Applejack laughed. She and her friends were at the school's valentine's day dance in school. None of them had dates so they went together. Of coarse guys had their eyes on them but they didn't give them a second glance. The girls just enjoyed themselves.

"Hey Applejack", Pinkie said. "Why don't we go find someone to dance with us??".

It wasn't a bad idea at all. So the girls walked around trying to find partners to dance with. They headed to the back where the tables were. Applejack stopped in her tracks. There sitting on one of the tables, was Rainbow Dash. She was wearing a rainbow colored one shouldered knee-length dress with red shoes, her long hair let down. She was beautiful. AJ watched her, her face in a notebook, probably writing something.

"Go talk to her". Applejack turned to her right. Rarity stood there, smiling at her. Applejack looked back at Rainbow. She took a breath.

"Okay".

Rarity handed her a mint. "Just in case".

Rolling her eyes, Applejack popped the mint in her mouth. She walked over to the table.

Rainbow was nervous. She never liked being around people, for obvious reasons. She was a loner in the school and didn't talk much to people. She smiled as her imagination was set free on the paper.

"Um Rainbow??". She looked up and froze. Applejack stood there.

"Hi". Rainbow watched her sit down. "How's it goin? ?".

"I'm.... nice- I mean weird- NO I MEAN......good". Rainbow sighed.

"I'm good. You??"

"Good", AJ smiled. She found Rainbow's uncertainty cute.

Applejack looked back at her friends. The girls were standing there smiling at her. She turned back to see Rainbow playing with her elbow - length fingerless gloves.

"So, what's new??".

Rainbow shrugged. "Got tripped down the stairs by Diamond Tiara. Other than that nothing".

AJ'S eyes widened.

"What?? Why did she do that??".

"I'm not you. Not everyone respects me and I'm not popular or sociable or outgoing".

Applejack took her hand. Rainbow's eyes widened, a blushed crept on her face.

"Ya don't deserve that". Rainbow shrugged.

"It's better than home. You get use to it, plus you've got friends to look out for you. I'm not that lucky". She sighed.

Suddenly the music slowed down to a slow song. AJ bit her lip. She noticed Rainbow staring at something, a dreamy look in her eyes. Turning around she saw a couple sitting at a table across the room. The girl had her head resting on the guy's shoulder.

"Ever wonder if someone likes you??". Suddenly Rainbow's eyes widened.

"I mean not that someone wouldn't like you. You're beautiful- I mean pretty. You're you so that was a stupid question, cause I like you so-". Her hands flew to her mouth.

"Oh Celestia, uhh I uh....".

Applejack reached across the table a put a finger on her lips.

"You wanna dance??". Rainbow was quiet for a moment.

"Okay".

AJ smiled and stood up, Rainbow followed. They walked to the dance floor. The blonde turned to Rainbow. She took her arms and placed them around her neck. She could tell Rainbow was nervous. Applejack placed her hands on Rainbow's waist. They began to sway to the music. Rainbow relaxed after a minute or two and smiled.

"You're pretty good at this", Applejack complimented.

"Thanks". Rainbow smiled a bit.

The two looked at eachother. Applejack leaned in and kissed Rainbow on the lips. She pulled away and smiled.

"Would like to-".

"Yes".

Applejack smiled. Rainbow had a huge smile on her face.

"You didn't have to ask. Yes, I'll go out with you".

Applejack took her hand and led her back to the table.

"Would ya like some punch??", Applejack asked. Rainbow nodded her head.

"Sit here, be right back".

Applejack walked away. Rainbow looked down at her notebook she had forgotten was there. She panicked for a moment and flipped through it to see if all her stories were still there. They were.

"Hey Rainbow loser". Rainbow was suddenly yanked back. She fell onto the floor. Laughter was heard. Sitting up Rainbow saw Diamond Tiara, Silverspoon, and Babsseed.

"What are you doing here??. Losers like you don't belong here".

Rainbow stood up and began to walk away.

Babsseed grabbed her and spun her around.

"What's the matter??. Ya scared??".

The three bullies smirked. They backed Rainbow into a corner. Rainbow held her notebook to her chest.

"Hey Diamond!!".

The girls turned at the voice. Rainbow made a decision to bolt. She thought she could get away but she was tripped onto the floor.

"Not so fast".

