Chapter 21

i can't get this song out my head. literally has been on repeat for about half an hour 💛

Jungkook

He hadn't been expecting...whatever Jimin had just done. Jungkook had felt so, so nervous, and he didn't know what his hyung was trying to do; Jimin said he had tried to help the bionic discover a new sense of happiness?

It had definitely made Jungkook...incredibly happy.

Fiery and feathery, like a million tiny flames caressing his body, the younger could still feel Jimin's touch across his abdomen and his chest, and his heart wasn't resting. Whatever had just occurred...all Jungkook knew was that that was something different to a hug, and it was far from platonic. Completely. He didn't know what he was feeling exactly, but he knew enough to say that while a hug was close and friendly...this was, so much more. So, so different.

And it had happened again. The same foreign feeling had spread across his body and smoked his mind, making him feel hazy and close to intoxication. Jungkook was sure he was feeling high, because he definitely felt it, from the heat left behind from Jimin's lips, and so he fell back onto the sofa. He just felt so weird. So strange, sweaty, and craving more...more of, their intimacy. That's what he was feeling. He wanted more. More of Jimin.
He had only intended to get back at Jimin for suddenly kissing his neck, but he didn't expect to enjoy it as much as he had. His sweet, berry smell. And his sweet voice. Jungkook suddenly wanted to hear it again.

His thoughts brought him back to his last conversation with Taehyung, and they had mentioned Namjoon's interest in a scientist.
Was this what he was feeling?
Interest?

That word didn't do his needs justice.

His needs? What did he need?

After that thought, Jimin walked back into the room, covering his neck with his hand. Jungkook sat up straight, and watched as he sat besides him with a pink tint to his cheeks.
And no one spoke, for a while. Just the sound of the ticking from the clock and their restless breathing could be heard.

"So...Jungkook?"

"Yes hyung?"

Jimin smirked. "What happened to Jimin-ssi?"

"Hyung!"

Jimin laughed, and punched his arm. "I was only teasing! So we have Jiminie and Jimin-ssi." He looked at Jungkook. "I like this."

Jungkook swallowed, and moved his neck forward. " Hyung, what was that?"

Jimin's smile died, and he too swallowed. "I already told you, I was helping you discover other things. Did you? By any chance?"

"Yes," he breathed out, and looked at Jimin again. "I have it figured out now."

He watched as Jimin's fists balled on top of his knees. "Really? Do you...do you understand it?"

Jungkook nodded. "Yes."

Jimin sighed, and scratched his head. "Right, that's good. I'm glad I could make you happy."

Jungkook eyed him, and sighed too. "I understand it, but I'm not sure what to do with them. My feelings, that is."

The blonde man faintly smiled. "You can only do what you want to do, what you want."

What I want...

Jungkook bit his lip, and looked up.

Do I want him?

He shook his head and looked back down. No way he could. He would be asking too much of Jimin to go along with his fancies. What he really wanted...he could never ask. Never.

"I think...I want a job."

Jimin's eyes widened. "A job? You don't need one, I have the money-"

"No, I have to do more to pay you back. I want to contribute, pay for my stay. Breakfast in bed can only go so far." He grinned at Jimin, who sighed and smiled back.

"If you really want one, I can go with you tomorrow to the job centre and we can ask for what's available."

"Sure, I'll need a ride."

Jimin scoffed. "You? Need a ride? Don't make me laugh! You could probably run across Asia if it wasn't cold!"

Jungkook laughed and lightly shoved Jimin. "I know, it was a joke."

Jimin laughed back, his eyes turning into little crescents. "Ohhhhh, so you're making jokes now?"

Jungkook's grin spread wider. "If it'll make you laugh. Your laugh is lovely."

There it was again. That flush of colour blooming against his cheeks. Jungkook couldn't get enough.

"So is yours...you have a really nice laugh. It was nice to hear it!"

"Oh yeah, I just laughed." Jungkook turned to him, and laughed again. "I laughed!"

Jimin was laughing uncontrollably now, and was grabbing his arm to stop himself from falling over. "You did! You can't possibly be a bionic if you laughed, Kookie you're so adorable!"

These feelings, these warm feelings: Jungkook didn't want to let them go. That warmth only spread when he looked at the small blonde human, who looked so beautiful clutching to his arm with such a mesmerising smile painted across his face.

"It's almost time to eat. Should we go maybe find a restaurant and eat there?"
Jimin stood up, stretched, and turned around with his arm out to help him stand.

Maybe he was wrong. Maybe he didn't understand what he was feeling.
All he knew was that being around Jimin, he felt happy. And he didn't want it to end.

"I'm really feeling korean barbeque!"

He didn't want this to end.

They walked out of the job centre, with a sheet of paper in Jungkook's hand and the other in his pocket.

"I didn't think you'd choose that. I thought maybe you'd choose to work at a garage or maybe a gym, something a bit more intense."
Jimin breathed on his hands to warm them up.

