Chapter 13
Jungkook
Laid in front of him, gripping his arms in a crumpled form with his coat at his feet, Jimin looked up at him with a glossy, fear stricken gaze. Jungkook picked up his coat from the snow, and wrapped it around Jimin's shaking shoulders as he knelt in front of him. They were so close, that he could feel Jimin's breath on his cheek and he could see his dilated pupils.
"J-Jungkook..."
He felt a pair of uncertain arms snake around his neck, and the bionic was slowly pulled into a quivering embrace. Jimin buried his face into his neck, and Jungkook froze. The bionic was sure his heart had stopped momentarily from the surprise of this gentle embrace, and the younger remained glued to the spot, unsure of what to do. Then, he felt warm droplets slide down his skin, and Jimin's shoulders started to tremble gently as muffled sobs escaped his lips.
Jungkook didn't...he had never...he wasn't like Taehyung. He had never been in a situation like this.
Jimin's hot breath tingled his skin, and Jungkook felt his fists clench beneath him as the olders tears became more intense, and his weeping louder. He felt so incapable, almost weak, and he didn't know how to comfort the human before him. He didn't know how. Never had he felt so helpless. Useless. And, he had never felt his heart ache at any other sight except for the one which clung to him desperately. What would a human do?
Cautiously, the younger lifted his hands from the ground, and softly rubbed Jimin's small back whilst the other he placed on the back of his head. He heard Jimin whimper, and Jungkook traced small circles on his back with his fingers in an attempt to calm him down. "Don't worry hyung, everything's alright now. I'm here now. It's okay."
"I-I...they were going to..."
"They're gone now. It's okay."
For a while, they remained like that: with Jungkook knelt in front of Jimin, and Jimin leant up on his knees, and their arms wrapped around each other in somewhat desperation. Somehow, Jimin fit so perfectly in his arms, and his smaller, cold body slowly started to emit a warmth which Jungkook didn't want to leave alone. And the younger felt the world around him start to slow down.
When Jimin's breathing steadied, he still didn't pull away, and Jungkook was in no rush to end this closeness either.
But a few moments later, Jimin's arms unhooked from his neck, and his hands fell below to Jungkook's chest instead, unmoving and balled into little fists. "Jimin?" His hyung looked down at the ground; his cheeks were red and stained with tears, and his eyelashes were wet and dark as his gaze refused to meet his own. "Hyung...?"
He heard Jimin sharply breathe in. "Jungkook, I-"
"I...suppose we're even now?"
"Huh?"
"You put me up for a few months, and I get to save you from horny bastards like them."
He heard a gentle sound escape from the smaller man, and the endearing resonance of Jimin's soft laugh filled his ears. "It sounds like a good plan."
The bionic closed his eyes for a few momdnts, taking in the moment of his current intimacy with this beautiful man in front of him, and despite what had happened, the calm, blithe atmosphere surrounding only them was enough to calm them both down. He could hear footsteps behind him, and it was enough to bring him back down to earth.
It had done the same to Jimin, because he pulled away completely from Jungkook and tried to stand. But he immediately doubled over and clutched his stomach. Before Jungkook could protest, Jimin held up a hand. "I-I'm fine, he got a hit on me that's all."
"Can you walk?"
Jimin took a few hesitant steps with one arm clinging to the wall, before he stopped. "Jungkook, your present!" Jimin leant down and picked up a small brown paper bag, then handed it to him.
"Hyung, I..."
"You better not refuse it!"
Unable to say no, Jungkook reached his hand into the bag, he pulled out a keyring with a pink bunny attached to the chain.
Jimin smiled. "It's cute right? I thought you'd like it."
Jungkook could only smile back, and this time, he felt the smile reach his eyes. "I do. Thanks hyung."
He saw Jimin's eyes widen and his mouth open slightly, but then the older ended up clutching his stomach tighter before he could reply.
Jungkook understood and walked over to him, and he bent down with his arms below his waist, gesturing for the other to climb onto his back.
"Are you sure? Will I be too heavy?" Jimin mumbled hesitantly.
"Hyung, do you really think I can't lift you?"
