It was two hours more before Five told the driver to stop. You had sulked in your corner of the back seat the entire way.
'Gimbel Brothers' the LED sign said at the front of the building. It was a clothes store, nothing out of the ordinary. Well....
"Five, it's dark, it's raining, why are we here?"
Another jump into the store to silence your questions.
I just might hurt him.
He seemed nervous, hands fitted into his pockets and he took deep breaths, as if to calm himself. You kept quiet, silently studying his behavior.
Maybe I'll find what's making him act this way THEN he'll answer my questions.
Maybe...
The store was huge with rows of clothing. Men, women, and children had multiple racks to choose from. The lights were off, only blue lights lit in one small area could be seen.
Again, why are we here?
Five picked up a small item and tossed another one your way. It was a flashlight and you flicked it on. "Five," you tried again, "what are we doing here?"
"We're looking for someone?"
Oh, thank god.
He finally answered one of my-
Wait, what?
Looking for someone? In a clothes store?
These situation Five was putting you in seemed to get more and more strange every time.
As you walked down the halls, aimlessly looking around, Five shined his light on every mannequin in the store.
Was there some secret button he had to push to find this person?
I'm thinking like a crazy person.
There was one more row that you walked into. Five stopped in his step, a large smiling finding its way into his lips.
Did he find who he was looking for?
He smile was quick to turn upside-down and he ran, falling to his knees before an empty spot. "No, no, no! Where's Delores?" His voice was loud enough to echo through the whole store.
You hesitantly followed after him. Delores was the girl Five was with for thirty years, but... was she a mannequin?
Had Five really lost his mind?
He quickly turned to you and grabbed your face between his hands. "Y/n, tell me!"
You tried to pry his hands away but he kept them on your face. "No, Five, tell-"
"Tell me!"
"Tell you what?!"
He let go of your face and gripped your shirt in his fists, pulling you even closer. "Why do you look like that?"
Excuse me?
"Why do you look young?"
His face was inches away from yours and everytime he exhaled, you felt it on your face. "W-Why do you want to know?"
"Just," he took a sharp breath. "Tell me."
His eyes were staring deeply into yours, his mouth pulled into a desperate frown.
Fine...
"I tried to find you."
You looked away from his powerful gaze. "I spent years researching for ways to time travel. I built my own time machine, I memorized the time continuum until I could say it in my sleep."
You stop to take a breath and clear your throat.
"I was sure I had found your exact location. So, I...I don't think I've ever moved that fast before," you chuckled to hold back the tears, the old memories still feeling fresh.
Five's grip softened and he brought one hand up to your cheek. Another shaky breath from you before you continued. "But, something went wrong. I had messed up. Instead of time moving forward, it went back. Suddenly, I was fourteen again."
Five's thumb caught the stray tear that left your eye. "You searched for me?"
"Yes! And-and I never stopped searching...! Yeah, I discovered dead-ends that took months to find a way around, but I never stopped looking. Not a day went by where I didn't think about you."
You let your eyes trail to look back into his.
"I care about you, Five, and I-" his lips hit yours.
He pulled you into his embrace, one arm wrapping around your waist and one holding you face. You melted into him, the feeling you longed was finally in your grasp.
"Thank you," he said once he pulled back. The smile in his face was wide, but it didn't last long. "No!"
Wha-
Gunshots.
There was a faint wizzing sound as bullets narrowly avoided hitting you. "What the fuck," you shouted, quickly throwing up a small shield as Five threw the both of you into a rack of clothing.
Three different bullets, three different people.
"Oh, shit! It's them."
Dude... WHO?!
Who the hell are 'they'?
Five pushed you lower to the ground and you both tried to crawl along the floor.
The reign of bullets never stopped.
"Y/n, can you get out on your own," Five asked, lacing your hand with his.
"Get the boy!"
You gulped, a shiver of fear running through your spine. "I, uh, yeah?"
I hope so?
"Good, go!"
He untangled his hand from yours and spacial jumped to somewhere else in the store.
The clothes around you twitched with each bullet that hit them. You crouched as low as you could, creating a small field to protect you.
There a half-wall over there, you thought, scanning the store for any cover. Your head perked you when you suddenly could only hear two guns.
"There you are."
Your legs were pulled from under you.
Someone threw themselves on top of you, a metal bat pushing against your throat. By the voice, it was a man.
You created your own bat-of-a-sort, your own force field pressed into your neck as you tried to push the man away. "Who are you," you grunted, straining yourself to keep the shield up.
He had this weird...cat mask on.
"Did your little boyfriend not tell you?" It was obvious the man found this to be entertaining. "Don't tell him about me, would ya?"
With a short yell, you shoved the man off and took no hesitation in running for the half-wall. Even panting and weak from your use of power, you flipped over the short wall. Your arms felt heavy with exhaustion.
You wished you had time to pause and think about what the man meant. The third gun began shooting once more.
You realized the wall was thin enough for the bullets to rip through seconds too late. A casing grazed itself on the side of your thigh.
Clenching your jaw, you tried to run through the pain, ducking behind another wall. Five launched himself over the same wall and landed next to you.
He was panting heavily and one of his arms were bleeding from a bullet wound. Still, he did his best to keep an hand on your lower back. His hand was shaking and his face was bright with fear.
"Got you," another person in a strange mask said. This time, a girl.
Her and another, quite tall, person held their gun up, fingers reaching for the trigger. They stood on the other side of the wall.
If they looked away, we could...
It's a small chance...
There wasn't anywhere to move and both of your powers had been used up. You stared at the wall before the two assassins.
Sirens went off, blue and red lights flashing at the front of the store.
Oh, no...
"Cops," the same girl said and both turned to look at each other. You pulled Five down and pressed both of yourselves up again the wall to get out of sight.
"The bastard jumped again," the other one, a male, said. "Come on, let's go."
You almost sighed out of relief.
It worked, but where's the third one?
"Get up," Five said, grunting as he helped you up. Sweat trailed down his face and his chest rose and fell. "We need to leave."
