"There's a new student joining the class today," the teacher intoned, and Kaneki looked up while Ayato kept his head down. "Introduce yourself, please."

The student bobbed his head, his black hair bouncing up and down on his shoulders. "I'm Juuzou!"

The teacher nodded. "All right, Juuzou, take your seat."

Juuzou nodded and took his seat next to Kaneki, waving at the boy, who smiled back shyly.

"All right, class. We will be doing some crafts today to decorate for the holiday party." The teacher started passing out construction paper and scissors. "Cut out fun shapes or designs to hang up with your name on them."

Kaneki picked up his scissors and was about to cut out a pumpkin when he saw Juuzou staring at the scissors in wonder. "Do you need help?" Kaneki asked. "Do you need me to show you how to use them?"

Juuzou shook his head slowly, grinning. "Mama doesn't let me have sharp objects at home."

After cutting out shapes, the teacher handed out yarn and needles. "You can do embroidery or needle work to sew words or pictures or whatever you like."

Kaneki was only halfway through his picture when he saw Juuzou sticking the needle into his skin to make weird symbols.

The teacher promptly removed Juuzou's materials.
