Chapter 32
Jimin
His eyes opened slowly, and the white ceiling above him came into view. His heart felt heavy, and when he turned over onto his side, the weight on his chest only seemed to get heavier.
Groaning, Jimin buried his face into his pillow. Why did I act like that?
It was Christmas Day today. This wasn't how he wanted to wake up on what's supposed to be a joyous day.
Jungkook...oh man.
Jimin rolled over onto his other side, squishing the quilts between his body as he reluctantly tried to accept the facts that he had been the one to overreact. And it was all because he couldn't control his feelings for the bionic. How had he even come to like Jungkook? He was undeniably attracted to him, but that could only go so far.
"I should...apologize." Speaking outloud the unsaid verity seemed to make getting out of bed and walking to the living room a lot easier. "Kookie?"
The futon was made, and there was a bag on the sofa with a card attached to it, but no Jungkook. Jimin was curious as to what was in the bag, but he left it to search for the bionic instead. "Jungkook?"
He called out his name, but no reply.
"Yah? Where are you?"
Jimin opened the bathroom door to find another empty room, and he started to panic.
"H-hey come on, this isn't funny Kookie."
Unlocking the front door, he stepped outside his apartment as he felt his heart race in dread. He didn't...run away did he? Did he leave? Jimin knew that they had argued but he didn't think that it had maybe affected the bionic at all-
As he turned to the stairwell, he tripped over a sturdy object and fell flat on his face.
"Hyung?!"
Jungkook?
Instantly Jimin was pulled from the ground, and he found himself facing the bionic who was checking his body for injuries. "Did you hurt yourself?"
Jimin winced when the bionic grabbed his hands and turned them over to check his palms; his skin was slightly grazed and red. Jimin felt...relieved. So Jungkook was only outside? "What are you doing out here?"
"O-oh, um...didn't you read the card?"
The one on the sofa attached to the bag? "No, I was trying to find you," the older mumbled.
Jungkook nervously scratched his head, and that was when Jimin took notice of the bionics fully clothed body as if he was getting ready to journey out somewhere. Then he felt a lump in the back of his throat, and he suddenly started to feel very miserable.
"So you WERE going to leave?"
"I...I thought it would be better-"
"We fight one time and you think it's better to leave?"
"N-no hyung, I've troubled you too much as it is. It's better for me to leave you to your lives-"
"You don't get to decide shit!"
"I-I...!" Jungkook was clearly taken back by Jimin's sudden tone of voice as well as his heavy words.
Jimin felt his lip tremble, and he turned away with folded arms. "You didn't do anything wrong...I'm sorry I argued with you last night."
"No I'm sorry I-"
"You don't need to be sorry Kookie, I was in the wrong! Whenever I like someone I start to overreact-"
"Like?"
"W-whenever I care about someone."
"You still care about me?"
Jimin sighed to himself. "I know I was angry last night but that doesn't mean I hate you now, or like you any less." He paused, his back still facing the bionic. "That's how it works Kookie: fight, make up, leave it behind. If people never could reconcile then we would be living in a very angry, lonely world."
"Right...I'm sorry. I thought you maybe hated me."
"No, never!" Jimin almost yelled, appalled that the bionic could even fathom that, as the older had trouble doing so himself. "I was just caught up in my feelings and lashed out at you! I'm sorry for that...again."
He heard rustling behind him, and found Jungkook sat down on the floor with his back leant against the balcony wall. "Jiminie?"
He missed that nickname. Jimin sat down crossed-legged in front of the bionic, and looked down at the ground. His feet were so much smaller than the bionics. "Yes?"
"I...I ran away because..."
"What?"
Jungkook swallowed, and leant his elbow on his knee. "When we kissed, I mean...I've never done that before. And I lost myself when it happened..."
Jimin intently listened to the bionic, who had his fist and jaw clenched.
"I definitely didn't hate it. It was the complete opposite, and that was what scared me. I didn't understand it, but I still...liked it. What's the nature of a kiss? I still have yet to even know..." Jungkook paused, before looking up to meet Jimin's unwavering stare. "I've never felt anything but...content, since becoming a bionic. And I didn't know how to handle what I was feeling-"
Jimin nodded, and immediately felt incredibly shameful. Of course I was only thinking about how I was feeling...
