Chapter 22

Jimin

Himself and Jungkook had stayed a couple hours with his mother, and Jimin told her about the past couple weeks. He had mentioned Taemin's visit to him, and other things, but he left out the fact that he had found Jungkook in the snow half dead. He didn't want to worry her anymore than he probably had.

"So Jungkook. Tell me about yourself."

Jimin looked up when he heard his mother address the bionic.

"What would you like to know?" Jungkook replied.

"Hmm. Do you have a girlfriend?"

"Eomma...!" Jimin commented.

Jungkook shook his head in reply. "We don't exactly have relationships."

"Oh? Why not? Is there a strict rule against it?"

Jimin mentally face-palmed at his mother's lack of knowledge. "N-no, eomma it's not really that."

Then Jungkook spoke, "We were made to, not feel emotional, so having a relationship is impossible."

Sunhee squinted at Jungkook. "So, you can't feel anything right now?"

"No, I can."

"But I thought you said bionics don't feel anything?"

"I'm...different. The reason why I had to leave the factory was because I started to feel."

"So you could have a girlfriend?"

"Eomma!!" Jimin face-palmed in real life this time. He removed his hand from his face when he heard Jungkook laugh; it really was such a lovely sound. How could something so soft and innocent come from a placid man like himself?

"I suppose I could. But it would make no sense in doing so if I'm going back to the factory."

"Why not? You could do long distance?"

Jimin felt rather sheepish stood there with his complex feelings for Jungkook in his hands, and his mother talking to Jungkook about having a girlfriend right in front of him. He moved his hands behind his back.

"Eomma, I think you're making him feel uncomfortable-"

"What? Jungkook do you feel uncomfortable right now?"

Jungkook smiled blissfully, and Jimin's heart throbbed from that bliss. "No, noona."

Sunhee smacked Jimin over the head again, and he winced at the sudden strike. "See? Don't tell me what I already know! Now Jungkook-" She leaned forward in anticipation, like an excited 8-year old boy on Christmas day, "what tricks can you do?"

"Tricks?"

"Show me what's so special about you!"

Jimin sat down on the bed besides his mother, and looked up at Jungkook, who back  glanced at him, unsure of what to do. "I...I'm fast?"

"Oh I know about that kind of stuff. I mean, I meant show me what's special about you."

Jimin gulped and spoke up. "Jungkook, you don't have to."

His mother shushed him, and looked at Jungkook in curiosity. But the bionic just remained stood by the bed, his eyes lost and distant. "I don't, have anything special about me..."

"Oh I'm sure you do! Can you sing?"

"Sing?"

"You know, sing a song. Jimin show him!"

"But-" Jimin tried to argue.

"Go on he's just your friend, you don't have to be embarrassed!"

"Um...okay." He looked up at Jungkook who was expressionless, and opened his mouth. He started to sing the song which had been on the radio from that morning, and he thought he would have felt more nervous, but he surprisingly felt comfortable protuding his vocal chords in front of the bionic.
He sung the chorus, and when he finished, he looked to Jungkook who wasn't saying anything.

Sunhee raised an eyebrow. "So, do you think you can?"

Jimin blushed. "Eomma, if he's never sang before then how is he supposed to sing well on his first try?"

"Oh fine, you're off the hook this time mister!" She pointed at Jungkook, who slowly nodded with the same blank expression.

A nurse walked into the room and spoke, "Mrs Park, the doctor will examine you soon."

Sunhee nodded, and pulled Jimin into a hug. Jimin had missed her smell; she smelt like flowers, nothing like the hospital. "I'll see you soon. Call me if anything happens."

"I will. I'll visit really soon I promise." He kissed her head, and stood back up.

She turned to Jungkook, and smiled at him. "I'll hopefully see you soon too I suspect?"

"Only if you would like me too."

"Of course I would! You still owe me a song." She waved them off when the nurse came over to adjust the bed, and they both walked out the room.

Jimin breathed out, and closed his eyes. Get yourself together.

