Chapter 9
Jimin
"Jungkook could you get some milk?"
He spoke to the bionic, who immediately turned and walked down the isle once the instruction left Jimin's mouth. The blond grabbed a cantaloupe with both of his hands at either side, and started weighing it and pressing into it.
No more then a few seconds later, Jungkook returned with a green-capped bottle. "Here."
"Um, no I meant to say the blue-capped one-" before he could finish, Jungkook walked away again. And of course, appeared next to Jimin in a couple of seconds with the said milk bottle in hand. "Wow, you're...really fast," Jimin breathed, his eyes fixated on Jungkook whilst he placed the milk in the basket.
The younger nodded. "I'm a newer model, so I have a longer list of skills. Although being fast is a general bionic feature."
Jimin raised an eyebrow. "Huh. So, what else can you do?"
"You should be asking what I can't do."
"Okay. Can you fly?"
"...no."
Jimin smiled at Jungkook, before turning away to place the cantaloupe into a small plastic bag and into the basket. "I'm only teasing. I'm sure you're very talented in many ways." He shifted the basket uncomfortably to carry the heavy items in a different position, the weight of his groceries indenting into the crook of his arm.
"Let me take them," Jungkook ushered, moving closer to the older.
"No, it's fine. I can manage."
"Just let me." Jimin didn't have time to refuse, before Jungkook gently eased the handle off of his arm, the bionic's slender fingers momentarily brushing his own as he held the basket to his side. "What else do you need?"
"I-I think that's it. Shall we go?"
Jimin began to make his way towards the checkout, but when he hadn't heard Jungkook follow, he looked over his shoulder. Jungkook had stopped, and was staring at some snacks on the shelf. The older walked up to him, and peered curiously at the item which had so easily caught the eye of this deadpan man. "Do you want it?"
Jungkook sharply inhaled, and then shook his head. "No, I just...it doesn't matter." He sullenly paced towards the checkouts with his head down, and Jimin grinned, before grabbing a couple of banana-chip bags and chasing after Jungkook.
After they paid, they walked out into the carpark and opened the boot to a small, Chevrolet baby-blue spark to drop off the bags, and as Jungkook went to sit in the passenger seat, Jimin stopped him. "We should buy you some clothes first from across the street. There's a really good thrift store I know, so we'll try there first," Jimin chirped, in an attempt to lighten to mood surrounding the two men. So Jungkook walked around the car and to Jimin's right side, and they crossed the street. Jimin eyed his bare attire, from his thin black dress-shirt to his black dress pants, all garments that did absolutely nothing to keep out the winter breeze and maintain any sort of bodily heat. "I'm sorry I didn't have a coat that fits you. It must be cold."
"It's okay. You couldn't have known what would happen, and that I'd even be here. And I'm wearing more than three layers of shirts."
Jimin paused, while he continued to eye the stoical man adjacent to him. "How old are you?"
"Eighteen."
"What?!" The older briefly stopped walking.
Jungkook didn't react, and only kept his eyes trailed ahead of him. "I'm eighteen years-old."
"How...how long have you been eighteen?"
For a moment, Jimin swore he saw the edges of his mouth slightly raise into a half-smile. "I'm not a vampire. Bionics do age. I've been eighteen for a couple of months."
"Do you have a birthday?"
"Probably? I'm referring to the day I woke up bionotised."
"Y-yes of course." Jimin felt slightly embarrassed at his lack of knowledge of the superhuman species, and scratched his head.
As if he read his mind, Jungkook replied, "You didn't know. You don't have to feel embarrassed."
"Yes, well, I guess even though I'm older I kinda feel...in a sense...younger?"
"What do you mean?"
"How do I put this...you're pretty quiet and stoical, and you seem pretty knowledgeable too so, I guess you could say you're a bit intimidating."
Jungkook met Jimin's eyes. "Do I intimidate you?"
"N-no, I mean...maybe in the beginning but that's only because you were...are, so straight forward."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"No no!" Jimin laughed to himself as he pushed open the door to a rather old looking, small store displaying a few mannequins in the front. "Unless you don't offend anyone it can be a good thing. It was just surprising, that's all. For a change, it's actually quite refreshing." He bowed towards the cashier, and took Jungkook around to the back of the store to where the men's clothing was. Rows of multi-coloured clothes hung from racks, and Jimin let his hand glide along the fabric, taking in the olden, rustic aroma surrounding them. He spotted a large, blue hoodie and pulled it off of its hanger. "Hey, look-"
When he turned back, he found that Jungkook had already gathered a pile of black garments and jeans and slung them over his arm. The younger perked up his head. "Yes?"
"Jungkook!" Jimin shook his head. "You can't wear black all the time!"
"Why not?"