"And also, I already broke a promise...which goes against my nature too..."
Jimin frowned. "Huh? What promise?"
"I told Yoongi-hyung that I wouldn't touch you."
Jimin smiled, and traced the ground with his fingernails. "Don't worry about him, he won't actually kill you."
"Okay..."
"Well, maybe not if I'm around."
"Huh?!"
"I'm kidding!" Jimin giggled, "It'll be fine, he's not a bad person." The bionic breathed out, and Jimin took notice of his red ears and pale lips. "Kookie, how...long have you been out here?"
"Since 4?"
"What?!"
"I-I was going to leave while you slept, but I realised I had nowhere to go. And, and I didn't, don't, want to leave you yet."
Jimin smiled, and stood up with his hand out to the bionic. "Yeah, it's a good thing too. You can't leave me alone, especially not today."
Jungkook looked up at the hand. "So, am I allowed to stay a bit longer?"
"I never wanted you to leave in the first place. Now get up."
The bionic smiled gently, and grabbed his hand to be pulled up to his feet. "We're both guilty of overreacting I guess..."
Jimin laughed nervously. "Come on. We have presents to open."
He grabbed pulled Jungkook into his apartment and shut the door behind him. Even though they both were a little confused with their feelings, it didn't mean they didn't care for each other. God, he felt so stupid. He couldn't believe how much of a drama-king he must've looked like. Turning on the kettle, he glanced over to the bionic who had taken a seat at the table.
He was glad that Jungkook was new to all this. As bad as that sounds, he really was relieved. Otherwise he would have caught on to his confession earlier on.
"Hey Kookie?" The bionic looked up, and met Jimin's eyes with his own adorable ones that shone with an innocence which Jimin found so special. "M-Merry Christmas."

Jungkook
Pulling out a black duffle bag from the wrapping paper, the bionic smiled.
Jimin eagerly leaned forward on his knees as he watched Jungkook inspect his gift. "You're starting your job tomorrow, and you'll need something to put your change of clothes in."
"It's great, thank you Hyung." Reaching into his back pocket, he pulled out the small keychain with the pink bunny attached to the chain.
"You still have that?" the older gasped.
"Of course hyung, I just never had anything to put it on." In a couple seconds, the keyring had been looped onto the handle, and Jungkook's smile wasn't brimming down anytime soon.
"D-do you really like it that much?"
He nodded. "Yes..." Jungkook passed Jimin a round, perfectly wrapped gift. "I got you something too."
"What? You didn't have to..."
"I did. I'm sorry I couldn't get you anything expensive..."
The sound of paper ripping came from beside him, and before he knew it Jimin had already unwrapped his gift. The older started to giggle, and Jungkook could feel his ears start to burn. The yellow dog plushie with it's large face and small brown ears stared at Jungkook as Jimin held it up to his face. "It's so cute! Where did you even find this?" Jimin grinned widely as he gazed at the plush toy with his prescious crescent eye smiles.
"I just found it somewhere in a store," he lied.
"I'm calling him Chimmy. Chummy Chimmy!"
Jimin couldn't stop giggling, and Jungkook felt slightly uneasy. "Is it too silly?"
"What? No it's perfect Kookie!"
The blonde man beamed at him with rosy cheeks, and Jungkook immediately felt himself engulfed in such a warm feeling. Jimin was so cute. And once again he found himself unable to look away from him.
Jimin abruptly turned to him, and Jungkook finally looked away. Why was he so nervous? "It's a shame I couldn't prepare some sort of Christmas meal."
"We should go out."
"Yeah! I'll ask if Taemin and Yoongi hyung are busy."
Jungkook thought back to his bionic friends. It wasn't like bionics would celebrate any kind of occasion, but he was hoping they were doing well. Now that he had started to feel more alive, he knew now that he missed his friends. And all the same Jungkook wished he could see them.
"I'm gonna call them later. Should we put on a Christmas movie? Me and Jihyun used to do this every year."
Jungkook smiled. "Yeah, let's do that."