"Hyung?" Jungkook was looking at him questioningly.

"I-I'm fine! Um," they started walking towards the elevator, "I love my eomma to pieces, but people have said that she's rather lively."

"She's great. She reminds me of you."

"Really?"

The elevator stopped at the ground floor, and they waited for it to go up. "You're both really similar."

"I look up to my mom. She's been through so much, so to be compared to her means a lot. Thank you." Jimin smiled at him, and walked into the elevator when the door opened. "Also, I'm considering not taking you with me the next time I visit."

"What? Why?"

"Because I've never been wacked over the head so many times. I think I have a concussion."

Jungkook smiled. "That wasn't my fault."

"Yes it was! She was basically showing her authority more because you were around!" A large group of people gathered behind them, most likely a visiting family. They both awkwardly shuffled from suddenly being engulfed in strangers. Jimin coughed slightly. "And she thinks you're really good looking, so it hurt even more."

"Am I really?"

"Yes, well, that's what she thinks."

"What about you?"

The door opened, and Jimin managed to say "it doesn't matter what I-" before the family pushed them into the elevator. Jimin yelped at the sudden contact and Jungkook allowed himself to be washed away into the elevator before the doors closed.
In such a small space with a lot of people crammed in, Jimin found himself pinned up to the wall next to an older man who's elbow was digging into his ribs. "E-excuse me ahjussi...could you maybe move a bit please." The man hadn't heard his small plea over the loud conversation erupting from the family. His face burned from  embarrassment, and he sucked in his gut to spare his ribs from the painful digging motion from his elbow. "K-Kookie?" he called out for the bionic.

Then he felt someone grab his arm and pull him past the man and into the other corner.

The man turned around after being shoved forward. "Excuse you?"

The bionic bowed, and pulled Jimin towards him. "Sorry ahjussi." Jimin hid his face in Jungkook's chest, and rubbed his ribs painfully.

The man made a sound of disapproval, then turned back around to speak with his family. Jimin sighed, "...thanks, I was in a painful position." Then he felt Jungkook's arms wrap around his waist, and he gasped slightly. "H-hey?! What are you doing?"

Jungkook stared straight, and only pulled him closer. "Making sure you aren't crushed."

His heart sped up quickly. "B-but technically, you're squishing me right now. I'm fine you can let go of me now." He moved backwards, but Jungkook's arms didn't move. "Yah! Let go!"

"Most likely those doors will open a few more times, more people will enter, and if I let you go then you will definitely get squished. It'll be less painful if I keep you close like this."

"Y-yeah okay fair enough..." He couldn't argue with his unbreakable logic. But still...did he have to hold him so tightly?

Sure enough, the elevator continued upwards to other floors, and a few more people stepped into the elevator. The family in front of them moved back, pushing the older further into the bionic. One of the family members harshly stepped into Jimin's leg, and he winced slightly.
Jungkook swivelled them around, so Jimin now had his back to the wall with the bionic in front.

The person only continued to move against his back, and Jimin could feel the pressure as he was pushed more into him. "Kookie you don't have to, like, protect me," Jimin said quietly. He felt so stupid having to be saved physically, and he looked down.

"It doesn't really hurt me. Jiminie-hyung if I can help then I always will."

"But I can look after myself!"

Jungkook paused. "Do you want me to move away? Am I making you uncomfortable?"

He started to panic. "No no it's not like that! I just feel bad depending on you all the time..."
And because if we stay this close any longer I'm going to explode.

The elevator started to move down, and Jimin grabbed onto his arm to steady himself.

"It's what I was made for hyung. And if it's any consolidation, I want to help you."

"Yeah but..."

The elevator final started to empty out, and Jimin found himself able to breathe again. He moved away from the bionic, and he could feel his face go hot. Jungkook's smell made him dizzy everytime.

"Hyung?"

"C-come on, let's go home now." He grabbed the bionics hand and marched them out of the hospital.

sorry for this chapter, it's a bit weak 😅
