Only a few made it out of the city and only a few were able to hide from the infected, but this is only the beginning of the end.

The three hedgehogs headed to the closet town, which was a day walk from where they had set up

The two then ran past the last of the horde, taking down when those things lunged at them

The figure then disappeared into the frozen hinterland and to the camp they had set up in the tops of the trees

" that was a close one " Sapphire mumbled as Frost started the car and took off down the road

Shadow, Silver and Scourge walked through the snow towards the nearby town, unaware they were being watched from afar by a cloaked figure in the trees

" how far until we get there, we've been walking for hours and I'm freezing me ass off " Scourge groaned

" shut it, we'll get there by tomorrow morning, but if we walk all nodded we'll get there by midnight, and that's when the infected is most active " Shadow snapped quietly, worrying about his youngest brother and everyone else at the factory they had set up camp in

" alright, so we need to find food, water, clothes, blankets, sleeping bags, more building materials and cooking supplies" Silver listed

" also bleach, medicine, weapons and possibly a car or something to carry it all back " Scourge stated

" and maybe some survivors, if there are any in this area " Shadow mumbled, Silver and Scourge nodded

They continued to walk on until dusk, they climbed a large tree, they didn't eat to be zombie food during the night, zombies don't climb trees...at least they hope not

" I hate trees " Scourge mumbled

" Sonic prefers sleeping in trees, he always found them comfortable " Silver chuckled

" shut it, someone's watching us " Shadow growled as he scanned the trees and ground, finding nothing

" your paranoid " Scourge mumbled as he looked towards Shadow, who growled and glared at him

The three soon fell asleep in the tree tops, a figure in a black cloak watching their every move

Dream and Even ran as fast as they could from the horde chasing them, the bags they carried slowing them down

" can't you use the chainsaw?" Dream shouted panicked

" no! I'm out of petrol, remember?" Even shouted back, Dream groaned and continued running

A car stopped in front of them, and the two stopped running and looked at each other confused

" get in, or you can both get digested by zombies " an arctic fox stared blankly though the lowered window

Dream and Even again looked at each other and then behind them, they shrugged and climbed in, slamming the door behind them

Dream and Even sighed in relief and relaxed slightly at knowing they weren't dead

Even was first to notice two others looking at them, Even gulped and smiled shyly, nudging Dream in the process

" huh? Oh " Dream said as she looked at the two staring at her and her friend

" no thank you?" A black hedgehog scoffed

" we were out of breath, did you really expect us to say that straight away?" Dream questioned with a soft growl

" fair point " the blue female next to them commented, Dream couldn't tell if she was a cat or a hedgehog

" thanks for the help " Even said quietly, the arctic fox nodded

" you mind telling us your names?" The black hedgehog asked, not liking the new company

" I'm Nightmare and this is Ella " Dream smiled

" your both idiots for saying your real names, what if we were planning of using you both to get more supplies " the arctic fox growled

" who said they were our real names?" Even chuckled, Dream may seem very energetic and hypo at times, but she does know when to take precautions

The three females seemed to pause

" well played " the blue female chuckled

" well it's obvious you won't kill us, so my name is actually Dream, Dream the Dingo " Dream laughed softly

" Even, Even the Hedgehog " Even smiled slightly still a little nervous

" I'm Sapphire the Hedgecat " The blue female smiled at the two as she held out her hand to Dream and Even

Dream took it and shook her hand, Even did the same

" Frost the arctic fox " the arctic fox said as she hit a shambler

" Darlight the Hedgehog, Darly for short " the black hedgehog huffed

" nice to meet you all, and thanks again for your help " Dream smiled

" so where is it your going?" Sapphire asked, Dream and Even hesitated

" to Parker street " Dream said reluctantly

" that area is infested with the infected!" Darlight shouted as she looked at Dream and Even

" it's where we've been for a month now " Even sighed

" and where our other materials are " Dream frowned, Sapphire and Darlight looked at each other and then to Frost

" we'll take you there, but you stay with us, your both careless and immature " Frost stated

" excuse me? We are not careless and immature! If we were we'd be dead right now!" Dream snapped, making Sapphire, Darlight and Frost to blink

" I suggest not making either of us mad, or fresh blood could be spilt soon " Even glared at the three

" I like them " Darlight chuckled, Frost rolled her eyes and continued driving
