Blackout Part 1

Joey and Yugi walked out of the apartment with two board games in the former's possession. They were going to Yusei and Jaden's apartment to play some games with them and Lizzy, since she always tagged along when it came to game nights.

"Are you sure that we don't have to bring more board games, Yug?" Joey asked him as they went to the stairway. "I mean, it's just two games, if you don't count Duel Monsters."

"I'm sure it'll be okay," Yugi replied with a smile. "They told me to just bring two games anyway."

"Yeah, you're right. What could go wrong?" The two got to the stairway and stepped up some stairs before they got to the next floor. "Now where do they live again?" Joey asked, looking around to see which door they should knock on.

"They're this way," his friend answered, starting to walk down the hall. Joey followed him a few doors down until they stopped in front of a door. "This should be it." Yugi knocked on the door and it bursted open, causing both Joey and Yugi to jostle and step back. Lizzy stepped out from her hiding spot, the other side of the door.

"Hi, guys!" Lizzy grinned. She tilted her head a little at them. "You guys look a little frightened. You okay?"

"Y-Yeah, we'll be fine," Joey replied, still startled. "W-We just didn't expect a greeting like that."

"You mean how I kicked the door? I do that all the time. Sorry for not giving you any warning."

"You kicked the door again?!" Yusei exclaimed from the couch, looking at Lizzy.

"There's no other way I can practice my kicks," Lizzy protested with a pout. She let Joey and Yugi inside before Yusei said anything else.

"That's what heavy bags are for!"

"I don't have one, remember?"

"Ugh, I have to go on the penguin sled race!" Jaden complained, not paying attention to what was happening around him. He was just playing a video game on the TV. "I don't like the penguin sled race!!" The four looked at Jaden and sweatdropped, shaking their heads with a soft sigh. Of course he's not paying attention to them.

"Jay, Yugi and Joey are here," Lizzy said to him so that he can at least say hello.

"Oh hi guys!" Jaden exclaimed, looking at them and waving happily at them.

"Jaden, you fell off the map for the race," Yusei stated, looking at the TV again.

"I did? Oh well, talking to friends is more important than that penguin sled race."

"I hope you can still beat the race though."

"What are you playing, Jaden?" Joey asked curiously. "I don't think I've seen that game before."

"It's Super Mario 64!" Lizzy announced with a grin. "It's one of my brother's childhood games. You've never heard of it?"

"Now that you mention it, I've heard of it but I never got a chance to play it yet."

"Well, how about you play after-" Suddenly, the lights in the apartment went out in an instant. It was just pitch black everywhere. "Never mind," Lizzy said aloud.

That's the end of the chapter part!!! This one was a fun one to write out, and I hope you enjoy it. :)
