Step Zero - The Plan
~Alastor~
Friendly chatter filled the foyer of the hotel and made Alastor's eye twitch. Lately, the inhabitants of the Hazbin Hotel got even more under Alastor's skin than usual. While he made his way down the hallway and in the direction of the noise, he calmed his emotions down.
Over the past months his "friends" had warmed him up a little. Something Alastor had actually welcomed. Even with his deal casting a dark shadow over the whole situation. But then the battle against Adam came and cleared his mind again. Even though he was powerful, he was still very much mortal and therefore had to be careful.
On top of that reminder, the people that called themselves his "friends" did not even care when he had vanished. Believing he was dead without looking to prove it. He had felt angry, and even worse, hurt. Even betrayed. He did not like how attached he had gotten and how easily especially the princess of hell had wormed herself in his dark heart.
He had used the past days to distance himself from the group again. To show everyone, himself included, who he was and that his presence was an honour and a privilege.
When Alastor had reached the foyer, he could see the others standing close by the door. With a sigh he used his powers to materialize between Charlie and her dad, ignoring the king of hell and looking at the princess with his signature smile.
"What is this all about? I could hear your chatter from the top of my tower.", he smiled and leaned on his microphone, glancing at Lucifer who rolled his eyes at him. Alastor's mood immediately got better.
"Alastor! Great news. Because of our first redeemed sinner, heaven is sending down an angel to watch over the redemption process!"
If Alastor had to describe how he felt, he would use the word flabbergasted. Heaven would send down an angel? To help with redeeming sinners?
He gripped his cane a little tighter and raised his eyebrows. "Is that so?"
"We just got the news. The angel will arrive in the next days.", Vaggie stated, straining a smile at her girlfriend.
"We need to make sure that the angel is feeling welcomed. This is big and—"
Alastor stopped listening and let the eyes of his shadow roam over the group. This turn of events left mixed emotions within the group, but he could see that everyone was ready to work together with this holy being.
Charlie interrupted his thoughts. She bumped her elbow in his chest, smiling up at him. He used all of his strength to not flinch. "Come on. We have work to do!"
He motioned the group to lead the way and shifted a little when no one was watching him anymore.

The days had passed fairly quickly, and the group stood outside the hotel waiting for the arrival of the angel. Over the days, there had arrived actually a few sinners that wanted to try redemption. The news of the first success had spread quickly through hell.
After a close inspection, Alastor and Lucifer had deemed them harmless and they were allowed to roam freely inside the hotel. Charlie had been ecstatic.
A portal opened up before the group and a woman stepped out. He had to look down to look at the angel. Her long blond hair fell in curls down her back. Her blue eyes searched the group and stopped at Charlie, who had already stepped forward and reached out to take the angel's hands.
While Charlie, excitedly, greeted the woman, Alastor continued to study her.
She wore a loose white dress that flowed around her, hid most details of her body shape, and made her look ridiculous. The style of angels was so unclassy, Alastor had to swallow a scoff.
But even with the clothes the woman was pretty and smiled nicely at the group. Only when the portal closed behind the angel, he realized that she hid her wings.
"Hi! I'm Charlie. I'm the owner of the hotel and I'm so happy you're here. You are going to love it and we will be best—"
"What Charlie wants to say is welcome to the Hazbin Hotel.", smiled Vaggie and pulled Charlie a little away from the angel.
The woman smiled softly and waved at the group. "Hello. My name is Arella. I was sent from the angel council to watch over the redemption process of your sinners."
Lucifer stepped forward and tilted his head in question. "Not help?"
If Arella was surprised over the king of hell being here, she did not show it. "Sadly, I was strictly forbidden to intervene with your work. Heaven believes that this project of yours can only continue if hell itself is working on the redemption without any outside help." When she saw how a few smiles fell she quickly continued: "But since you already succeeded once, I am positive that my help will not be needed."
Charlie's smile was back, and she turned slightly to point back at the others and Alastor. One after another, Charlie introduced them to Arella.
"And lastly, this is our executive producer—"
Alastor stepped forward and reached for the angel's hand. "Alastor. Pleasure to be meeting you.", he interrupted Charlie and kissed the back of Arella's hand.
The angel chuckled slightly and mouthed a hello. Alastor did not break the eye contact, smiling down at the new inhabitant.
Charlie pulled Arella away from him with a nervous chuckle and moved her to the hotel entrance. The others followed quickly, but not before Vaggie hissed at him to behave. He gifted her an innocent grin and followed the group.
Alastor watched as Charlie started to tour Arella around. There was a bubble of coziness and light around the angel as she glanced around and listened to the explanations, she got from everyone. Even Husk seemed to try to impress the holy woman.
He clicked his claws against his cane and a genuine smile spread over his face. He knew how he could entertain himself and get back at his "friends" without endangering his deal. He would take this bundle of sunshine and destroy it.
