Return Trips
Let's see what Jack and his group think of the Eleventh Apocalypse!
***
"And exactly how many of those have you downed?"
Captain Jack Harkness raised an eyebrow and looked at who had just sat next to him. He scoffed and turned away from the rather pretty brunette and downed his . . . umpteenth shot of the night. "I don't know," he admitted.
"And that tells me all I need to know," she smirked. "Not being able to count. Don't blame you there."
"I can count just fine, thanks," Jack scowled at her.
"That was rude," the brunette frowned. "We both were. Sorry," she shook her head, frowning. "Still trying to get my head back together."
"Rough night?" Jack asked.
"You could say that," she muttered. "Well, rough day, more like it. I have horrible timing, I've figured out."
Jack laughed. "That sounds like my sister."
"Really?" she raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, if you only met her," Jack snorted, waving at the bartender for another shot.
"Your friends look concerned," the brunette noted.
Jack looked behind him to see his daughter, Alice Carter, and Ianto Jones were watching him worriedly. "Rough last week," he muttered.
"Understandable," the woman smiled. "Met this girl a few hours ago. Poor dear went through four psychiatrists in twelve years."
"Seriously?" Jack's eyebrows shot up.
"She kept biting them," the woman giggled.
Jack laughed, surprised. "That would do it."
"Yes, it would," she nodded in agreement. "Then again, she knocked me out with a cricket bat."
"A cricket bat," Jack frowned at her.
"Horrible timing."
"Apparently very horrible."
"Oh, very," she winced before looking back at Ianto. "He looks very worried."
"I don't blame him," Jack sighed, smiling gratefully at Ianto, who slowly nodded and went back to talking with Owen Harper and Toshiko Sato, Gwen Cooper and Rhys Williams in a booth nearby. John and Anna Frobisher, along with Johnny and Rhiannon Davies, were watching the children in another corner. "We've had some . . . " He paused, looking at the woman next to him oddly. What was it about her that was making him talk to her like this? "Family issues lately," he finished carefully.
To his surprise, she snorted. "Oh, don't get me started there," she tapped her fingers on the bar. Jack frowned, seeing the sleeve of her jacket slide up to reveal a silver wristwatch that looked familiar . . . "My brother's probably lost forever now, and I found out I was tricked by my superiors into believing the two most important people in my life were dead."
And with a shock, Jack realized exactly where he had seen that watch before. His shot glass fell from his hand as he stared at the woman, stunned, his blue eyes wide. "Jack?" Ianto noticed immediately, starting to walk over with Alice.
"Oh, my God," Jack simply stared at the woman.
She raised an eyebrow, then followed his gaze to her watch. "Oh, yes, the watch," she nodded, starting to smile. "I was wondering when you'd get the hint."
"Calypsie," Jack realized, tears stinging his eyes.
"Like the new look?" she winked.
In a flash, Jack engulfed her in a huge hug, which she instantly returned. "You're alive," he whispered, just relieved she wasn't dead. Well, it was obvious she had died. She had just regenerated.
"Yes, I am," the Apocalypse grinned, pulling back. "You never did answer my question."
"Well . . . " Jack held out his hand, and she took off her leather jacket, handing it to him and doing an experimental spin. Jack grinned, watching her orange halter dress flare, wearing bright yellow leggings and white Converse, a white bandana holding her wildly curly hair out of her eyes. "I approve," he smiled, handing the jacket back as Ianto and Alice finally caught up.
"Thank you!" she grinned, then clapped her hands. "Well, whenever you're ready to go, ride's just outside."
"That horrible timing thing," Jack began. "Exactly how bad was it?"
The Apocalypse cringed. "It put my twelve months instead of twelve hours to shame." When Jack raised an eyebrow, she sighed. "I said five minutes." She blushed. "It was twelve years."
Jack burst out laughing hysterically, partly because Ianto did a massive double take as Alice's jaw hit the ground. "Calypsie!!"
"It's not my fault!" she instantly attempted to defend herself as two new people entered the bar.
"Actually, Caly," Rose snickered as she walked up. "You were the one who sent us spiraling towards London. And it was your regeneration that caused the TARDIS to decide to lock us out for a while."
" . . . spoilsport," the Apocalypse pouted.
"You are such a child," Rose laughed.
