A new life

Dream's P.O.V

Killer, Blueberry, Dust, Geno, Reaper, Lust, Horror, Sci, Fell and I were all standing before the tall wall of the survivor camp. It was made of rusty, but strong, metal. There were a few guards looking down at us. They weren't threatening us in any way, they actually seemed to be keeping an eye on us to make sure we were safe. That was the think with camp guards, they were always in their job, not just because they're good at it, but because they were always concerned about the health and safety of the ones they're protecting. Always nice to know someone was looking out for us.

The big bunny monster, Jack, had already left with his car. He said that if he saw the rest of our group on the way back to the arena, he'd drop them off here. But there's been nothing so far. I was worried about all of them, mainly Cross. I hope they're all ok...

"Do you think they'll let us in?" Blueberry asked.

"We have to wait for FC. She has to sign some papers for all of you to go inside." I explained.

"I understand, but some of need medical attention!"

Currently, Blueberry was trying to help Dust out. Dust was sitting against the metal wall, drifting in and out of consciousness. He wasn't the only one who was hurt.

I sighed. "Sorry, but they just wont let us in yet."

"Hey! Over here!"

Everyone looked over. To our relief, it was Ink, Error, Asy, Nightmare and Cross. I ran up to Cross and flung my arms around him.

"Thank the creators you're safe!" I said.

Cross smiled and placed a kiss on my foreskull. Luckily, the others didn't seem to be injured.

"What? No hugs for me?" Killer asked as Nightmare went past him.

Nightmare turned, smirking. He grabbed Killer with his tentacles and pulled him closer, dipping him into a passionate kiss. Aww.

"There are children here." Horror said, pointing a thumb at Asy.

Asy was off running around, talking to thin air and chasing small bugs.

"Looks like it's just FC left." Reaper said. "Anyone know where she is?"

Everyone went silent. None of us had seen FC run off with anyone. None of us knew where she might be. But, to our luck and relief, the familiar little bird flew towards us, chirping loudly. Chip landed on my shoulder.

"Never thought I'd be glad to see that damn bird." Nightmare commented.

"Chip, can you lead us to FC?" I asked.

"Yes, yes! This way! Follow this way!" Chip chirped.

Then he flew off again. Cross, Horror, Lust and I decided to follow, while the rest stayed. We didn't have to run too far. We found FC, caught in a trap and hanging upside down by a rope tied to a tree. She didn't look very happy.

"You got so close." Horror teased.

"Please just get me down from here." FC said, sounding just a little panicked.

Cross did as she said, just not in the way she wanted. He used his knife to cut the rope and FC fell head first into the ground with a yelp.

"Cross! That could've done some real damage!" FC scolded.

"Whoops." Cross chucked.

FC stood up, sighing. "Thanks anyway."

"Well, now that that's over." Lust said. "Lets go get you guys into the surviver camp!"

Now that FC was with us, the camp manager allowed us to come inside. The manager was nice. He was a short, fluffy, blue monster, who resembled a cat in some ways. He wore a red rope and was very, very welcoming. Everyone had to wash themselves well and we were all given new clothes, because they didn't want to risk the infection getting into the camp. Needless to say, everyone was happy that Horror was finally getting a bath. After that, we had a few things to discuss.

"So are all of you coming into the camp?" The manager asked.

"Not everyone." FC said. "I believe some of us are going to continue helping other warriors get their rightful place in a surviver camp."

"So who out of those will it be?"

"Dream, Nightmare, Error and Lust."

That was the original plan that well agreed to every time we dropped a group off at a surviver camp. Normally, we were ok with it. But this time, there was something else to consider.

"May I say something?" I asked.

FC nodded. "Go right ahead."

"If we had gone through this normally, not caring about each other, then we would've agreed with you, FC. But..." I looked down. "We started caring. Most of us began loving another. And...I think I'd like to stay here with them."

FC thought for a moment, them smiled. "I thought you'd say that. I understand. Actually, I think I'd feel better if you all stayed. I've gotten you into a lot of trouble and I think you've had enough."

I smiled back. "Thank you, FC."

"If that's the case," The manager said. "I will need to know if any of you plan on sleeping in the same tent."

"Tent?" Horror asked.

"Yes. They don't take up much room or recourses, so we can fit as many people into the surviver camp as possible." He smiled. "That won't be a problem, will it?"

"No, not at all."

"What will you do, FC?" Blueberry asked.

"I'll continue helping people get to surviver camps." FC replied. "But, I might stick to smaller rescues until I find some more friends to help me help others."

"Excellent." The manager said. "Now, I believe it's time for all of you to move into your new homes. We can discuss jobs, food and currency later. For now, we'll show you to where you'll be staying."

"Excuse me, sir?" Blueberry spoke up. "Sorry for interrupting, but some of us need medical attention..."

"Ah yes. I'll get someone to help anyone who is injured immediately."

And so, the group was split up. Not permanently, of course. Blueberry, Geno, Reaper and Dust went to the medical bay. Reaper didn't need healing, but he went anyway so he could stay with Geno. The rest of us went on to where we would be staying. The pairs slept together in the same tent. So, Horror and Lust, Killer and Nightmare, Sci and Fell and Cross and I. Blueberry did ask if he could sleep with somebody, because he still wasn't comfortable with sleeping alone. Dust happily obliged. The others went into a tent alone. FC left soon after, disappearing like she usually does. We didn't hear much from her after that.

We quickly got used to the routines of the camp. All of us went and get jobs to help out in the camp. The currency was given to anyone in a job, but it wasn't essential. Food was given out for free at acceptable amounts everyday. Those at the farm worked hard to make it all. I was offered a job to help new guards improve their accuracy, I did well. Ink did excellent in building tools and other resources, everyone was impressed with his magic. Error, Nightmare and Horror got a job in collecting resources from outside the walls. Horror was good with an axe, and Nightmare and Error were able to haul it all back. The three were a good team.

Cross, Killer, Reaper, Dust and Fell became guards, patrolling the wall for hours each shift. Lust and Geno both went for food related jobs. Geno did want to learn how to cook, but the eternally bleeding wound on his chest prevented that because of health issues. So he went to help out in the farm, taking crates of newly grown food and seeds to plant between locations. Lust of course got a job in the kitchen, astounding people with his amazing meals and sharing his methods with other cooks. Blueberry, who loved working with children, became an assistant teacher for the small school in the camp. Asy happened to be in the class of about ten children who Blueberry and another taught. That left us with Sci, who was a big help to the laboratory on camp. With the recipe of the zombie cure Asy had and Sci's knowledge, they were able to save so much more survivors out in the wastelands of the apocalypse.

Everyone was happy with their new life. And I was glad to be part of it. It wasn't easy to say the least, and it was hard to get to this point, but it's been almost a year now and it's just a few days until Christmas.
