Chapter 50
Jimin
"Have you got everything?"
"Um...I think so..." The blonde man zipped his overnight bag before turning to the younger. Jungkook was wearing a loose white tee shirt and sweatpants, with a worried expression across his face. Jimin tried to smile, while reaching and gently rubbing his arm to comfort him. "Jungkook, I'll be back before you know it."
"It's dangerous. I should be coming with you." The bionic sucked in a heavy breath, almost glaring at the older who sighed before looking at his feet.
"If you went, you'd be in more trouble than I would be in."
"If I went, you'd be one hundred percent safe."
"One hundred percent?"
The younger paused. "Ninety two point seven percent safe."
Jimin smiled for real this time, tugging on the fabric of the bionics shirt while gazing up into his eyes. Jungkook then swooped in for a hug, wrapping his strong arms around the smaller while burying his head into the crook of his neck. Jimin sighed against him, and closed his eyes.
"Be safe," he heard the younger whisper.
"...I will."
"I love you."
The older bit his lip, as he felt the urge to cry become suddenly stronger. "I love you more."
Jungkook swiftly pulled away and looked down at Jimin with a frown. "How could you know that?"
"I just do," Jimin said teasingly.
"You can't say things like that hyung!"
The older stuck out his tongue. "I just did."
With a pained smile, Jungkook leant forward before pulling on Jimin's tongue with his lips. "Well, you shouldn't say things like that."
"Why not?"
The younger rested his chin on top of Jimin's head, inhaling as he spoke, this time seriously. "Jokes aside, I don't know much about love, and I don't know much about people per say. But if what I think I'm feeling is really as infinite as I think, then no level of measurement could be used to compare two people's love for one another."
Jimin squeezed his eyes shut, pushing his cheek as far against the bionics chest as possible.
"W-well that is, I'm presuming that you really feel the same about me too," the younger stuttered.
"Hehe, do you even need to question that?" Jimin leant back to softly press his lips against the younger's, closing his eyes as he felt himself melt against the taller man who clutched at his waist to support the weight of the kiss.
They pulled away, staring into each other's eyes. Jungkook was the one to break the silence. "I guess not."
Jungkook was right. Even without words, Jimin could feel it all, just by meeting the younger's intense gaze. No words were needed. And it gave Jimin the strength to move away from the bionic and head towards the door.
"Call me, as soon as you get there."
Jimin smiled. "I promise."
"Text me, on the way there."
"I will."
"Jimin, if anything happens-"
The younger looked down, his fists clenched at either side of him. Jimin walked back over, caressing his cheeks with his palms. "It'll be okay. I promise."
"How could you know that?"
"I...I don't. Just please know Kookie, that whatever happens don't give up hope. That's what eomma always told me."
He smiled to himself, while meeting the bionics dark, doe eyes. "If you believe that everything will be alright, then it will. So don't worry about me, 'kay?"
"That's impossible, hyung."
"Y-yeah, I just realized that."
Jungkook grinned, creating gentle crinkles around his eyes which never failed to warm the older's heart. "Just make sure to find Taehyung."
"We'll get to the bottom of all of this."
"I know. I love you hyung."
He felt himself blush. "Y-you said that already-!"
"I love you I love you I love you I love you-"
"Yah!"
Jungkook let out a carefree laugh as he enveloped Jimin in one last hug, and the older clung to the arms that coiled around him in affection, and love. "Say you love me back."
"I already did didn't I?"
"Then, say it again..."
"I did."
"When?"
Jimin took a step back, and lifted his eyes to meet Jungkook's. "Just now."
"What do you-"
"You don't know it, but I'm always saying it in my head." He smiled at the younger, who frowned in confusion. "I say it, everytime I look at you Kookie. So, you don't need to ever ask me to say it out loud, because it never leaves my mind."
"Hyung..." The bionics ears reddened, and his shoulders slumped in defeat at his response. "Okay."
"Aish you're so cute Jungkookie!"
"Hey!" Jimin laughed as he avoided the youngers arms, stepping outside his apartment with his bag slung around his arm. He looked back at the younger, who suddenly had a look of panic across his face. "H-hyung..."
