Epilogue
Hey, everyone! Just so you know this is the last chapter for this story. I can't believe that it is finally over! Or is it?...
P. S. Check out @S-StarNix and her new story, "Amber & the Secrets Hidden in the Shadows'"
Previously:
Smoke poured out of Tartarus' eyes and mouth, trying to form next to him since it was thrown out of the primordial.
Before it could however, Percy waved his symbol of power in it and if fizzled into nothing with a hiss.
"Percy?" Tartarus asked hesitantly, as if unsure whether or not he had full control.
"Peace, brother," Percy smiled. "The spirit is no more."
Tartarus cried in relief and embraced Percy in a hug. "I'm so sorry, brother," he whispered, "for everything."
"It is okay," Percy said, patting his back soothingly.
"Now," the older brother said, pulling away and looking into Percy's eyes seriously. "What's this I hear about Smelly Gabe?"
☀️☀️☀️
The monsters had fled when they realized that their leader was not on their side, they panicked and ran.
They did not lose as many as Percy thought they would, as soon as they realized they won, the demigods had another bust of energy. Allowing them to defeat the monsters within their immediate vicinity.
The gods took some convincing that Tartarus was actually good and was not the one trying to destroy them but Percy managed to convinced them. Zeus was the hardest, he kept eyeing Tartarus suspiciously and only stopped when Hera whacked him on the head for staring.
Turns out, the spirit sensed Tartarus' sadness about their father sending Percy away. He had loved Percy as a baby and being the oldest, became very protective of him for the short time he had with Percy. Once gone, Tartarus hid himself in a hole, literally and figuratively and wallowed in self pity. Mourning the fact that he had lost the unconditional love of a baby brother. When Percy had somehow ended up in the pit he had retreated to, Tartarus began to stir. But so did the spirit that clung onto his despair.
The spirit had been whispering small lies that grew with each lie until it had enough power to take control. Tartarus had enough time before the spirit took over to help a little in Percy getting out of the pit. When Percy had told him about Smelly Gabe, he was able to ignore the spirit and wrestle out of its control long enough for his magic and his body to work together to dispel the spirit.
Speaking of which, Tartarus forced Percy to tell him everything about his time with Smelly Gabe and then he made some arrangements with Hades to send the soul of Gabe Ugliano to the pit of Tartarus and throw him in. Then, once he hit the bottom, where Tartarus' serpents were waiting, he would then be taken to Tartarus' personal torture chambers.
When asked why Gabe was not in the Fields of Punishment, Hades replied with a pointed look in Percy's direction and, "I did not know of his abominations and he went straight for the line to the Fields of Asphodel." To which Tartarus responded with a stern scolding about with holding information like that.
With the war over, the gods and the campers were celebrating and that means Luke and Leo were on a sugar high. Tartarus would have joined them had Percy not dragged him away from the snack table and to the Hero's Grove to get away from the chaos happening near the campfire. Percy lay next to his brother with his head resting on the back of his trusted friend, Vindex. The stars and the moon lit the night sky brilliantly, mesmerizing Percy and turning his thoughts to Bob and Damaeson.
"Tartarus, what happened to Bob and Damaeson?" He asked.
"They are reforming painlessly and almost completely reformed too," Percy could hear the smile in his brother's voice. "Soon they will be able to leave my domain."
"You'd let them do that?" Percy asked, coming up on his elbow.
"It is what I have always been doing until the confounded spirit took over," Tartarus replied, doing the same.
Percy nodded thoughtfully. "What are you going to do now?" He asked. "If you do not tell Dad soon, you are going to get a major scolding." Percy smirked.
Tartarus smirked back and fell silent. Percy thought back to when he used to be afraid of Tartarus. A few minutes alone with his brother quickly dispelled that emotion. He felt as though he knew him his entire life.
They spent the rest of Percy's waking hours talking and getting to know each other. Around midnight, Percy fell asleep via pure exhaustion and he could vaguely remember Tartarus carrying him to his tent then plopping down on one of then arm chairs so he could sleep himself.
The next morning found Percy, Tartarus and Percy's Hunt packing up and getting ready to leave. Percy was shouting orders to the members of his Hunt and he had went earlier to check on Daniel. He was not fit for travel still but would fine soon. Until then, he would have to stay in Camp Half-Blood (something he was not at all excited about) along with the rest of the Beta group but Percy's elite group would be staying with them so they were not alone. The part of the Hunt that can't in via tents left the same way along with the Romans. Vindex was always by Percy's side, playing and sniffing at new scents.
When they were just about done, Aphrodite sauntered up to him, her heals clacking rhythmically. "You are leaving so soon?" she purred, "were you even going to say goodbye?"
Percy stared at her expressionless. He really hoped this was not going the way he thought it was going.
"I mean, you must be tired of being around the same people day after day..." Aphrodite trailed off, fluttering her eyes suggestively.
Oh, crumb nuggets, he thought. It is going exactly the way he thought. "No," he simply said before turning away to talk to his brother who was standing next to him. Vindex growled, his hackles rose and he got in a protective stance in front of Percy.
She did not get the hint.
"Percy, why don't you stay a little longer?" she purred again, "we can get to know each other a little better."
Before either Tartarus of Percy could say a thing, two arrows, one gold and one silver landed at Aphrodite's feet.
"Don't you even think about it, love goddess," Artemis growled as she stomped over, with Apollo right next to her. "I will not have you taint the only male I find even slightly decent."
Percy turned to Tartarus again. "Did you hear that?" He asked in a mock excited tone, "I am slightly decent!"
Tartarus' hand went up to hide a laugh while Apollo snickered openly, only to receive a whack on the head by Artemis.
"You are just jealous," Aphrodite sneered.
Artemis eyed Aphrodite head to toe. She was wearing a very revealing red dress, her heals were muddy from her walk over to Percy in the camp grounds and she had on really bright red lipstick that blinded Percy so much he had to avert his eyes. And that is saying something since he was living in Apollo's castle for a while.
"Of what?" Artemis retorted.
Aphrodite huffed and spun on her heal before storming off.
Percy bowed his head deeply. "Thank you, my lady," he said politely, "Tartarus here just does not know how to handle those sort of situations."
Tartarus punched Percy in the arm, laughing.
Artemis' lips twitched and almost grew into a smile. "Lord Ariston," she started, "Lady Hecate and an old man with a long beard are in the Big House, waiting to speak with you."
"Thank you agin, Lady Artemis," Percy said, smiling, "You can call me Percy."
The goddess of the wild nodded and left, probably to oversee her Hunt.
Percy turned back to Tartarus, who smiled and said, "Go, Percy, we'll speak later, but before you go," he paused and dug in a pocket for something, "this is for you." he said, holding out a gold coin. It was not a drachma, it looked different. "It is called a galleon and you might be needing it soon. Flip it, like the son of Jupiter's old weapon."
Percy flipped the strange coin and caught a...stick? He looked up at the taller primordial with a confused look.
Tartarus just laughed and pushed him towards the Big House. "It works like your 'Riptide', you cannot lose it, now go, brother," he said, still laughing. "I will see you later, if Father does not kill me first."
Percy laughed too and started for the Big House with Vindex on his heals. Things were starting to look brighter than they were before. He wondered what Hecate and that old man wanted.
Hey, so this is the end of "Apollo's Hunt". Crazy. Just so you all know, (and in case you did not figure it out) the next one is going to be a crossover with Harry Potter. I will try to have the first chapter of that up before the next week is over so be patient.
I love you, my fellow Wattpadians!
