Half-Zombie Friend

Killer's P.O.V

We spent about two hours relaxing in the hot spring. Everyone felt a lot better now. Well, except Nightmare. He was feeling the complete opposite. He was really mad at Buddy for pushing him into the water and revealing his passive form to everyone. That's what Dream calls it, his passive form. He was a lot cuter now, I had to admit. But he's even more anti-social now then he was before. He won't let me sit next to him.

"Come on, Night, it's not that bad." I argued.

"Don't call me Night! And leave me alone!" Nightmare yelled angrily.

He's like a stubborn child. Looks like one, too.

"It's probably best to leave him alone now, Killer." Dream said.

I sighed. "Yeah, alright."

I went and sat down away from Nightmare. At least I have the window to myself now, I guess. From the seat on front of me, I heard Fell groan.

"You ok?" Sci asked.

"I feel like I'm about to throw up..." Fell replied, his voice sounding broken and weak.

"Maybe we should go to the roof and get some fresh air."

Fell nodded and stood up, walking slowly towards the ladder leading to the roof, Sci followed close behind. Cross got up from his seat and went over to them.

"Here, I'll help you." He said, reaching to pull the ladder down for Fell.

Strangely, Fell grabbed Cross' shoulders, stopping him.

"Hm? What's wrong, bud?" Cross asked.

Fell looked up at him with hostile intent. He suddenly didn't seem so sick. His eye lights had gone dim and creamy, no sanity in them. His teeth were bared into a growling frown.

"You're scaring me, mate." Cross said.

Sci looked scared too. "Fell, he's a friend. Please let go of him..."

Fell ignored them. Instead, something inside seemed to snap. He tackled Cross down to the floor, snarling and growling. Cross kicked Fell off of him and stood up quickly, pulling out a knife.

"Whoah, hang on! Fell, what's with this sudden behaviour?" Dream asked, standing up from his seat.

Fell hissed and tried to tackle Cross again, but Cross rammed him into the wall and held him there by his neck. Fell clawed at Cross, trying to get free. All while snarling aggressively at him.

"Someone grab a rope or something!" Cross ordered.

"Mate, I'm a rope making machine." Error said proudly, summoning his strings. "Just gimme some room."

Cross quickly jumped away from Fell, readying his knife in case Error's strings failed. Fell instantly charged at Cross, his teeth open and ready to bite. Luckily, Error's strings grabbed Fell and tied him up, bounding his hands behind him back and wrapping his feet tightly together. Cross pushed Fell into a seat. Fell tried to break the strings, but his attempts were in vain.

"Sci, you said he wasn't infected!" Nightmare yelled, stomping into the scene.

"H-He isn't! I-I swear!" Sci stuttered.

"Prove it then! Test his blood for the infection!"

"But-"

"DO IT!"

Sci gulped and took the devise out of his pocket. There was tension in the air, everyone was holding their breath. Sci used a syringe to take a sample of Fell's blood and put it into the devise. Just a few moments later, the devise beeped and the result flashed up on screen. Nightmare snatched the devise off Sci and showed it to everyone. Infected.

"You lied to us, Sci!" Nightmare snapped, throwing the devise at the ground. "He could've killed us!"

"W-Wait, I can explain!" Sci argued, desperateness shaking his voice to bits.

"Go ahead then, explain why you put everyone's lives at risk!"

Sci was trembling, unsure of what Nightmare was going to do to him. Nightmare may be shorter now, but he was still every bit as threatening.

"I-I just had a feeling t-that I'd be able to help him s-somehow." Sci claimed.

"A feeling? A feeling! That's what you risked everyone's lives for? A feeling you had!"

"Nightmare, calm down." Dust said.

"Don't you speak, your one of the people we're trying to protect!" Nightmare glared at Sci. "I'm putting Fell down."

Sci shook his head quickly, tears forming in his eye sockets. "I-I won't let you t-touch him."

Nightmare stepped forward, standing straight to make himself look as big as possible. Sci stepped back, his body shaking even more.

"S-Stay away from him!"

"Brother, that's enough!"

Dream jumped over his seat and ran over to Sci, standing in front of him with his hands out in a protective manner.

"Get out of my way, Dream!" Nightmare ordered.

"It's not your choice whether Fell lives or dies! Leave him be!"

Nightmare growled.

"I gotta agree with Dream here, bud." Error said, walking over and joining them.

Cross went and stood with them, too. One by one, everyone else went to block Nightmare's way. The threatening look on Nightmare's face faltered, he knew he wouldn't be able to fight them all on his own, especially in his current form. It was quite a sight. Seven warriors and a couple outlanders standing together to help their half-zombie friend. I wasn't there with them, I didn't want to get mixed up in this.

"Why are you protecting him? He's infected!" Nightmare growled.

"You're right. He is infected." Reaper said. "But, unlike you, we're his friends. We care. And we're not about to let you hurt him."

Nightmare seemed frustrated. "If you care, you'll just get yourself hurt! Caring makes you weak!"

"We'd rather die caring then live a heartless minster like you."

Nightmare stared at them. It felt like hours before anyone did something again. Nightmare let out a cry of frustration and walked up to the ladder. He climbed it to the roof, slamming the trapdoor behind him. Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

"Thanks everyone..." Sci said quietly, smiling a grateful smile.

"No problem, bud." Error replied, smiling back.

Sci looked back at Fell. Fell's eye lights were still a creamy colour and he was still trying to break out of the strings tying him up.

"Error, could you untie him?" Sci requested.

"Are you sure? He still looks mad." Error asked.

Sci nodded. "Trust me."

Error sighed and commended the strings to free Fell. As soon as he was free, Fell stood up and growled at Sci. Sci stood his ground, looking softly into Fell's eye lights. Without hesitation, Fell charged at Sci with the intent to kill. Sci, instead of backing away to dodge the attack, swiftly went forwards and wrapped Fell into a tight hug. Fell flinched, his eye sockets going empty for a moment.

"Please Fell." Sci whispered. "I know there's still some sanity left in you. Please come back..."

Another long silence. Fell went limp in Sci's arms, his eye lights returning to it's usual red light as he did. Sci let out a sigh of relief and hugged Fell a little closer.

"Thank the creators you're ok..."

"That's good and all, but what are we going to do with him?" Horror asked. "He is infected, like Nightmare said. I'm sorry to say it, but he can't stay."

"Unfortunately, Horror's got a point." FC said, walking up to the group.

Sci looked at her with a sad expression. It made me feel bad for him.

"Well...we can't just abandon him."

FC nodded. "We know. Sci, it's clear you care about him the most. I want you to be there when he turns. And when he does, you'll have to be the one to put him down."

Sci looked down sadly. Tears were still flowing down cheekbones.

"I know it's hard." FC said. "But it has to be done. We'll give you a weapon and give two days out in the mountains. If you don't come back by then, we'll have no choice but to leave you behind."

Sci nodded slowly. Cross held his knife out, offering it to him. Sci took it and turned to Fell. Fell was trembling, hugging himself tight. Sci helped Fell up and half-carried him over the the bus door. FC opened it for him. I watched him leave into the mountains through the window. It felt wrong. This felt wrong. So very, very wrong. FC closed the bus door and sat down in a seat, sighing.

"Did he really have to go out there alone?" Dream asked.

"I want minimal casualties during this trip. Besides, there are hardly any zombies out here, I'm sure Sci will come back safe."

Blueberry looked around the bus. "Um...guys?"

"What's wrong, Blue?" Dust asked.

"Does anyone know where Asy is?"

FC's eyes widened. "Oh...crap."
