Commander Crocodile
Ink's P.O.V
"Almost there, almost there!" Asy chanted, jumping up and down in excitement.
"Can't believe we've survived this long." Reaper said.
"Just half an hour guys." FC announced. "Half an hour until freedom!"
Blueberry smiled at me, I smiled back. Everyone was in high spirits, even Nightmare. With the sun high in the sky and our life of fighting zombies till death seemingly behind us, we couldn't wait to see what the surviver camp was like. We didn't know much about them, but what we did know was that weapons were strictly forbidden inside the walls. They have an emergency supply and some are given to the guards on top of the wall, but no more then that. I heard that life was peaceful there. A place welcoming all who are looking for a place to call home until the end of the zombie apocalypse.
"What do you think it'll be like?" Blueberry asked.
"Haven't got a clue." Dust replied. "But I bet it'll be good."
"Think of it like a little organised village. Everyone does what they can to help the community. You can do all kinds of things like farming, purifying water, getting resources from outside the wall, so on and so forth." Dream explained. "It can be quite relaxing when you get used to it."
"Sounds a lot better then fighting zombies everyday." Fell said, who was leaning on the back of the seat in front of his own.
"It certainly does." Horror agreed.
"You're one to talk, Fell." Geno commented. "You're lazy as f**k."
"Yep." Fell said, smiling.
"I don't think that's something to be proud of, Fell." Sci said.
"Shh, don't tell them that!"
Sci chuckled and kissed Fell's cheekbone.
"Is there any kind of currency there?" Reaper asked.
Dream nodded. "Yes. You can get a small amount for working. You can't buy much with it though. Maybe if you're lucky, you'll save up for a pet."
"Sorry if this is a touchy question, but is that how you got Buddy?" I asked.
"I bought Buddy from a surviver camp, yes. At the time, he was just a pup and badly injured. Nobody there could take care of him, so I stepped in. I don't regret it."
"And since then, you've been making out with him whenever you've gotten the chance." Error teased.
Dream poked his tongue at Error, Error did the same.
"Guys, come look at Nightmare and Killer." Cross beckoned to us.
We went to see. Nightmare and Killer were curled up together in a corner, snuggled and asleep in each other's arms.
Dream 'aww'ed at them, as did Blueberry and I.
"I wish we had a camera right now." Horror said, smirking at them.
"I have a broken camera." Error claimed.
"How is that suppose to help me?"
"I dunno."
"I've never seen him so cuddly before!" Dream said, his eye lights turning to star shapes.
"Well, it's probably gonna be a one time thing, so take it all in."
Just a nice little moment. Everyone's happy. However, that didn't last long. We knew that happy moment was over when FC yelled out something from the front.
"Everyone hold on!"
I felt a short moment of panic. Just a couple seconds later, something bashed the side of the bus, hard. We were all knocked from our feet. The bus, despite how big and heavy it was, was flipped over onto it's side. Nightmare and Killer definitely didn't appreciate being woken up like this.
"What the f**k is going on?" Nightmare asked in an angry tone.
FC ran up to us. "Everyone out of the bus! Now!"
FC seemed serious, which didn't happen often. We all followed her order and got out. We had to bash down the door to get out, as whatever hit us dented it badly. Now, we were all outside, fully exposed to the thing that was strong enough to haul a bus to it's side. The thing that did so was truely terrifying. It was a huge mutant. One half of it was covered in thick, rotting flesh. The other half seemed to be all bone. Extremely thick bone that looked like it was stronger then steel, that is. It's arm on the fleshy side was so thick and looked like it could be used as a strong club. It's body was also covered in eyes, mouths and other body parts that seemed relatively normal in size. The only other normal thing was the half-covered in flesh human head, placed in such a spot that made it look hunched over. It looked mad.
"What the heck is that thing?" Geno asked.
"Haven't got the slightest clue." Error replied.
"Hello, big scary zombie man!" Asy waved at the mutant.
The mutant snarled at us and raised his massive hand, throwing it down on us. We all scattered, dodging the attack. Things only got worse from there. Three cars drove into the scene, filled with familiar guards. They were people from the arena, most likely here to take us back. For some reason, the mutant stoped attacking us, just standing there and looking at the new arrivals as they jumped out of their cars and surrounded us, aiming all guns at us.
"What are you doing here?" FC asked, surprisingly calm.
The commander stepped forward. "We're here to collect what you stole from us."
"You came all this way just for nine escaped warriors?"
"Yes."
"That was kinda dumb."
The commander growled something under his breathe. He had to be seven feet tall. He was a monster, like us. But unlike us, he was not a skeleton. He was an upright crocodile, only wearing some shorts and a scar over his left eye. He was known to be controlling and to make deals he wasn't suppose to make, with people he wasn't suppose to talk to. He was threatening and buff, there was no getting through that thick green layer of scales.
FC looked up at the mutant. "Why isn't it attacking us?"
"Because it's been specially designed to obey our order." The commander explained. "Like that wolf you killed a while ago."
"So you were experimenting on them? That's why you use the warriors to get money instead of efficiently slaying zombies?"
The commander nodded, smirking widely. "We have a chance to turn the zombie population into a lasting army for the future. Why waste the chance?"
"They are living creatures!" Blueberry yelled. "That wolf's heart was still beating! Zombie hearts stop beating once they turn fully!"
The commander nodded again. "Yes, they are alive. So what?"
"That's cruel, even for you." Sci said coldly.
He shrugged. "Not my problem. Right now, my only job is to capture you and bring you back to the arena."
The commander raised a hand into the air. The mutant responded to the command instantly, raising it's arm again. We all got ready to run, whether the guards started shooting or not. Everyone except for FC. FC reached into her pocket and pulled out some sort of grenade. The commander's eyes widened and he backed away, as did the other guards. The mutant saw it too and stopped it's attack.
"Everybody run for the surviver camp!" FC yelled, before pulling the pin of the grenade and dropping it at her feet.
The grenade exploded, sending out thick gas that blinded everyone. We all bolted, heading in different directions. I ended up with Error, Asy, Cross and Nightmare. I saw from the corner of my eye socket that Dust, Blueberry, Killer and Dream were running in a different direction. I took the chance in looking back. Reaper and Geno were running another direction, while everyone else ran past the mutant. FC was nowhere in sight. The commander and the guards all jumped into their cars and started chasing three of the groups, including ours. The commander ordered the mutant to chase Blueberry and his group. The beginning of the race to the surviver camp. Lets hope we win...
