"Hey," Five sighed when he entered the main room. "You want a drink?"
You lifted your head from your hands and shifted in your seat at the bar. After all of the events, even starting back from when he arrived, you haven't gotten time to relax.
Finally, now that you knew why Five was running around for clues and almost dying multiple times you were glad to hear him ask for that.
It meant a break for him, he was relaxing.
Why?
That question it was drifting along in your head for almost six days now. And everytime it was asked, it was for a different reason.
So, as always, it needed to be answered.
But I'll wait, you thought to yourself watching Five scrounge around the bar, pulling out a putrid color of green alcohol to mix it in with others.
Was there alcohol in the apocalypse?
He had weirdly good eye, taking only the best of what was in the cabinets, and you couldn't help but to watch as his eyebrows pulled together in concentration.
He really wants this drink.
Not long after, you had your drink in hand, mixing it around with the small umbrella Five had placed in the glass with a wink.
He took the seat next to you -you had yet to move- and leaned back against the bar with a wince and you summed it up to his wound.
He's only had a day to heal.
"Well, do you think we really did it," Five asks, stopping your train of thought. "Think we actually stopped the apocalypse?"
"I..." you trailed off, lifting a nail to your mouth and nervously bit at it. "I guess? But now what?"
"Now what," he repeated you and took a second to look away. "I don't know."
He dips his head down, and swirls his straw around in the glass. "I'm open to suggestion."
"Is the apocalypse really o-" a knocking at the front doors cuts your sentence off entirely. Five stands, taking his drink with him.
"I'll get it."
You huff and lean away from your glass to run a hand over your face.
Is the apocalypse really over?
It's another question you have yet to answer.
Rob led you on with his words "you'll die either way" which means that the apocalypse is still on its way, but Five is saying there's nothing to bother about since Leonard is dead.
It doesn't make sense.
You shook your head, pulling away from your hand and waited for Five to come back.
"Five, who is-" your hands flew out and created large circle around Hazel, who jumped in fright at the sudden force field trapping him in place. "What is he doing here?!"
"Y/n!"
Five reached forward and pulled your arms down to your sides but you held them flexed to keep the box up.
Hazel used a hand to trail it along the walls, a face full of awe and his mouth dropped open.
"Woah...Rob told me about your powers," he said and you groaned under the feelings of his hands against the walls. "But I never knew it was this... cool."
You grunted let the walls fall to shake out the tingly feeling in your arms. Five was there to trap your hands in his own, his drink long discarded. "Y/n! Maybe listen to him before- wait," he paused and both you and Hazel froze.
Shit, did he-
"Did you say Rob?
"N-No," you shout out before Hazel starts a long stuttering mess, you and him suddenly defending the same thing.
Five didn't look convinced, but with a sigh and a quick glance to each of you, he asked. "Are you here to kill me?"
You failed to notice the gun in Hazel's hand when he first stepped foot into the room. You just acted on instinct.
"Oh. Shit, sorry. Old habit."
Hazel put his weapon away.
He then fixed his coat in a nervous way and your shoulders relaxed at his un-threatening aura.
Is he not here to hurt us?
"Well, I can understand why you might feel that way, you know..." he trailed off with a hopeless swipe of his hands to get the point across.
"Well, you attacked our house, tried to kill my family, and kidnapped my brother," Five stated, simply sipping on his drink.
Your eyes widened at the list of things that had happened in the past few days, suddenly realizing how serious it was. You balanced yourself on the side of the bar.
"There's not much I can do about past. I'm not the only killer in this room," Hazel said. "You got your own bloody history, pal."
Are they here to catch up, or what?
You lazily glanced on, tired of the small banter. "Why are you here," you asked.
"Well, I'm- Argh!"
Hazel was shoved to the ground by Diego's foot and you turned away to laugh as Five shouted for him to stop.
Ah, we're family, aren't we?
Always acting before thinking.
"You know," Five sighed and slumped back in his chair, "before you kill him, you might wanna hear what he has to say."
There isn't a reply from Diego, just a few more hits and a loud break of glass. You turn back around to see Diego on the floor, glass surrounding him.
Hazel grunts and stands back on his feet, patting down his suit.
Is that blood on his ear?
"I draw the line at biting."
He bit him?!
You throw a hand over your mouth to keep your laugh from escaping your lips.
Five sends you a glare and helps Hazel to the bar, sitting in his original seat.
You clear you throat and gulp down your laugh to stand at the other end.
"Whatever you came here to say, I suggest you make it quick, before he comes round," Five says, taking your drink to gulp it down.
"I want to help stop the apocalypse."
Five giggles (and you melt) and plays with the straw in his glass.
Hazel looks at Five suspiciously, and you can tell his patience is wear thin.
Can't blame him.
"What on earth could be so funny to you right now?"
"Before I answer that, why do you wanna help us," Five asks and you can't help but wonder the same thing.
"Let's just say I have vested interest in a doughnut shop."
A doughnut shop?
Your face falls.
Oh, no... the one we destroyed?
"Well, I hate to break it to you, pal, but you're a day late and a dollar short." Five grins. "The fact that you're here right now means, without a shadow of a doubt, that the apocalypse is over."
"Really how do you know," Hazel asks.
So it's really over?
"The mark is dead. Found him this morning. You were the last known unknown left in the equation."
Hazel let's out a chuckle of what you assumed was relief, his shoulders relaxing. "Shit. Really?"
Five hums. "Mhm. And if you're out, then Hellrider ain't riding."
Hellrider?
Hazel gives a sound of surprise and does a gesture of happiness. "Alright," he laughs and takes one step over to the bar and takes your previous seat.
You watched with disgusted eyes as he takes the leftover mix of the drinks and swallows it in one. How much food would he be able to eat in a day?
"So now what," Hazel asks your earlier question to Five.
"You know, to be honest, I don't know. I've been chasing this thing for so long, I..."
You had to pinch yourself to stop from spewing ideas to Five on activities to enjoy.
"...I don't know. What about you?"
"I'm done with all this madness. Time to start over. You should do the same."
Five catches your eyes and instantly you can't pull away. "That's easier said than done, but... I'll work on it." He flashes a smile that heats up your face.
"It doesn't have to be hard," Hazel suggests, sounding weirdly emotional. "Think about it, if all this never came to be; the apocalypse, the handler, what would've happened?"
Five breaths through his nose in amusement and casts him gaze downwards. "I guess I would have grown up to be an emotionally stunted man-child like everybody else around here."
Hey!
You hide the look of dramatic hurt behind a shake of your head.
He is an emotionally stunted man-child, though...
"Well, now you can grow up," Hazel says with a sigh and pushes himself away from the bar. "Good luck."
Five calls his name before he can get too far. "I got a question."
"Shoot."
"Which one of you was the trigger man for Detective Patch?"
"Trigger woman."
You sigh and Five joins in with a, "that's too bad."
You look Diego who has yet to wake up. He'll find out when he wakes up.
"That gun could've cleared him name," you spit out, and before you could register what happened, Hazel had put both his and Cha-Cha's guns on the bar.
"I'm done with this life," he says and without another word, he leaves the building.
You and Five sit in silence for a long minute before you stand straight with a stretch. "Well, I'm taking a nap, wake me if the world ends."
