Tell us a bit about yourself!

I enjoy writing different genres, especially historical fiction and werewolf genres. I also work in the field of education and I enjoy trying new coffee places and meet new people.

What is your writing process? Do you outline everything or write as things come to mind? Why?

There are times when my ideas come to me, and I think about how it might work into a story. It is a rarity when I write my ideas down, I just write the idea and go with the flow. Sometimes, music inspires me to get new ideas and I always listen to music when I do my stories since it can get me in the mood.

What are some things that influenced your story?

For my story, Kabuki, I was influenced when I watched a documentary about Kabuki itself. It intrigued me, and I noticed that there were few stories on Kabuki. Although Kabuki is a beautiful tradition in Japan, it also has its dark sides. In my story, I wanted to show readers that with power, popularity, and wealth, there is always a cost.

Tell us about the main character of one of your stories. What inspired their creation?

The main character of Kabuki is Renjiro, who was abandoned as a child and was brought into the world of Kabuki since he decided to join at such a young age. Renjiro represents the youth who had to grow up very early at a young age to survive. Also, others will try to take advantage of the desperate and unloved.

What were some challenges you experienced while writing the story?

Kabuki is my first LGTBQ story, which I have never written before, and in Kabuki, actors take lovers of both genders, so I wanted to try something new. It was also difficult to find more information about Kabuki since it is almost a mysterious and secretive tradition and profession. Also, the topic is not too well-known, so I had to try to make it as realistic as I could with the information I could get.

What message do you hope your story will tell your readers?

Love can come in many forms, but sometimes it can require sacrifice. Love can bring one hope, but it can also lead to heartbreak. Sometimes, we want to have everything in life but it is not always possible so sometimes one has to choose what would be best for oneself.

If you woke up in a time or place that was very different from reality, what would you do?

Try to make the most of it take the time to learn new things, and be grateful for the opportunity. Well, it depends on what the time and place was, of course.

If there was something you could learn (i.e., some spell, some martial arts, etc.) like the main character in your book, what would it be?

If I could learn something, it is how to act. Acting doesn't look too easy since one has to change their facial features and have to feel the character one plays.

Would you rather go through a lifetime of never finding love or be willing to go through several lifetimes of hardships just to save your love? Why?

I would instead go through many hardships to save my love. Love can be a beautiful feeling to have, and it can be painful. I have seen how not finding love can make a person become, and sometimes it can lead to no purpose. Love can be for anything or for anyone, and one must go through hardships to not only save one's love but also learn from the process.

What is your favorite creature from Asian mythology or folklore? Why?

One of my favorite creatures has to be the Yuki-Onna. Many stories regarding the Yuki-onna regard love, tragedy, and fear. However, I believe that even the most mysterious and beautiful creatures can be misunderstood, representing many people today. Like the Yuki-onna, sometimes one wants to fit in and live a normal life, but sometimes society and life can be cruel and make us hide who we are.

What is your favorite Asian myth? Why?

One of my favorites is about Emperor Jimmu since he was considered the first Emperor of Japan and was said to be the descendant of the goddess Amaterasu. It was said that the Imperial family is descended from this man, but there is no evidence that he existed, so he is known as a myth. What intrigued me about him was his mysteriousness, and I wondered how he could unify all the people and if he was indeed descended from the gods.
