Chapter 17
Taehyung
He was sat perched on Yoongis front steps with the sky fading into a dark blue, waiting for the go ahead that he was forgiven and allowed to go back inside the apartment. His coat was soaked from the thick snow which had started to fall not too long ago so the fabric now clung to his skin, and the tip of his nose had probably frosted over.
It wasn't like he had anywhere else to go. Yoongi had been letting him sleep on the couch for the past couple of weeks since it saved him traveling a few miles from the nearest hotel. His client had been fine with it as long as he stuck by the rule of 'no entering his room at all times'.
That morning, Taehyung hadn't exactly abided by that rule. Well, he hadn't at all.
Yoongi had been late coming downstairs on time, and he knew that he wasn't allowed to enter his room, but he had been knocking on his door for a while with only occasional grunts in reply, so Taehyung had entered anyway. One of the new rules from Taehyung's side was that Yoongi had to be out of bed before nine O'clock, at least.
When he did, his arm moved like lightning to catch the flying book heading his way on reflex.
"Hyung-"
"Yah! GET OUT!"
In the middle of the room, Yoongi was stood half dressed without his shirt on, and it was instead still wrapped around his neck as he had been in the process of putting it on.
The small, green-haired man rushed to his door and pushed the bionic out of the room, not stopping at the door frame but continued until they reached the stairs.
"Hyung, wait hold on-"
Taehyungs foot slipped on the edge of the first step, and he fell backwards down the stairs towards the coat rack. He stretched out his arms and managed to catch his weight on the floor before flipping himself over.
Yoongi had pulled his arms through the sleeves and had started making his way down the steps with Taehyungs coat in his hand. "We agreed that my room was off limits you bastard!"
"Uh, hyung wait please, I really am sorry but you were an hour late coming downstairs and-"
Rashly, the older shoved Taehyung's coat into his chest and nodded towards the door.
"Wait, come on I barely saw anything hyung, have mercy on me!" the bionic pleased.
"You need to leave before I say something I'll regret later."
"Hyung please~"
"Did you hear me or are you deaf? I said get the fuck out before I fire you."
Taehyung watched as the older swung the front door open. "Uh, technically, only your landlord can fire me-"
"Get out!"
He stepped out into the cold, and was only greeted by a chilly wind which made its way past his collar. "Oh wait, hyung!"
Yoongi sighed, and pinched the bridge of his nose. "What?"
"Your shirt is on backwards-"
The door slammed on his face, and Taehyung was left outside beneath dark, winter clouds that threatened to take a leak at any moment. Instead of wandering off somewhere, he took a seat on the steps and decided that after maybe a half hour or so, Yoongi would lighten up and let him back inside.
That had been 7 hours ago.
Damn his past self for being so cocky. He had been sat in the cold and snow for so long, and not once had Yoongi bothered to check up on him. Yes, he was a bionic superhuman with exceptional skills, but his body was still human and prone to such things even like paper cuts. Of course sitting outside in the middle of winter would be deathly cold to him. He didn't even have socks on!
He sighed to himself, then into his palms to warm them up. Why was Yoongi's room so off limits anyway? He hadn't been inside long but it had been enough to scan the layout.
And it was ridiculously clean and tidy. Plain walls with a few framed photos and awards, a small desk with books piled on top of it's dresser, a wardrobe and a bed. Nothing to be embarrassed about. It had even smelled nice, and really fresh.
Maybe he got mad because he had walked in on him getting dressed. But Taehyung didn't really see the problem with it. They were both males, so why had he freaked out?
The sound of the door handle creaking made him flinch, and he turned to face the figure stood in the doorway holding a blanket out towards him.
"Hyung?"
Yoongi was faced away with a deep-set frown on his face. "Get in."
He stood up, surprised by his clients more-than-expected kindness. "Are you still mad? I can wait longer if you'd like-"
Yoongi grabbed his collar and pulled him inside. "Just get in, I'm over it." He threw the blanket at him, and slumped over on his sofa with his arms crossed.
Taehyung stood there for a few moments with the blanket in his arms. Then he grinned. "Really? Are you sure you're over it?"
"Yes I already said that."