"I love you Kookie. Me and Yoongi hyung are only going to be gone for a few days at most, so try not to miss me too much."
Jungkook swallowed, folding his arms as he leant against the doorframe. "That's also impossible."
Jimin stepped up on his toes to quickly peck his cheek. Then, he stepped back, and started to make his way down the apartment stairs.
The further away he got from the bionic, the heavier his heart felt. Somewhere deep down, he thought this was wrong, so incredibly wrong, and yet, needed.
When he reached the carpark, he jogged up to the silver car and jammed his bag into the boot before jumping into the front seat.
Yoongi had his arms leant against the wheel. "You ready Chim?"
Jimin looked up, staring at the bionic who gazed down from his balcony. And then he felt something warm fall down his face.
"Chim? Jimin?"
Jimin blinked, before wiping his eyes with his sleeve and strapping his seatbelt across his chest. Sniffing, he slowly looked back up, the pain in the eyes of the man he loved so clearly showering down from fifty feet above him.
"I'm fine."
"You're not, but when are we ever?" Yoongi shifted into gear and pulled out of the carpark, while Jimin turned in his seat with his palm pressed against the glass to watch the silhouette of the bionic disappear as they rounded the corner. This was it. There was no going back now.
He turned to face his front, and eyed his friend. "You look awful."
"Gee thanks."
"Taehyung will be fine, hyung."
Yoongi's brow twitched, his eyes shifting to his right for a brief moment before they turned back to the road in front of them. "Yeah well, we'll see when we get there."
"Yeah." They were silent for a while, with no radio, and only the sound of the car moving against the asphalt present to fill the silence between the two men. "Hyung?"
"Yeah?"
"So, you and Taehyung-"
Yoongi groaned, rolling his eyes. "Don't finish that sentence."
"But why? So you two aren't together, technically?"
"Why are you asking questions like that? What are we, seven years old?"
"I just want to know how much you like him, since you're going an awful length for him."
"...I am, aren't I?"
"Hyung, you aren't someone who generally likes to be out of his comfort zone. So Taehyung must at least be on a level of puppy love to make you do this."
"Puppy love?"
"Or, a crush? He likes you too."
"How can he? He's a bionic. He even said himself that he couldn't feel even if he wanted too. Which I replied by saying that's stupid because he must feel what he was able to identify so he was just being indenial-" Yoongi stopped talking, and glanced at Jimin who had an eyebrow raised. "S-so, how's it going with the bionic?"
"That's what I was asking you."
"Jimin."
"Ahahaha I'm kidding! Kidding..."
"So?"
"It's going...perfectly. That's why I'm worried, hyung." The blonde leant back in his seat, watching as the skyscrapers and tall buildings slowly started to dissipate as they hit the motorway. "The further away I am from him, the more worried I get because I have no idea what's going on."
"That's another reason why we're going there."
"I wish we could just teleport there. If they can bring people back to life then they can invent teleportation."
"They don't just bring back dead people, they sometimes bionotize some who were alive."
"Taehyung?"
Yoongi nodded. "Yeah."
"Wow."
They both fell into more silence, and Jimin took this opportunity to gaze over his friend. When he said he looked terrible, he wasn't kidding. The bags under his eyes were significantly darker in contrast to his ghastly pale skin, and Jimin swore Yoongi had gotten thinner in the past couple weeks with the absence of the orange haired bionic. He looked...in pain.
Jimin leant out to turn on the radio, and the car quietly sang with music that Jimin honestly didn't care about. All he wanted was to...sleep. Sleep away the time between departure and arrival to that horrid place. Make the journey quicker somehow. "I'm gonna take a nap. Wake me up in an hour so I can take over driving."
"You don't need to worry about that-"
"Hyung, you need sleep too."
Yoongi sighed. "Fine."
He rolled over onto his side, the world streaking by the window in flashes of greens and greys. Then he closed his eyes.
Soon, this would all be over. Picturing his bunny smile, and his warmth, Jimin sadly smiled to himself before allowing his body to relax, the music slowly dying out around him as he entered a dreamworld.
A safe haven.