Jungkook shrugged as they crossed the street towards Jimin's car. "It's different. I usually was assigned to work in maybe a garage or a gym when I was at the factory, but I wanted to try this out." He paused. "So you think I'm intense?"

Jimin laughed and smacked his arm playfully. "You know what I meant!"

Jungkook smiled.

"You're a bionic who's really strong and fast, it makes sense to choose a job that suits your abilities!" They jumped into the car, and Jimin turned on the thermostat to warm up. "It's freezing today."

"It is December now."

"Yeah it is, there are already Christmas decorations everywhere," Jimin said whilst pointing at a nicely decorated shop with reindeer in the front. "I need to get a Christmas tree soon."

"Aren't you celebrating with your family?"

"Oh I am, but I still need to buy a Christmas tree for the apartment! Everyone has one, or should have one!"

Jungkook nodded, and watched Jimin tap his fingers against the wheel to the beat of the song on the radio. "Hyung, what do you do for a job?"

"I'm going to be a dance teacher for middle school children."

"So, you like dancing?"

Jimin grinned and nodded. "I love dancing. I wanted to go professional, but I knew with my...family, I wouldn't be able to see them often. And besides, kids can be cute and I still get to dance. So I win either way!"

"What did you mean about family?"

"Uh yeah, my mother, she has leukaemia so she needs treatments a lot. It's not aggressive, but it gets worse when it's winter. And my brother, he doesn't visit her." He thought for a moment. "It's been a while since I visited. Jungkook," he started, "do you want to meet my mom?"

"Is...is that okay?"

"Of course! My eomma is great!" Jimin had a bright expression when he spoke, and Jungkook savoured it.

"Then, I'll be honoured."

"You sound like an old man!" Jimin smiled as he pulled into the hospital car park. They walked into the building and to the front desk, and Jimin spoke to the nurse there.

"Hey noona! I'm here to see my mother again! I brought a friend this time, is that okay?"

The nurse smiled. "Of course it is! You know where to find her Jimin!"
Jungkook bowed to her and Jimin waved, then they made their way to the elevator.

Jungkook turned to him. "Do you know her?"

"Yep, I was here so often at one point that I got used to some of the workers here."
The elevator dinged, and they both entered. When Jimin pressed the third floor button, Jungkook took notice of his tapping fingers.

"Do you still have the song in your head?"

"What? Oh, no, I always get nervous coming here."

"I thought you were used to it and the people here?"

"It's...it's more like...I know my mother's case isn't as serious as others, but I still have a constant worry that something could happen at any moment. I only feel relieved when I see her." He smiled into the elevator reflection. "You're definitely gonna like her."

They stepped out of the elevator, and walked down a few corridors before Jimin stopped at a door. And when he slid it open, the woman laid in the bed immediately put down her book and attempted to sit up.
Like on cue, Jimin rushed over to her to help her, and they hugged. "Sorry I haven't been able to visit lately! I've been caught up in a lot of things!"

His mother laughed and smacked his head. "Yah! I actually was glad because it seemed like you took my advice for once and went out and had a life!"

"Eomma!" Jimin laughed back, and kissed her forehead. His mother locked eyes with Jungkook, and looked really surprised to see someone other than her son. "Ah! This is Jungkook, he's...my friend." He pulled Jungkook over, who wasn't sure what to do or say.

"Hmm...your friend you say?"

"Uh, yeah! He's actually staying with me because of complications."

"Complications?"

"He's, uh, a bionic, and the factory kicked him out and- Ow!"

Jimin's mother smacked his head again and laughed. "So much happened to you in just a couple weeks? Hey, Jungkook!"

Jungkook stood straight. "Y-yes noona?"

"Come over here."

He walked over, and his arm was grasped by the woman before she pulled him down to his knees. Then she kissed him on the cheek. He heard Jimin gasp, "eomma!" and before the younger's eyes widened.

His mother only grinned. "What? I had to thank him for hanging out with you! It's been a few years since you've made friends with anyone new, and done something exciting!"

"Wait, you didn't even hear all I had to say!"

She shrugged. "The words 'bionic' and 'kicked out' was enough to make me assume. So, you're staying with my Jimin?"

"Yes noona."

"Just call me Sunhee." She leant over to whipser to Jimin. "He's really good looking."

Jimin whispered back with a blush on his face. "Eomma, you realise he can hear you? He's a bionic remember."

She scoffed, and turned to Jungkook. "You didn't hear me did you?"

"No noona."

"See? You're just embarrassed of your eomma! And I told you to call me Sunhee!"

Jimin stood up, and looked to Jungkook with a smile. Then he mouthed the word 'sorry'.
Jungkook shook his head, looked at Sunhee, then smiled back at Jimin before mouthing back 'you were right. She's great.'
Jimin smiled brightly at his comment, his blush never leaving his cheeks as they gazed into each others eyes.

Then Sunhee spoke up. "You know I can see you two staring at each other! Now tell me what I've missed!"

Jimin and Jungkook laughed.
