Five searched through the cabinets of the kitchen. Everyone watched him move, taking seats around, and on the dining table.

"What's the date? The exact date?"
Allison answered from beside you.

Your head was pounding with all of the questions you had, all of the equations you wanted solved. You wanted to know where you went wrong.

He was gone for so long... then to just appear randomly?
It didn't work like that.
It couldn't.

There's no way.

"So, ar-are we not going to talk about what just happened?" Luther flipped his extended hand, as if to urge him to talk.

Five ignored him and pulled out bread, setting four slices onto a plate.

Luther gave a grunt as he stood from his seat, going to stand in Five's way. "It's been seventeen years," Luther said, having to tilt his head down to look at Five.

He scoffed and space jumped, appearing behind Luther.
"Didn't miss that."

Luther sighed and sat back in his seat, Five reaching for a bag of marshmallows.

"Where did you go," Diego asked.
"The future," Five replies, spreading the marshmallows on two of the four bread slices. "It's shit by the way."

"Called it," Klaus said, reaching for the bag of sweets. He gave you a handful.

"I should've listened to the old man," Five sighed and took a moment to shake his head.

Vanya swirled her hands around in her hair, clearly confused. "W-Wait, how did you get back?"

"In the end, I had to project my consciousness forward into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exists in every possible instance of time." He applied peanut butter to the other two slices of bread.

You soaked in every word, and soon your eyebrows pulled together, a frown etching onto your lips.

His power, he couldn't do that alone.
Did someone help him?

Diego didn't understand a word. "That makes no sense."

Don't be slick, Five.

"Well, it would if you were smart."

Nevermind

For the second time that day, Diego let his anger get to him and he jumped from his seat. Luther was quick to stop him with a held-out arm.

"How long were you gone?"
"Forty-five years? Give or take."
Everyone was shocked into silence.

Time must've... forty-five years...
"So, you're saying, you're fifty-eight?"

Five looks up at you, handing over one of the sandwiches he made.

Allison repeats her question.
"So, you're saying, your fifty-eight?"

"No, I'm saying my consciousness is fifty-eight. Apparently, my body is sixteen again."
He looks deep into your eyes. "Like Y/n, her consciousness is around thirty, but she still looks sixteen, I wonder why?"

You avoid his gaze an bite off a piece of your sandwich.

Five looks away and does the same.
"Delores, always said the calculations were off."

Delores?
Was that the person who helped him?

Five held up a nearby newspaper, muttering the date. "Guess I missed the funeral."

"H-How do you know about that?" It was finally your turn to speak.

Five stopped for a moment and cherished your voice.
He let a small smile tug at his lips.
"I'm from the future," he said, sending you a flashy wink before stepping out of the room.

You were speechless
He was able to come back from the future after seventeen years.
You believed he was gone.
All those attempts that failed, and yet, he's here, in the flesh.

"Come on," Allison pulled you from you thoughts and lead you back outside. You left the half-eaten sandwich on the table.

Everyone stood in a line, even mother and Pogo joined. Allison pulled out an umbrella, holding it above the both of you.

"Whenever you're ready, dear boy," Pogo nodded your Luther.

He opened to urn and the ashes dropped to the ground in an unsatisfactory way.
"Probably would've been better with some wind."

You all looked down in disappointment.
"Does anyone wish to speak?"
No one moved.

Five stepped closer to you, his umbrella almost touching Allison's. You took the hint and went next to him, the side of your arm grazing against his sleeve.

Pogo steps out to say a small word. "Sir Reginald Hargreeves was my master, and he was my friend. He leaves behind a complicated legacy-"

"He was a monster," Diego cuts in. "He was a bad person and a worse father. The-"
"Diego stop," Allison tried to warn.
"My name is number two. You know why, because our father couldn't be bothered to give us actual names."

Luther gave Diego a glare that held built-up hatred. "You should stop talking."

"You of all people should be on my side, Number One."
"I am warning you."
"He had to ship you millions of miles away-"
"Stop talking!"
"That's because he couldn't stand the sight of you!"

Diego's finger pressed into Luther's chest. Luther threw Diego's arm to the side.

You looked away with a grimace, hearing them grunt as they landed hit after hit on each other.
"Stop it," Vanya shouted, but no one listened.

"Come here, big boy," Diego taunted.
The sound of the hit that followed was worse that the rest.

Flesh hitting metal flowed through your ears.
Shit

You had to look up.
You wish you didn't.

"And there goes Ben's statue," Allison muttered, taking one glance at the decapitated statue before following Five inside.

The two boys created distance between them.
"Diego, no!" Vanya looked your way with pleading eyes as Diego pulled a small knife from his pocket.
"Y/n, stop them!"

At her words, your hands shot out.
A translucent barrier appeared before Diego, though it quickly dispersed into the air.

You weren't fast enough.
Diego had already thrown the knife.
It nicked Luther's arm.

That seemed to stop everything.

Luther gripped the cut with his hand and stumbled into the house, looking panicked. Diego had this satisfied grin on his face as he looked at you with mocking eyes.

"You never know when to stop, do you," Vanya asked Diego as the rest headed inside.

You all tensed as the buzzing of the tattoo machine kept going. A tear left your eye as you stared down at the marked skin of your left forearm. An umbrella, symbolizing you all as a team. Klaus hugged Allison as she cried. Diego groaned as he was getting his done. Ben, Luther, and Five all sat in chairs, waiting for their turn.

Luther was scared, his face held it.
Ben didn't know what to think.
Five was calm, staring at you to stay still.
You were lost, didn't feel anything.
Allison was in pain, she hated it.
Klaus was worried, allison wouldn't stop her sobs.
Vanya was lonely, father didn't allow it.