"Oh, my God," Alice sputtered.
"Oh, yes, I got a makeover," the Apocalypse grinned as the rest of the Torchwood team came over. "Look a bit different, probably sound a bit different, I know I act a bit different - "
"The gob didn't change," Rose commented.
"And I'm still not English," the Apocalypse complained.
"Apocalypse," Owen interrupted, making her shut up and look at him with wide, attentive eyes. "Hug, now."
She grinned and ran to do just that. "I can still hug."
"You better," Gwen pointed at her before hugging her as well. "It's just good to know you're alive."
"Now, hang on," Jack frowned when he remembered what she said. "What was this about finding out your superiors lied?"
The Apocalypse took a deep breath. "Maybe back on the TARDIS."
***
Surprisingly, the Apocalypse managed to time it correctly so she dropped the Frobishers, the Davies, and the Carters off in the right time period. Rhys went back to work, so the TARDIS sat in the middle of the Torchwood Hub, the five Torchwood members sitting in the TARDIS as the Apocalypse quietly explained what happened before she died, Rose and Jack sitting by her side supportively. "That bastard," Jack finally hissed his opinion of Rassilon.
"I could kill the bloody git, I swear," Owen nodded in agreement, Ianto's face stony.
"He expected you to fight more when he told you the Doctor and the Master were dead?" Tosh asked, horrified.
"He did," the Apocalypse nodded, swallowing. "But really, what else was there to fight for if the two most important people in my life were dead?"
"Son of a bitch," Ianto muttered.
"And now he would more than likely be dead anyway," the Apocalypse muttered. "He stood at Rassilon's right hand, even if he didn't have a choice. Betrayal like that . . . " She swallowed. "That's instant execution."
"That is sick," Gwen looked nauseous.
"I remember Gallifrey as it was before, beautiful," the Apocalypse looked down at her hands. "And not what it because during the Time War."
Jack wrapped his arm around her shoulders. "You've got us," he reminded her.
She smiled weakly. "Not a bad life."
"Better with eight," Rose joked.
The Apocalypse gave a watery smile. "How about we finally pick up Amelia Pond?" she asked.
"Good idea," Rose giggled. "Five quid you get the date wrong."
"No."
"Ten quid."
"Done."
"Have fun," Jack chuckled, heading for the door with his team. "Remember, Calypsie, you ever want us to come, just give us a warning call."
"Will do," she gave a mock salute, then turned towards the console. "Now, onto Amelia Pond!"

Amy was sleeping in her bedroom when she heard a familiar wheezing noise. Gasping, she sat up in bed, looking out the window to see the TARDIS had returned. Eyes wide, she ran outside as the Apocalypse walked out. "Sorry about running off earlier," she smiled. "Brand new TARDIS. Bit exciting. Just had a quick hop to return a few people home, just to run her in. She's ready for the big stuff now."
"It's you," Amy breathed, watching Rose and Jenny come out next. "All of you, you came back!"
"'Course we came back," the Apocalypse grinned. "We always come back. Something wrong with that?"
Amy looked her up and down. "And you kept the clothes."
"Well, I just saved the world!" the Apocalypse folded her arms. "The whole planet, for about the millionth time, no charge. Yeah, shoot me, I kept the clothes."
"Including the Converse," Amy eyed the shoes. Really, it would have been better if she'd gone with the boots she'd seen her wearing earlier.
"Yeah, they're cool," the Apocalypse nodded. "Converse are cool."
Amy eyed her. "Are you from another planet?"
"Yeah."
"I'm from here, just changed," Rose shrugged. "Jenny was born on another planet, though."
"OK," Amy took a deep breath.
"So, what do you think?" the Apocalypse asked.
"Of what?"
"Other planets. Want to check some out?"
"What does that mean?"
"It means . . . " The Apocalypse looked at Rose and Jenny, both of whom nodded their support. The Apocalypse turned back. "Come with us."
Amy swallowed. "Where?"
"Wherever you like."
"All that stuff that happened," Amy looked at her in disbelief. "The hospital, the spaceships, Prisoner Zero . . . "
"Trust me, with her, that's just the beginning," Rose giggled.
"Yeah, but those things, those amazing things, all that stuff . . . " Amy glared and punched the Apocalypse in the arm. "That was two years ago!"
