"This time it was for real. We can officially tease you about the date you went on with that cute blond you can't seem to shut up about." Calum smugly smiled, elbowing me in the side and making me wince and rub at the spot that'll most likely be a bruise tomorrow. Matthew nodded his head in agreement to Calum's words.

The three of us were out on a lunch break and my two best friends couldn't seem to get enough about the fact that I went on a date four days ago. Luke seems to have gotten the hang of texting on his iphone and he'll send me cute selfies and messages in the morning to wake up to. It felt oddly refreshing and cliché at the same time, but I liked it. Although nothing is set in stone between us, I wouldn't mind being more after we get to know one another better, if that's something he'd actually want.

"Your teasing doesn't bother me anymore," I laughed halfheartedly. We sat down at a table in the mall food court not really in the mood to eat anything, but enjoying the short break away from work we have. "Besides, it's only been one date. Even though it went well he could still find someone much better than me."

Calum slammed his hands down onto the table, a look of shock crossing his features. "Excuse me? No, no, no. There is no one better than you–except maybe me–but that's not the point. Luke would be so incredibly lucky to date you or even be your boyfriend, why can't you see that?"

"He's really delicate and lovely, Luke deserves the most amazing person in the world and is it wrong of me to think I'm not that person? If I truly liked him shouldn't I want what's best for him? Because I can't be that. I dropped out of school and I have a shitty apartment and a job with a terrible income..." I sighed, rubbing my face in frustration. I was getting worked up over everything and I know my friends can see it.

"Michael..." Calum said softly, "None of that matters right now. Luke likes you a lot. You have to know that much by now."

"I'm positive he's just lying about his phone now so he has an excuse to visit you at work." Matthew chimed in, a glint in his eyes. I let out a small chuckle at his accusation. I doubted Luke was doing that now, he seemed so incredibly clueless about it all there was no way.

"I don't believe that. I know him better than you two and he really doesn't know much about his phone."

"Sure, whatever you say lover boy." Calum said. I watched as he leaned back in his chair to survey the food court, probably looking for someone to hit on or ask for their number even when he doesn't call them back.

"You just know I'm right." I shrugged, I pulled out my phone to text Luke. Maybe he'll agree to go on another date. I typed out a short message requesting his presence for a movie and mini golf. It took him longer than usual to reply, but nevertheless he said of course with several emojis added to the end. I realized showing him that option was a mistake because it's all he'd send anymore. I smiled down at my phone, looking through the earlier messages. I couldn't get enough of this boy, even though I knew I would never amount to what he deserves.

"Look, Michael is clearly texting his little blond twink." Matthew joked along with Calum, but I heard them.

"Shut the fuck up." I grumbled, "Let's get back to work before Abby loses her mind." I sent Luke a text telling him I'd pick him up later and that I was going back to work. Luke sent me a selfie of him pouting making my stomach do flips at the sight. I was in way too deep already.
