Chapter 5
Jimin
For the past half hour, Jimin had done everything in his power to heat up the beautiful stranger. He had found some old-fashioned hand warmers and stuffed them inside the blankets, he had found pillows and created a little nest surrounding him, and he even considered filling up the tub with warm water and simply just dumping the guy in there...but he knew that would be taking it too far.
But then again, how far could he already take this situation? Jimin had found a man almost frozen to death outside of a convenience store, and manually tried to warm him up without any sort of electricity to aid him. He had no idea who he was, and he had never, ever seen him around the neighbourhood. Was this some sort of bachelor party gone wrong? Or could he be an infamous criminal?
Jimin shook his head. He recognized the tattoo; the stranger was a bionic, he was sure of it.
"Arghhhhh! What do I do, what do I do...?!"
Jimin paced back and fourth, unsure of how to face what would come. Just where had this man come from?! He stormed across the room towards where he had propped the man up in the corner, still wrapped in blankets, and sat cross-legged in front of him.
And then he just watched him. He could hear the steady ticking of his watch as he stared at the man, waiting for something to happen. Jimin was glad to finally see some color in the man's face. He could now see that he wasn't actually as pale as perhaps Yoongi, or himself for that matter, but Jimin still worried since his lips were slightly lacking in hue. And when he placed the back of his hand against the stranger's cheek, he was appalled to feel how the sickly coldness of his skin hadn't faded.
Jimin pinched the bridge of his nose, and checked his wrist for the time.
20:34
Surprisingly, it wasn't as late as he had thought. But with all that had happened, it was no wonder why he had thought what he had.
Jimin stood up to make some tea. He really, really needed some tea. Like, really really. The last time he had stressed so much over anything was during his finals. He did not want to relive that period of his life. He mentally cursed himself for leaving the groceries behind, because he had no milk.
So he decided to drink it cold and black, and to be honest, it was pretty bad.

He could feel his arm slipping from beneath him, and he launched his hands out to grab both sides of the table to stop himself from falling. In the end, the power hadn't turned back on, and he had resorted to using candles, placing them strategically around his kitchen. He checked the time again.
22:03
Gosh, he was so tired. He needed to sleep. Maybe the initial panic had tired him out more than he had thought it would. But he felt wrong about sleeping, and leaving the man out here with almost nothing. It wasn't like they could share a bed....he had read somewhere that the best way to warm up was to use skin-to-skin contact, but that kind of intimacy wasn't something that Jimin felt comfortable doing. Besides, he had spent some more time watching the stranger, and after checking his temperature change, he could definitely say that the man was beginning to warm up to a safe degree.
Standing from his seat, he began rummaging through his things, occasionally glancing to his left to check up on his house-guest, and pulled out an old futon. He laid it next to the radiator, and walked over to the man wrapped in blankets to drag him over next to the heater.
Once successfully atop the futon, he walked around his kitchen to blow out the candles, and before he entered complete darkness, he eyed the man for a couple moments more, and then he blew out the last tiny flame.
He made his way down the hallway and towards the bedroom, and without even undressing, he allowed his tired body to hit the soft sheets below him before falling into a deep sleep.

Blue lights surrounded my body, and I could make out tiny micro-lasers that were embedded into the walls of the cylindrical object encasing me. I felt a strange sting working its way down my arms, and down my legs to reach my toes, and I had a want to move. My limbs felt achy, like I had never moved before, but still I lifted my arms and pushed with what little energy I had against the walls of the pod.
To my surprise, the front of the pod started to open, and a figure peered inside, along with a bright light.
"You can come out now. It's about time you decided to wake up."
I breathed in, inhaling a sweet first breath, and hastily grabbed both sides of the pod in an attempt to free myself of this contraption. As I sat up, I took sight of a tall man with wide shoulders wearing a white labcoat, and waited for him to finish with whatever papers he was reading to face me. When he did turn around, I also took sight of his soft features, and he nodded towards me.
"So, how do you feel?"
I tried to speak, but when I did, a weird straddled noise escaped my throat. Was that...me?
The man in the labcoat gestured towards me again. "That's okay, just take it slow. You're in no rush at the moment." He walked over to me and moved the hair away from my eyes. "My name is Seokjin. But for you, you can just call me Jin, it'll be easier for you."
This time when my mouth opened, I was finally able to speak. "Where am I?" So, that was my voice?
"I introduced myself just now you know?"
I blinked. "Jin..."
The corners of his mouth tilted upwards, and I leaned forward in anticipation. "Yes?"
"Where am I?"
"...What do I do with you..." He breathed in. "Before I answer you, I need to ask you a few things. Is that okay?"
I nodded.
He took a seat next to me, and with a pen in one hand and some paper in the other, he started to ask informative questions. "Do you know what I am?"
"A human?"
"What color is my hair?"
"Pink."
"What day is Christmas?"
"December 25th."
"Do you like chocolate?"
"Yes but, I don't like sweets too much."
"What! What is wrong with you-" He sighed. "Still, thank god we don't have to start from the basics with you," Jin mumbled to himself, scratching his chin. "Do you remember anything or anyone from before you woke up?"
I shook my head.
"All I will say for now is that, you're not human, at least not anymore. You used to be human before you took your own life. Do you remember that?"
I'm not human? And I committed suicide?
"I'll take your silence as a no. It's probably for the best that you can't remember."
"If I'm not human," I pause, and my shoulders began to shiver with the sudden realisation that I was at a loss of identity, "then what am I?"
"You've become what we call a bionic super human."
"What? You've got to be kidding me."
"You don't know what they are? I'm pretty sure everyon-"
"I KNOW I know-" I took in another deep breath "-I know what they are, but Hyung...my head isn't coming around this, this situation."
Jin just sat there on his stool, thinking, before he asked me another question. "Don't you think science is amazing? You can't remember anything of who you used to be and yet, you remember basic, factual information. It's incredible what a person with the intelligence and skills can do, and the control they must have to make this happen is just amazing. Don't you think so?"
"So, you made sure that I couldn't remember my past?"
Jin shrugged. "It was essential; unfortunately, it could affect your present goal. It's nothing personal, just necessary. Besides," he stood up, faced his back towards me and picked up a syringe, "you're not who you used to be. That person doesn't exist anymore. You've become an entirely new person."
"I'm still confused hyung. Who am I?"
He swerved around, with the syringe still between his fingers. "What seems the most familiar since waking up? There must be a name, a single name, which you can remember. It will feel right, just right, when you say it out loud."
"Hyung, what is that?"
"It's the final improvement. You'll feel the effects immediately."
As the cold, gelid needle pierced my skin, and the clear liquid streamed through my veins, all my anxiety and worries dematerialized, and despersed past a barrier which I would soon later regret having placed up.
I felt calm, and content. Content.
Jin took a step back, admiring his work. "That does it, the last piece of the puzzle. Version 5.2 has been synthesi-"
"-Jungkook."
"Pardon?"
I looked up.
"I think my name was Jungkook."