"Reaaaaally?" He took a seat besides Yoongi with a huge smile on his face.
Yoongi sighed, then ruffled his hair. "Aish, yes I'm fine. I overreacted. Now warm up." He pulled the blanket over him, and handed him a mug of tea.
Taehyung felt his heart flutter, and he coughed in response. What was that?
"Yah, are you okay?"
"U-uh yeah I'm completely fine hyung." He looked at the blanket, and the warm mug in his hand. "Did you prepare this for me?"
"Yeah I did, so just drink it. If you want to gloat then you can go outside again."
Taehyung snickered, and took a sip of from the mug. "It's really sweet."
"Do you dislike it that way?"
"No, I prefer it this way, actually." Taehyung glanced at Yoongi, who was watching the TV in front of him with his arms still crossed. "You know hyung, you're seriously really kind and considerate when you want to be."
"I know I am. I'm awesome."
"And you told me not to gloat." He laughed to himself, and received a strange look from Yoongi.
"What?"
"Nothing." Yoongi turned back to the TV and leaned into the sofa, placing his head against the old, woollen fabric. They remained quiet for a while, with just the sounds of dialogue coming from the television, and Taehyung from time to time taking a sip from the tea. "It looks better on you."
"Pardon?"
"When you smile."
The bionic laughed. "Hyung, I'm always smiling."
"Not like that. That was a real one."
"How would you know what's real and what isn't?"
"Because I'm awesome."
"Hyung, you said that already!" Taehyung laughed again, and felt a warm feeling reach his heart. He coughed again, because this was incredibly new to him.
"Are you sure you haven't got a cold?"
"Yes, I'm sure. I wouldn't get sick so easily." He sighed. "Hyung, how come I'm not allowed upstairs in your room? Are you hiding something?"
"It's not that. I just really value my privacy. I enjoy being alone most of the time."
"Yeah but, that was a huge reaction to me just coming into your room." Yoongi turned away, and Taehyung caught a glimpse of his pink ears. "Or are you insecure about your body or something?"
"It's not really that, although I admit having muscles would be nice."
"Nah, hyung it wouldn't suit you since you're so petite."
"You make me sound like a girl. I am a man, in case you didn't notice."
Taehyung could only laugh again at his clients subtle passive aggression. "Yes I did, so have no fear." He smirked and leaned towards him. "Is it because you're gay?"
"More or less."
"I was ju- Wait seriously?"
Yoongi nodded blankly.
"I hope I didn't offend you with that comment hyung, I just wasn't expecting that."
"Do I seem like a straight person?"
"Well, straight forward. I don't know, I assumed you were straight not for any certain reason. You just have that aura around you."
"I'm guessing you're straight?"
Taehyung paused to think. "Bionics can't have relationships, since they don't feel anything. They have interests, like I prefer to eat sweet things and meat, but I dunno about other things. I was straight before I died, so that would make me straight I guess."
"Before you died?"
"Yes, everyone dies when they bionotize."
"I thought people donated themselves."
"Not always. Sometimes they are donated after they die for a ransom or with hope to have that person come back to life again. But they come back a different person and emotionless, so the idea of getting a loved one back quickly vanished. But yeah, I did donate myself, but the whole process requires for you to 'die' either way."
"Why'd you...donate yourself?"
"They told me that I had told them that I didn't want to live my life anymore. Apparently I had run away with my girlfriend and left everyone and everything behind to work for someone I loved in a different city, and she apparently cheated on me."
"Wow...I'm sorry you went through that."
"I don't remember any of it so don't worry hyung. I died and I was technically reborn, and we get told that we are different people to who we were."
"That's some serious deep shit. Do all bionics come with sad back stories?" Yoongi grinned at him, and Taehyung laughed and shook his head.
"More or less. But yeah, I think I'm straight but I wouldn't know."
"Not that it matters if you can't feel anything."
"Yeah..."
Taehyung breathed out, and also leaned his head on the back of the sofa. Something was wrong and he couldn't put his finger on it. He felt weird, and not like this usual self.
But he didn't hate it.
He looked over at Yoongi, who had closed his eyes and was breathing softly.
He didn't hate it at all.
