Three Hours Later

Casey- It felt longer leaving the city, then it did to reach city limits once more. I slowly weave through the mass destruction, getting us where we need to go safely.

James- Looking at how everything has changed in such a short period of time and if we do find a cure, it's going to take quite a bit of time to recover from this mess.

Bessy- "How much longer Casey?"

Casey- "Not long." Suddenly a small child appears in front of the van and I swerve, loosing control and flipping it.

Joe- I immediately check to see if Bessy and the kids are okay.

Bessy- (Smiles) "We are fine."

Casey- I check James. "Dude?"

James- "I'm good."

Brian- I check over Sal. "Sally?"

Sal- "Might have a broken wrist, but I'll survive."

Joey- (Rolls Eyes) "I'm fine, thanks for asking." I check on the girl making sure she is okay.

Casey- "Good news we are all alive, bad news we are going to have to go the rest of the way on foot."

Bessy- I think about that for a moment. "That's a great idea. We can each take turns, reversing the Virus and we can bring the survivors with us."

Joey- "I really don't think that's a good idea, I mean having this one is a bad idea."

Casey- "Actually the idea holds merit. What do you think Q?"

Brian- I pick up the book I had earlier, flipping through a few chapters. "I think it's one of the best ideas we've had yet."

James- "Sound plan, so who is turning the stray six-year-old who just tried to kill us?"

Joe- (Smirks) "I got this, cover me." Opening the back door, I hop out and slowly walk to the lone child. "Hey kiddo..." Kneeling down to his level, I hold my arm out towards him and he immediately latches on.

Sal- Brian and I cover Joe as he gets the child.

Joey- We all watch, practically holding our breath as Joe is bitten and the child is miraculously changed back.

Joe- (Smiles) I run my fingers through the dirty blonde curls. "What's your name buddy?"

Geo- "Geo Black."

Joe- Standing back up, I sit him on my hip. "Well Geo, I have a daughter the same age as you; her name is Miliana."

Geo- (Smiles)

Brian- We all climb out of the van and I untie the teen girl. "Never asked your name doll. What is it?"

Hayden- (Mutters) "Hayden Montgomery."

Sal- "Sorry, we tied you up."

Hayden- "Don't blame you, I was a monster...now that I'm not I will do anything to help you on your mission."

Bessy- "Thank you. Can you help watch the younger babies?"

Hayden- (Nods)

Bessy- I hand her Remington. "Lana stay with Hayden, do not leave her side. Geo same with you."

Miliana- "Yes mamma."

Geo- (Nods) "Yes."

Hayden- I hold the small toddler close and keep an eye on the two small children.

Joey- We grab the go-bags, food, our weapons and other essentials.

Casey- "Let's go it's gonna be dark soon, I'd prefer to be there and inside before dark."

Twenty Minutes Later

Joey- We don't even walk three blocks when we come across two undead. (Mutters Darkly) "Wouldn't it just be easier to..."

Casey- We are hiding in an alley. (Sighs)

Bessy- (Hisses) "No!"

Sal- We are all getting tired of hearing him go on about killing innocent people who can be cured.

Brian- I get out some duct tape and make quick work of binding his hands and mouth. "Now, shut the fuck up."

Joe- I was keeping watch. "Guys, we don't have time for this."

James- I share a look with Sal. "Our turn?"

Sal- (Nods) "Our turn." James and I leave the alley, going up to the two undead.

James- Offering our arms, we get bitten.

Sal- We watch in fascination as the two change back.

James- After getting bandaged up by Bessy, I pull out a note book. "Names?"

Declan- "Declan Smith."

Jacqueline- "Jacqueline Richards."

Bessy- I watch James add the names to the slowly growing list.

Brian- I hand the two new recruits weapons. "For your safety, until we get to where we are going."

Declan- "Just where are we going?"

Casey- "The place that started this all the underground Brooklyn Lab."

Jacqueline- We look at the group perplexed. "Why?"

Bessy- "To figure out what they were working on and to see if there is a cure, also to draw our blood and test it."

James- "For some reason we are immune and when bitten it reverses the effects of the Virus."

Declan- "Most Interesting, of course we will come with you."

Casey- Once more we head to what's left of the underground facility.
