"Luke?" I asked, watching him turn around with confusion crossing his features until he recognized me. A small smile spread across his face as he waved shyly in my direction. "What are you doing here?"
"I'm seeing a movie with my friend," Luke mumbled, taking out his phone and swiping across his screen until he found his messages. I grinned as I watched him try to figure it out. He was so easily confused, but watching his nose crinkle as he got frustrated was too cute not to see. "Finally," he muttered to himself as he seemed to have finally found the correct app. "My friend just said he should be here any moment."
"Cool," I said, trying to scavenge some topic to talk about so we wouldn't stand there awkwardly. I was not waiting for anyone, but I felt the need to talk with Luke. I wanted to ask about his day or something related to his everyday life, but I was simply the guy who helped him with his phone. There was no bond between us. "Well," I pointed to the entrance to the selection of theaters. "I'm gonna get going to my movie..."
"Wait! What movie are you seeing?" Luke asked, looking at me with his bright blue eyes that always seemed to capture and lure you in. But, again, I'm just the phone guy.
"Um, Pitch Perfect 2." I mumbled, a slight blush rising to my cheeks. Those movies were a guilty pleasure of mine that Calum never seemed to understand.
Luke's eyes seemed to have doubled in size. A smiling etched perfectly on his face. It practically lit up the whole room around us, or at least it seemed too for me. "Really? That's what we're seeing! Do you want to wait with me and you, me, and my friend can sit together?" Luke giggled, talking rather fast but I understand most of what he was saying.
"Yeah, I don't see why not." I shrugged, shoving my hands in my pockets. Luke radiated with happiness after I agreed to sit with him. It was something small, but I could tell it made his day.
"Ashton!" Luke excitedly exclaimed, sicking his arm in the air to frantically wave his friend over towards them. As Luke's friend walked closer I rolled my eyes as I recognized who he was.
"I should've known."
Ashton's eyes widened when he saw me standing next to Luke. "I didn't know he would be joining us today." He scoffed, looking away from me and towards his blond friend. "How do you even know him?"
Luke looked between us, seeing our not-so-subtle glares thrown at one another. "How do you two know each other?" Luke answered Ashton's question with his own.
"Rivals," I laughed, still not understanding how Ashton could dislike me for working for a different company, but we have had our differences and I played along. "He sells for Samsung and I sell for Apple." Then I laughed again in realization. "Now I understand why you won't help Luke with his phone," I shook my head in disbelief, remembering the conversation Luke and I had about his best friend not even trying to help his understand his new phone. "You're bitter that your best friend didn't buy a phone from you and needs my help."
Luke watched the banter between his best friend and I, probably wondering if it was still a good idea to all sit next to one another for a movie. In the end he grabbed us both by the wrist and dragged us into the right theater and sat in-between us, separating us from our argument. Luke; the guy who's been nothing but adorable and shy the whole time I've known him had a smug smile on his face at his accomplishment at separating us!
The movie dragged on for a while longer, but the only thing I could think about halfway through was the fact that instead of cuddling up next to his best friend, Luke leaned in closer to me, speaking to me throughout and giggling at some of the funny parts. My heart was pounding in my chest and I couldn't help but lean in closer to him as well and watching him watch the movie in amazement.
Maybe Calum was right, maybe I was falling for the blond boy who didn't know how to use an iPhone.
