The Haunted Apartment Part 1

KNOCK, KNOCK! The apartment front door banged loudly as a girl flipped the page in a book she was reading. She was laying on the couch with her left leg crossing her bended right knee. The girl put the book on the wooden table and slowly stood up, stretching her arms to the sky. "Man, who could it be?" she groaned softly, walking to the door. She undid the door lock and opened the door, revealing a young man with brown hair. A familiar face is always nice to see, at least the girl thought that way.

"Yo, Lizzy!" the boy exclaimed with a cheeky grin.

"Hey," Lizzy replied with a slight yawn. "What's going on, Jaden?"

"I found out something really sweet earlier! Can I come in?"

"Yeah, sure." Lizzy immediately moved out of the way for Jaden to come into her apartment.

"Were you sleeping just now?" he asked curiously as he came in.

"No. I mean, I was sleeping an hour ago but I was reading before you knocked on the door."

"Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaah, that sounds like you."

"What do you mean?" Lizzy said, sitting on the couch with a slight pout.

"You're a bookworm!" Jaden proclaimed, sitting on the couch beside her. "You read books almost 24-7."

"And you sleep 24-7, dude!"

"Only when I'm allowed to! Then I totally can do it!"

"I will never let you do it again." Jaden glared slightly as Lizzy grabbed her book again. "Sooooooo, what's this sweet thing you wanted to tell me about?" the girl asked, debating on whether to start reading again or not.

"There's a haunted apartment here in the complex! We gotta check it out." Lizzy gave him a blank stare as he gave her the excited pair of eyes Jaden usually has when he's stoked about interesting things.

"Jay, we can't go to a haunted apartment now!" Lizzy exclaimed.

"Why not?"

"Because it's not Halloween! You explore haunted places when the mood is right."

"Then we put on Halloween costumes. No problem!" The girl raised her eyebrow and said,

"You really want to go there, don't you?"

"Please?" the boy begged with pleading eyes.

"Okay, why are you asking me? You can make your own decisions."

"But I need you to come with me! Out of the both of us, you've been the most responsible one since middle school."

"...Huh." Lizzy had to think about it for a few seconds. It's true that those two have known each other since the rough days of middle school, but was the girl the most responsible out of the two? The truth was...yes. Of course she was. "You do have a point," she admitted finally. She then sighed and said, "Okay, let's do it. But no Halloween costumes."

"Yes!" Jaden screamed, throwing his hands up in the air. "What are we waiting for? Let's go get Yusei!" He stood up and ran out of Lizzy's apartment as fast as a bullet train.

"Wait, you have to ask him first!" Lizzy yelled, running after him. "Don't you remember what happened at the Halloween party last year?"