"Because it would be such a waste? Here." Jimin found a few long t-shirts and held them up to Jungkook's body. "You see, I think even this neon pink suits you." After meeting Jungkook's uneasy face, Jimin laughed before lightly punching his arm. "Let's compromise then. We'll get a few blacks and a few of these."
Before Jungkook could answer, Jimin shoved the shirts, jeans and jackets he had picked out for him on top of the pile in his hands and pushed Jungkook into the dressing room. Then he opened the curtains a few moments later wearing a plain white tee, a khaki green bomber jacket with a grey hood and a pair of ripped blue jeans.
Jimin clapped his hands together, his smile growing painfully at the rising humane level in this individual before him. "I told you you'd look good in something other than black!" Jungkook looked in the mirror, and Jimin walked up to him and leant his chin on Jungkook's shoulder. He felt Jungkook stiffen. "But I think we need to buy you some more shoes," Jimin giggled with his hand clasped on both of Jungkook's arms, and moved his face away from his shoulder to check out the shelves full of shoes. There wasn't a lot to choose from, and as he focused, he felt someone tap his arm.
Jungkook had picked up a pair of light-brown winterboots and was holding them up to show Jimin. "How about these?"
Jimin's eyes widened. "A-actually, those look great. Go try them on."
Once Jungkook had speedily tied them onto both feet, he stood and let himself be inspected. "You look really good! That green really suits you!"
"Really?"
"I wouldn't lie to you. Funny how you won't accept money, but you seem okay with me buying you things."
The bionic looked down. "You gave me a direct order to stay with you...I physically can't refuse."
"Haha, sure," Jimin chuckled.
"You should try on some clothes too."
The older stopped smiling. "Me?! I've already got so many clothes."
"Well I thought maybe...never mind."
Jimin frowned as he recalled the same tone he had used at the supermarket. He closed the distance between the two. "Jungkook, if you want to say something then what's stopping you from saying it?"
Jungkook bit his top lip, and Jimin's gaze dropped to his mouth before he instinctively swiped his tongue across his own bottom lip. It was a habit which he tended to do, but in that moment Jimin felt slightly uneasy doing so.
The bionic looked away. "I thought it would be nice to see you wear that." He pointed towards a female mannequin wearing an oversized, beige knit jumper stating a large white bow hanging from the neckline.
Jimin chuckled. "You realise that that clothing was made for girls?"
Jungkook shrugged. "You told me to wear pink."
"Pink isn't just a girly colour though."
"Neither is that jumper."
Jimin shook his head and reached up to pinch the bionics cheeks. "Aish, okay! I'll ask the cashier to take it down for me."

Jungkook
While he stood with his hands in his pockets, Jungkook watched the worker strip the mannequin of its clothes, and he eyed Jimin's outfit which he had decided to wear that morning. He had a horizontally-striped black and white long sleeved top, and a lilac, fluffy oversized cardigan over black jeans and black shoes. He made a point to understand Jimin's clothing concepts, because he wanted a better understanding of what kind of person he was. So far, he had 'small, light and fluffy.'
Which was undeniably true.
Jimin held the outfit up to cover half his face as he entered the dressing room, and closed the curtain.
Jungkook found a stool to sit on, and he leant his elbows forwards onto his knees as he waited. Then he let out a breath which he didn't know he had been holding. When Jimin had propped his chin up onto his shoulder, the smell of raspberries had hit him like a tonne of bricks. When Jimin had so sweetly giggled into his ear, the sound had bounced off of the walls of his brain. Even that little gesture with the smaller's tongue had pushed him a little ways from feeling normal.
Was spending even this much time with a human changing him? He had only consciously known Jimin for less than a day and he already was experiencing so much compared to working in the factory. He felt like he was already changing, since being so directly involved with a human. But, then again, this had been what he wanted. To feel something other than nothing. And right then, he was sure what he was feeling was...nervousness.
"Tadah!"
His head lurched up when he heard the curtains slide against the metal pole. The jumper hung off his tiny frame perfectly, and he looked like a teddy-bear. The white bow had been moved to the left and was slightly off-centre, and with Jimin's funny expression of wiggling his eyebrows and his straight up child-like stance, Jungkook couldn't help but allow a surge of warmth envelope his lips.
Jimin gasped, and pointed his finger at him." You smiled!"
Blinking, in a clear state of confusion, Jungkook cleared his throat as he stood up from the stool to fix the bowtie on the jumper for the older man. Jimin stared at him as he reknotted the bow, and soon, his eyes disappeared as he grinned at Jungkook with a darn, cute expression.
...cute?
When he had successfully fixed the bow, Jimin asked, "Does it look better than what you had expected?"
"Yes."
"Good, because I think I might buy it. Also, you should start calling me hyung, since I am two years older than you."
"Okay, Jimin-hyung."
Jimin nodded brightly. "We just need to find you a coat, and then, we need to find you underwear."
