girl kneeled down in front of her.

"Rainbow, what's wrong??", she asked.

Rainbow wiped her tears away. "Nothing. Don't worry about it".

Applejack frowned. "Rainbow. Tell me what happened. We're they giving you a hard time in class??".

Rainbow shook her head. "Not just a hard time", she replied, her voice breaking. "It was hell".

Applejack couldn't believe it. Why would they hurt someone as beautiful and caring as Rainbow??.

Applejack had a crush on Rainbow. She had never talked to her until that day. She knew what the girl was going through but didn't know it was THIS bad.

"I'm not a freak", Rainbow sighed sadly. "Just different".

Applejack nodded her head. "That's right. You're not a freak, just different. But you know what??".

"What??", Rainbow asked.

"I like different". Applejack leaned in and kissed Rainbow on the cheek.

Rainbow was stunned.

"I noticed how you look at me sometimes. I like ya too".

Rainbow blushed a crimson red. "You do??".

The country girl nodded.

"Now come on. Let's skip and go to the park or something".

Rainbow smiled and stood up. The two walked down the hall, hand in hand.

Rainbow wasn't a freak, just different. And look what that got her. Love.