"Yes!" Rose whisper cheered under her breath as Jenny laughed hysterically.
"Oh," the Apocalypse cringed. "Oops."
"Yeah," Amy glared.
"So, that's - "
"Fourteen years!"
"Oh, that's gold," Rose gasped, clutching her side as she laughed. "Jen, we are so telling Jack later."
"Fourteen years since fish custard," the Apocalypse nodded. "Amy Pond, the girl who waited. You've waited long enough."
"When I was a kid, you said there was a swimming pool and a library, and the swimming pool was in the library."
"Yeah, not sure where it's got to now," the Apocalypse admitted. "It'll turn up. So . . . coming?"
"No," Amy shook her head.
"You wanted to come fourteen years ago."
"I grew up."
"Don't worry," the Apocalypse smirked as Jenny nudged open the TARDIS door. "We'll soon fix that." Amy walked inside, staring around in awe at the TARDIS. "Well?" the Apocalypse bounded in after her, Rose standing with Amy, Jenny closing the door. "Anything you want to say? Any passing remarks? I've heard them all."
"I'm in my nightie," Amy whispered, unable to say anything else.
"I don't think she's heard that one," Rose giggled.
"Oh, don't worry, plenty of clothes in the wardrobe," the Apocalypse waved a hand. "And possibly a swimming pool. So, all of time and space, everything that ever happened or ever will. Where do you want to start?"
"You are so sure that I'm coming," Amy folded her arms.
"Yeah, I am," she nodded.
"Why?"
"Because you're the Scottish girl in the English village, and I know how that feels."
"Oh, do you?"
"All these years living here, most of your life, and you've still got that accent. Yeah. You're coming."
Amy hesitated. "Can you get me back for tomorrow morning?"
"It's a time machine. I can get you back five minutes ago."
"If you don't mess it up," Rose teased.
"Shut it," the Apocalypse pointed at her, but Jenny snickered anyway. "But what's tomorrow?"
"Nothing, nothing," Amy said quickly. "Just, you know . . . stuff."
"All right, then," the Apocalypse shrugged. "Back in time for stuff." Something dinged on the console, and she grinned, pulling out a new sonic screwdriver, bronze with an orange diode. "Oh, a new one! Lovely. Thanks, dear," she patted the console.
"Why me?" Amy asked.
"Why not?" the Apocalypse turned to her.
"No, seriously. You are asking me to run away with you in the middle of the night. It's a fair question. Why me?"
"I don't know," the Apocalypse shrugged. "Do I have to have a reason?"
"People always have a reason."
"Does she look like people?" Rose asked her earlier question.
"Yes," Amy nodded.
The Apocalypse sighed, walking around the console. "Rose, Jenny, and I have been knocking around on our own for a while. My choice, and I started turning into someone I wasn't." She paused. "It's someone I never want to be again."
"You want to change," Amy guessed.
"Yes."
"OK," Amy nodded, able to agree with that.
"So, are you OK, then? Because this place, sometimes it can make people feel a bit . . . you know."
"I'm fine," Amy nodded. "It's just . . . there's a whole world in here, just like you said. It's all true. I thought . . . well, I started to think that maybe you were just like a madwoman with a box."
Rose snickered. "Amy, I've known her for almost a decade. That's something you should understand right now: she is definitely a madwoman with a box."
"Haha, yeah!" the Apocalypse laughed as she took the controls, Rose pulling Amy up as well, Jenny helping her mother. "Goodbye, Leadworth, hello, everything!"
Amy clung onto the console as the Apocalypse and Jenny went the TARDIS off, Rose laughing as well.

And now this book is on hiatus. I think I'll be able to update as long as I keep my hands on the family iPad. My dad has one of his own now that helps him with his camera, and my mom rarely uses the other one anymore since she has one for school, so . . . *smiles hopefullly*
But anyway, if you guys want another series to read, I just finished book one of one of my favorite OCs, Annakamara, also known as the Doctor's daughter! For you Doctor/Rose shippers, I think it would be a good read, since Anna is a rather enthusiastic shipper. ;) "Bad Wolf" is finished, and I'm hoping to upload "The Christmas Invasion" for "Torchwood" before school officially ends.
So, keep an eye out! Thank you guys so much!
