Moment atop the bus

Error's P.O.V

Ah yes, the trip to the surviver camp has finally begun. And I'm beginning it with a nice view from on top the bus, watching the road ahead for zombies and other obstacles. The sun was behind us, in a just after sunrise position. It's light was comforting in the winter air. The trees were covered in snow, as well as everything else in view. There were a few birds singing a morning tune. Honestly, it's hard to find life other than birds. Anything on the ground that was unprotected by living humans and monsters were turned into zombies. And along with that, they're also dying out due to lack of food.

I have a feeling that even if humans and monsters do survive to the end of the zombie apocalypse, the ecosystem will have been completely destroyed. Nothing will be able to live out in the wild anymore because nothing is like what it used to be. I mean, that's probably what would've happened anyway. Humanity had no sympathy for the environment. They used to say that some beautiful creatures were going extinct due to habitat loss and global warming, but they don't do nothing to actually fix it. All that mattered to humans was money. Money, money money. Gee, there are better things to worry about in life then money.

But, I didn't really care. I'm not going to be alive long enough to see the end of the apocalypse, and I wasn't born before the apocalypse. No, I was born by different means. But enough of that, there's this nice view to be watching. I sighed, I do a great job at depressing myself. I heard the trapdoor that led back into the bus open behind me, from it came non other then Ink. He crawled onto the roof and closed the trapdoor before sitting down next to me.

"Hi." He greeted.

"Aren't you suppose to be taking care of your boyfriend or something?" I asked.

"Blue's not my boyfriend. We just care a lot about each other."

"Mhm."

I noticed that Ink had a sketchbook in his hands.

"Hey, isn't that FC's?" I asked.

"She gave it to me so I could draw something." Ink replied, taking out a pencil and begun sketching.

I watched as he drew. It was actually really good. Every detail, every shading, every bone- wait a minute...he's drawing me!

"What's wrong?" He asked, looking back up at me.

I blushed and looked away. "Nothing!"

Ink hummed in response and then went back to his sketch. I looked back at the sketch and continued to watch. It was me, standing in front of the mansion with Dream, Nightmare, Lust, FC, Buddy and Chip. It was just us, all smiling together. The mansion looked as grand as ever, the sky was clear with the sun shining down at us. It was like a scene from before the apocalypse. We look...so happy.

"Hey, that's actually pretty good." I commented.

"Why thank you." Ink replied, smiling at me.

"How did you get to be so good at drawing?"

"Well, in my spare time at the training camp, I would practice drawing with whatever I could find. Not many people knew about it, though."

I nodded in response.

"So what about you?" Ink asked.

"What do you mean?"

"What did you do growing up?"

I looked down slightly. "It...it doesn't really matter." I claimed.

"Aw come on. I won't tell anyone."

I sighed. "You're gonna keep pestering me until I tell you, aren't you?"

"Yep!"

I shook my head and looked up at the road again. A chill from the winter cold went down my spine.

"I was born in a lab as an experiment." I said.

Ink's eye sockets widened. "Really?"

"Yep. As a glitch, I was a fascinating thing to the scientists there. It meant I was immune to the zombie infection. They tried all kinds of things on me. Gave me these tear marks to help fight against enemies." I pointed at the blue tear marks on my face. "But everything they did was painful. They would put me up against mutant zombies, hand picked from no man's land, no weapons, no nothing. Always bitten, but never infected."

"Oh...I'm so sorry..." Ink looked down, ashamed for asking such a personal question.

"Nah, it's fine." I claimed. "Being curious is a way of life, I suppose. Anyway, I was fortunately found by FC and her gang when I was about thirteen. You see, Sci goes around places and acts as a scientist or a doctor. He'll gain everyone's trust, gain the trust of the one he and FC were planning to save, then come and rescue them. Works every time. I owed em my life, so I decided to join em in helping other people get to survival camps."

Ink looked back up. "So...we're not the first?"

"Well...kinda. You see, the survival camps in the area that were easily accessible have reached their limit in population. So, we have to take you guys to somewhere we've never been before. We're going on a path full of mystery."

"Well, I'm sure we can get through it!"

I looked back up at ink. He smiled back at me.

"You know what? You've inspired me! I'm gonna do whatever I can to help people too!" He said.

I blushed a little. "I inspired you?"

Ink nodded.

I chuckled. "Heh, usually the only thing I'm good at is blowing stuff up."

"I'm sure that's not true!"

"What do you suggest then?"

Ink thought for a moment, then had an idea.

"Why don't you try knitting?"

"Knitting? With what?"

"Why, your strings of course!"

"Uh...well that would would i use to knit with then?"

Ink's smile became wider. He pulled a small flask of black paint off his sash and opened it. The paint reacted almost instantly, flowing out of the flask, unaffected by gravity. Ink shaped it into two knitting needles, like he'd done it a thousand times before. Then, he handed them to me.

"Here you go!" He said cheerfully.

I stared at him in disbelief. "How...how did you do that?"

"Mmmmagic!" Ink said, doing jazz hands.

I laughed. "Alright. But now what? I don't know how to knit."

"I think Blueberry can teach you when he wakes up."

"Uh-huh."

Ink lay back against the bus roof, looking up at the partly cloudy sky. Man, I can't help but smile at how positive Ink is. He's just so...well...cute. I didn't notice that I had subconsciously placed my hand on Ink's. When I did notice, I was a blushing mess, but I didn't move it. Ink didn't seem to mind, in fact, he held it. Heh, the snow looks a whole lot more beautiful when you have someone to admire it with.
