Rainbow's POV:

I walk down the hall listening to bits and pieces of conversation.

"I'm so excited".

"A ball in the palace".

Suddenly a voice came on the intercom. I stop and listen.

"Good morning everyone. Now I know that most of you know about the royal ball coming up.The king of Everyone in equestria can attend. Letters will be sent home. Thank you".

A ball??. That sounds like fun. I walk into class as the bell rung. Sitting down I slung my backpack off and got ready for class.

All through the day I kept thinking about the gala. Maybe my aunt would let me go. Maybe.

Finally school was over and we were home free for spring break. The other teens were so excited. Me, not so much. More time at home means more work to do.

I have enough chores to do as it is. I walked down the sidewalk. It was a long walk home and by the looks of it, it was gunna rain.

"Just perfect".

It was pouring and thundering. Just great. Maybe the lightening will strike me and I get to stay in the hospital for a few days and not at home.

I'll take a bullet so I wouldn't have to be home with those frou frou lazy spoiled brats I call sisters.

Sighing I wrap my soaked arms around myself. I shivered as the wind picked up.

I ran down the street. I finally made it home. Unlocking the door I sighed in relief. I made it in one piece.

Walking in I look around.

"Finally you're home".

I look up and see Aunt Lucille at the top of the stairs.

I walk up upto her. "I have news that you probably already know".

I open my backpack and take out the letter. It was ripped out of my hands.

Adagio held it. "Let me see that. I didn't get one cause there wasn't enough for our class".

She opened the letter and handed it to Aunt Lucille. She read the letter outloud.

"Dear CHS student. We are to formally invite you to the Grand Gala hosted by the king. His royal highness is looking for a bride".

Aunt Lucille looked at my sisters. "This is your chance girls. The moment you've been waiting for".

The girls squealed my eardrums off. I had to plug my ears with my finger because it was so high pitched.

"Raincloud. I want you to into town and order 3 silk lace dresses. The best kind of fabric they have".

"But I have to do my chores", I said looking for an excuse to not go back into the rain.

"Go. You have to before the dress shop is drowning with work. Look for Rarity. She is only one I trust to male my girls' dresses look divine".

I looked at the floor, my hands twindling.

"Umm I was kinda wondering-".

"That you could go??", Adagio cut me off.

I look up at her.

"Um yes".

She laughed in my face. I knew it was pointless to have asked.

"HA!! Like we would want to be seen with you at the ball. The princess would laugh at you".

Aunt Lucille shooed me out the door. I sigh and begin to walk to the dress shop.

When I got there I was so happy to get out of the rain.

Walking in I see that it's full of girls. Eww. I hate shopping but I'm forced to do it whenever my sisters and aunt are too lazy to do it themselves.

I take a deep breath and walk up to the counter. A girl with purple hair stood there. She looked like a perfect fashionista. She was polishing some jewelry.

I walk up to her. "Excuse me??".

She looked at me and smiled. "Hello dear. How can I help you??".

I told her the order I was told and she nodded.

"Of coarse dear. How about for yourself??".

I looked at her for a moment.

I laugh. "I'm sorry. I'm confused. What exactly are you asking me??".

Rarity frowned. "Aren't you in need of a dress for the ball??".

"Ohhhh no. I'm not allowed to go".

Rarity's eyes went wide. Must've been a shocker or something.

"Why not, if you don't mind me asking??".

"My family doesn't want me to. Balls aren't my thing anyways".

I smile at her. She looked a but troubled by what I just told her. I waved Mt hand in front of her face snapping her out of her daze.

"Oh sorry, I just...... can't believe the princess will miss out on meeting such a beautiful girl such as yourself".

I smile. "Thank you".

"You're welcome darling. Now can you show me a picture of the girls I'll be making the dress for??, and maybe a phone number to call when they're finished".

I took out a picture I always kept in my pocket. I showed it to her. I also grabbed a pen and piece of paper and wrote down Aunt Lucille's number.

"They want the 'best fabric they have' ", I said imatating their voices. Not in a rude way but in a.... well, imatating way.

Rarity nodded.

"Tell me darling, what do they call you by??", she asked picking out some fabric.

"Doesn't matter what they call me", I say with a shrug.

She turned around and looked at me with a frown.

"They're not very fond of you, I'm guessing".

I sigh. "They treat me as best they can".

"Oh. I'm sorry".

She stands next to me.

"It's not your fault", I say looking at her.

"Neither your fault. You're the nicest person I know".

I smile. "Well you're very snazzy lookin".

Rarity laughed. I look out at the storm outside.

"Well I should get going".

"Well I hope to see you again".

I wave as I walk out the door. I wa soaked in seconds. I smile to myself.

"Wait!!".

I turn around and see Rarity at the door way. I walk over to her.

"Yeah??".

She hands me an umbrella.

"I didn't notice you had nothing on you when you walked in. Don't want you to get more such then you'll probably get".

"Thanks, that's very sweet of you", I say taking it and opening it.

"You know, you're my first friend ever".

Rarity's eyes widened. "Really??".

I nod.

"Well then I'm honored to be your friend. I like you".

She giggled. "I can tell you'll be a star one day", she said with a smile.

She sounded so sure of herself.

I smile and said bye. She waved.

I walk down the street, more happy than I've been all week.

I have a real friend.
