He held the box that contained the ring tightly in his hand, standing just before the large springs in Waterfall. Putting the box in his back pocket, he set off.
Vulkin decided he'd take a walk to Waterfall, which was good to cool off from the heat of Hotland. The day that lay ahead would end soon for the monster.

I woke up to my ringing alarm, careless about the day ahead. I live in a crappy apartment that's falling apart and smells like smoke and dog. I don't even have a dog! I swear it's my neighbors...
Getting out of my old, creaky bed and turning the alarm off, I made my way to the dirty closet. I'm telling you, this place sucks! Tugging the closet door open, I pulled my MTT uniform from one of the drawers and put it on.
I brushed my teeth and glared at the shower. Being a cat, I prefer not taking showers and just cleaning myself.
Whatever.
I left the stuffy apartment, making sure I grabbed five cigs on the way out, two for my breaks and the extra three in case I really need it.
As I was walking to the MTT Resort, I noticed Vulkin walking the opposite way towards Waterfall. Now why would a small volcano go to Waterfall? Hm. Whatever. What did I care? I don't know the guy!
But as I was looking at him, I had this weird chill that ran up my spine. I felt like something bad was gonna happen to him, but I looked away and forgot.
That's my power. Forgetfulness, carelessness, zoning out, apathy. I went to a doctor one day and she diagnosed me with apathy, giving me meds that I've long since thrown out.
Before I knew it, I was at work. "Yaaayyyy, work." I mumbled. Catty and Bratty were walking behind the building where they usually are and started giggling as I entered the building.
Rolling my eyes, I got another chill as I stepped on the red carpet. For some reason, I glanced over at room 300, the first one. A feeling told me something was gonna happen.
I felt paranoid, but there was nothing to worry about. Today's just gonna be another boring day, right? I don't know why I was so worried that it wouldn't.
"Burgy!" Mettaton, my robot boss greeted me. 'Burgy' was a nickname for 'BurgerPants' which is what everyone calls me. I could care less what people called me, when the barrier breaks, I'll start again.
"Hey boss." I mumbled. The hotel was cold like it always would be in the furnace we call Hotland, and always seemed to hold the smell of a new house. Mettaton put his arm around my shoulder and quickly brought me to my stand.
"I'll be out all day today for a photoshoot with Alphys!" He exclaimed. "So I'll need you to be extra helpful with customers, okay?" I sighed. "Whatever you say."
"Oh, goody!" He quickly ran to the Core. I watched as all kinds of monsters started piling through the door. Sighing, I prepared for the day ahead.

Unknowingly, the young monster dropped the small box, it being so loose in his pocket. As he walked on, not noticing the slight decrease in weight, the other who came form Hotland picked up the small box.
Vulkin was ready to call to the unknown man who dropped it when the monster turned. Seeing that the small volcano had his ring, he could only assume Vulkin stole it.
"YOU!" He screeched. "THAT'S MINE!" Vulkin stared wide eyed as the monster charged at him. "N-No! It fell! I-" He was interrupted as a fist went right to his face.

"Im sorry, sir, I can't give you just ketchup." I said to the small skeleton. Sans smiled. "Awww, c'mon! Why not?" I sighed. Rolling my eyes, I answered him.
"Listen, I'd hate to scare away a customer, but if you aren't gonna order anything, GET OUT." Sans's eye glowed blue for half a nanosecond before he sighed.
"Fine. I'll get the mustard." I put my head in my paws. "SANS." I said, fed up. "My job is already hell, just order an actual meal or leave!"
From over his shoulder, I saw a figure run to their room. My ears perked up and the hairs on the back of my neck stood. I've seen hundreds of monsters run back and forth to their rooms.
Why did this one stand out?
"Um, excuse me!" A new customer took my attention. Muffet stood there, all six of her eyes glaring into my soul. Another blur of a monster from the door caught my eye but I couldn't look away from Muffet.
Hm. Why did that stand out, too?
Whatever.