Jimin paused. Then Jungkook felt him climb onto his back. Jungkook grabbed his thighs tightly, and walked out into the street, back towards the cafe where he had left their bags.
"Jungkook?"
"Yes?"
"...thank you."

Jimin
As Jungkook walked down the street to find his car with the bags in his hands, and Jimin on his back, Jimin surprisingly wasn't thinking about what had just happened.
The two men, their disgusting gaze...
To distract himself, he found his mind traveling back to his embrace with the bionic instead. The way Jungkook had held him had felt so heart-felt and caring, it could've fooled anyone that maybe he wasn't an emotionless superhuman. He had caressed his hair and gently rubbed his back, something so human-like and tender that it had momentarily even fooled himself. His scent had also calmed Jimin down: something fresh and earthy, something so Jungkook. Nothing like that man's cologne.
And right now, he could smell the same scent as he tightened his grip on Jungkook's shoulders.
Jungkook must have noticed this, as he turned his head slightly to eye Jimin. "Hyung, are you alright now?"
"Yes, it doesn't hurt so much anymore. He mainly just winded me."
A lot of people passed them, and ogled at the strange sight of a man piggy-backing another man in public. Jimin hid his face in Jungkook's neck, and shamelessly sniffed his aroma.
Jimin couldn't get a certain image out of his head. When Jungkook had opened his present and saw the keychain, his smile had been breathtaking. He had such a toothy, bunny smile that made little wrinkles around his twinkling eyes. And Jimin had felt the air get knocked out of him all over again.
On their way home, Jimin pulled over outside of the dorms. He turned to Jungkook who was in the passenger seat. "Um...I'm just going to quickly meet a friend of mine. I'll be right back."
Jungkook nodded without question, then Jimin left the car and walked up the icy steps before knocking on Yoongi's door.
When it opened after a couple moments, he saw his friends surprised expression. "Jimin...?"
"Hey, um, can we speak inside?"
"Yeah sure, come in."
The first thing Jimin noticed was the fresh smell of flowers, and then he realized how clean his place looked. No more boxes or piles of clothing/paper, no more coffee mugs scattered everywhere. "What the...this is amazing! Who helped?!"
Yoongi wacked him in the arm. "Oi, what makes you think I couldn't do it myself?"
They both laughed to themselves, and an awkward silence passed over the room. "Hyung, I'm sorry I lashed out at you over the phone. I know you were just worried about me."
Yoongi shrugged his shoulders. "Nah, I was being a bit uncaring about it too. It wasn't just your fault." He paused. "Is he still staying with you?"
"Yeah. He's gonna stay with me for a few months until it's warm enough for him to make his own way to the factory up north."
"Can't you just, offer him a ride?"
"That's what I said, but he refuses for some reason. I suppose it's against a bionic's nature to have a human so directly help them out."
Yoongi leant against the sofa with his arms folded. "What have you done in the mean time?"
"Just some shopping, you know..." Jimin didn't want to mention the incident which had occurred earlier on, or else he knew Yoongi would find a way to blame it on Jungkook rather than the unlucky coincidence it actually was.
"He hasn't made a move on you?"
"What? No, what?! He isn't like that, I doubt bionics are at all like that! And, what're the chances that he's...you know..."
Yoongi looked up to his stairs, unblinking. "They're still human you know. Maybe they've been slightly altered and maybe science says otherwise, whatever, but they still have needs like anyone else does."
"How would you know?"
Yoongi just shook his head and swallowed. "I just do."
"Well, alright, I'll be careful. I'm gonna get going so I'll make sure to call you sometime!"
Yoongi nodded. "No problem kid. Just, keep me updated."
Jimin left the dorm with a strange feeling. For some reason, he felt like Yoongi was acting a little weird. He couldn't put his finger on it but he wasn't acting like his normal self. He got into his car and started it up. Jungkook was still sat in the passenger seat, and he had the keychain in his hand.
To counteract the even stranger feelings starting to bloom in his stomach, Jimin found it easier to just look away and try to ignore his beating heart.
"So...what should we have for dinner?"