Rainbow was yanked up to her feet. Diamond pushed her making her step back.

"Leave her alone!!".

They turned and saw Applejack. She was accompanied by her friends.

"Leave her alone", Applejack warned.

Diamond Tiara looked at Rainbow with a glare and shoved her onto the floor. They walked away.

Rainbow looked up at the 5 girls.

They hurried over to her. Applejack kneeled. "Did they hurt cha??".

"No, I'm okay".

Helping her up, AJ fumed.

"If ah had been earlier I woulda had em on the floor in 10 seconds".

Rainbow laughed.

"I'm fine. You don't have to worry, plus you get use to it".

Applejack relaxed.

"You sure??". Rainbow nodded. She took the blonde's hand.

"Come on guys, let's go dance", Pinkie beamed. The girls headed to the dance floor.

About 10 minutes later Applejack couldn't find Rainbow Dash.

Turning to Twilight she shouted, "WHERE'S RAINBOW??!!".

"I THINK I SAW HER HEAD TO THE TABLES A FEW MINUTES AGO!!".

AJ thanked her and headed out of the crowd.

Sure enough Rainbow was sitting back at her table. The girls found eachother and walked over to her.

"Rainbow??".

Rainbow looked up at them.

"Oh hey".

"What are you doing over here by yourself darling??", Rarity asked. She sat beside Rainbow, crossing her legs.

"Parties aren't exactly my thing. I don't exactly fit in here. Plus I'm okay with being alone, it's quiet", Rainbow explained.

The girls watched her stand. "I should go. Have fun". She kissed Applejack on the cheek and walked away.

"Wait!!". Rainbow turned around.

"We'll come with ya". The girls walked up to Rainbow. "You sure?? I don't wanna ruin your night".

They nodded. Applejack took Rainbow's hand. "Let's go".

The six girls walked out of the building and down the street.

"So where should we go??". Rainbow suddenly yawned. Looking at the time Twilight saw it was 10:25pm.

"It's late", she said.

Rainbow snuggled up to Applejack, leaning her head on her shoulder. She sighed. Applejack smiled at her. Rainbow looked at the time. "Hey I gotta get home. I'll see you all tomorrow". Rainbow began to walk away. She began to run half way down the street. When she was out of sight, the girls headed to Rarity's car. They got in and drove down the street to Twilight's house. They got out. Applejack spotted someone running down the street. It was Rainbow Dash. "Rainbow!!", she shouted. Rainbow almost ran past them but stopped. She was our of breath. "Hey guys". "Where do you live??", Applejack asked.

Rainbow replied, "On cove Avenue".

Applejack's eyes widened. "That's on the other side of town". Rainbow nodded.

"Yeah. And to say the truth. I was forced to come to the dance by my sisters. I didn't want to go, but I don't want to go home".

"Why??".

"My sisters will probably come home drunk. They're abusive when they're drunk......just like any other time".

The girls looked at eachother in worry.

"Abusive??. They beat cha??", AJ asked. The thought of someone hurting Rainbow made her heart break.

Rainbow nodded. "But it's okay. I should probably go now and get it over with", she sighed.

She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. AJ looked around. It was dark and Rainbow had to go through the whole town. "I can take you to my house", Applejack said.

"You sure??. I don't think that's a good idea. I can go home".

Applejack shook her head.

"That ain't a good idea. Come on ah have my car". Rainbow smiled.

"Alright".

The girls said goodbye to Rainbow and went inside. The two climbed into Applejack's car.

The drive was quiet. About an hour later they pulled into the driveway. Applejack's house was nice.

"Cool house". Rainbow got out and walked to the front door, Applejack beside her. The blonde unlocked the door and they went in.

Looking around, the house was warm and pretty cozy".

"Wish my room was like this".

"What's it like in your house??", Applejack asked.

"Another time. I'm tired".

Rainbow yawned on cue. Applejack laughed and led her upstairs. She lent Rainbow a pair of pyjamas. They went downstairs to the living room. Applejack started the fireplace. The flames cracked and popped. The couple settled on the soft sofa in front of the fireplace, a blanket around them.

"This is nice. Nice to be with someone for a change instead of alone", Rainbow said. She leaned on the taller girl's shoulder. Applejack smiled at her. She kissed her head.

"Happy Valentine's Day Rainbow", she whispered.

"Happy Valentine's Day".
